[[HIGHLIGHT]]I had the best experience working with Pari![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I had spent good money on my dress and wanted to take it to someone for hemming that I could trust. Pari put a lot of care into her work and made me feel confident in her abilities. [[HIGHLIGHT]]She is also SO sweet. She was truly happy for me getting married - I felt so taken care of in every way.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]I was also in an appt with her when she had answered the phone from someone who needed 2 suits tailored same day for a funeral of their 22 year old sister who died in a car accident. She didn't stumble over her words and immediately said she would do it for him and expressed her condolences for their loss.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Quality is extremely important when it comes to tailoring, but knowing the person behind the work is a legitimately great human is the cherry on top and why I'll continue to go to Pari with all my tailoring needs.

After

I can't speak highly enough of Pari! I came to Pari panicked because my bridesmaid dress was too small and the velvet fabric did not leave much room to expand. Pari immediately had a solution and was a true miracle worker. I even ended up preferring Pari's version over the original dress! I will go to Pari for all future alternation needs!

Pari is a miracle worker.

Pari is a miracle worker! I had ordered a custom dress online and they completely messed it up. pari literally had to reconstruct the dress to make it fit and she did the most wonderful job. It looks brand new. She is also the nicest person and I truly appreciate all her hard work. Best tailor ever!

Pari is wonderful! She has fixed a gown for me, as well as jeans that needed a new zipper/taken in around the waist. She is a delight

Based on numerous alteration visits to this business recently, Javier at Santa Monica Tailor by…read moreBello is someone that I know I can trust with my garments. His workmanship quality is phenomenal. From the simplest alteration request, such as shortening the sleeves on a linen dress shirt or opening the front breast pocket on a jacket to allow for a pocket square to be worn, all the way up to more advanced projects, such as taking an off-the-rack suit and making it fit like it was tailor made for my specific body, Javier does it all and he does it well. Javier is very honest. When I brought a suit that fit too tightly and I wanted it to be let out, so that I could wear it again, he tallied up the price to perform the work, but told me that the sleeves around the bicep area were already too tightly altered (by a different tailor, mind you). His honesty saved me from spending to let out what could be let out, only to possibly not be thrilled with sleeves that were already too tight to begin with from making the mistake of going to a different place to have it altered prior. Javier not only provides honest recommendations about what needs to be done for a suit to fit so that I will be walking around confident and looking my best, but he also helps to understand the style nuances and those little details that one might not even think about during a fitting. First time I've ever had functional sleeve buttons added to one of my suits, a detail only found on high-end tailoring, and one that makes it feel special and better than any other suit that I've worn before! Given the building's proximity to downtown Santa Monica, it's exceptional that there is convenient parking available for free in the rear lot. Expedited service is available, if you need a fast turnaround, too! I had a deadline where I needed an outfit for a movie screening that was rapidly approaching and Javier was able to alter the suit in the nick of time. Thank goodness my friend recommended Javier to me, I only wish I heard about his business sooner!

However, after my experience, I feel it's important to share it so other brides can make an informed decision. This happened during my wedding week, a time when emotions and stress are already high. I chose this business because of its many positive Yelp reviews, but after my experience, I would encourage future customers to also read the negative reviews carefully. About two weeks before my wedding, I brought in one of my wedding dresses to have the straps shortened. The alteration itself was done well. However, when I got home and removed the dress from the garment bag, I immediately noticed dirt and blue pen marks running down the side of the white fabric. I know with complete confidence the dress was not returned in that condition. I don't use blue pens, and I handled my wedding dresses with extreme care. They are two of the most expensive and sentimental items I own. I brought the dress back and simply asked if it could be professionally cleaned. He agreed, which I appreciated. At the same time, I dropped off my second wedding dress for more extensive alterations and fully expected to pay whatever those alterations cost. The next day, he texted saying he had contacted a dry cleaner who believed they could remove the dirt and pen marks and asked for my approval before taking it there. I genuinely appreciated that initiative. My concern wasn't that the dress needed cleaning. It was that I didn't feel I should be responsible for paying for the cleaning when the dress had been returned to me with dirt and blue pen marks. I was even willing to pay if it meant getting my dress back in time. My bigger concern was the communication. The text was clearly copied and pasted from ChatGPT (I'll attach it). There's nothing wrong with AI, but when someone is trusting you with their only two wedding dresses a week before their wedding, they want to communicate directly with the person responsible for them. I wanted reassurance, not a generic AI response. When I asked if he would honor his original quote for my second dress and reconsider charging me for the cleaning, he called me. I was simply trying to understand the situation, but the conversation quickly escalated. He began yelling at me. I wasn't raising my voice or trying to argue, I was trying to find a solution because I needed these dresses back before my wedding. The call ended with him refusing to work on either dress and telling me to pick them up Monday. I can't adequately describe the anxiety this caused. It was the weekend before my wedding, and my only two wedding dresses were in someone else's possession. After the way I had been spoken to, I didn't feel comfortable retrieving them alone, so my fiancé went instead. When my fiancé arrived Monday at the exact pickup time he had been given, the owner refused to release the dresses and told him to return at 3pm, even though no work was being performed. While he was there, another customer commented she had returned because her dress needed to be re altered after it wasn't done correctly the first time. My fiancé recorded the interaction because of how the previous phone call had gone. What disappointed me most wasn't that a mistake happened. Mistakes happen in every business, I own one myself. What matters is how they're handled. After reading many of the negative Yelp reviews, I noticed a consistent pattern: when customers raise concerns, there seems to be very little accountability. The responses often shift blame to the customer rather than acknowledge their experience. Unfortunately, that's exactly how I felt. Customers don't always have to be right, and business owners don't always have to agree with them. But customers should always be treated with professionalism and respect. Yelling at someone who is already stressed and simply trying to find a solution, especially during the week of their wedding, is never acceptable. This experience caused an incredible amount of unnecessary stress during what should have been one of the happiest weeks of my life. I spent the weekend in tears, wondering if I would have to find someone else to clean one dress and alter the other days before my wedding. When I ultimately took my dress elsewhere, I was told it couldn't be cleaned because the fabric is silk and the ink could bleed. As a result, I am unable to wear my ceremony dress. I truly hate writing negative reviews because I know the impact they can have on a small business. But if sharing my experience helps another bride avoid this kind of stress during one of the biggest weeks of her life, then I feel it's worth sharing.

I don't live close but the alterations done on my clothes have been so amazing it is worth the drive. I have taken my oversized suits, formal dresses and gowns to get them altered and you would think I bought it that way. Incredibly professional and such a delight to visit. It can be pricey but I think when you are altering very expensive clothing, it is worth it. Especially with the way clothes are made so by heap nowadays. If you have a good base/foundation to work with and good fabric... do what I did and save the clothes! Get them altered here. You won't be sorry

Part 1 of the experience-…read more So far the service one would expect from a Mom (Maria) and Son (Fernando) duo is what's expected- Excited (The Son Fernando); attentive (The Mom Maria); engaging ( the Son Fernando compliments women picking up wedding dresses and talks sports with the fellas)- All AMAZING qualities to keep customers coming back- Especially on Saturday - Depending on what you are looking for in customer service, although AMAZING, the attention and excitement could be overwhelming- The customer service experience appears to be built on excitement and immediate response to customers entering the shop- We ALL like immediate response and attention to detail, however, we have our movements when we want calm, cool and collective- Wedding dresses were being picked up quickly, on time and without complaints from 4 soon to be Brides, a prom dress was being altered, while Maria took alterations in my three piece suits- Lastly, suit bags or other agency cleaner bagging options for your clothes will not be held or accepted. Instead, they ask that you take the bags you bring the clothes in, back home with you- be prepared to leave with the bags you bring- Attention to detail will be instrumental in the final review of the experience, as this is my first time using their services- Stand bye- May 19
