I've been taking guitar lessons with Rick Dalton since July 2013. I'll start by telling you that…read morewhen I first came to Rick I had no musical ability. I was just a middle aged man with a cheap electric guitar that wanted to learn some metal songs from the 80s and 90s. Through the years, Rick has opened my eyes and appreciation for different genres of music. Rick has kept me interested in the guitar by teaching me my interests and peppering in additional info to expand my musical horizon. I've learned some of my favorite songs over the years and am now playing music I thought I would have never played. Rick promotes my creativity by encouraging me to write my own songs. I choose to take my lessons at Rick's house. He is welcoming and his house is always clean and very well kept. A few times we've done lessons at my place and he is very respectful while in my home. Rick is an amazing musician. He has an appreciation for all types of music and is well educated in music theory. He has amazing ability on the guitar, and can play anything. The time and money I've spent on lessons over the years was very well spent. A note to new students, you must practice the instrument to overcome and conquer the various milestones. I'll admit, some weeks I don't get my practice in, however I still go to my lesson which helps me to keep pushing forward and keeps me picking up and engaged with the guitar. If you're interested to see how far Rick's gotten me check out some videos I've posted on YouTube. Good Luck! https://youtu.be/CWSf8AXF7Zo https://youtu.be/DeYGSEIjRxw https://youtu.be/ZxhuFlSgOGA

He's the most knowledgeable and talented guitarist I've ever come across. He plays all genres of music and he never pressures you and shows nothing but patience. I highly recommend him if you are just starting out or starting over again like I did after 50+ years. He also repairs guitars and sets up your new guitar making necessary adjustments like he just did for me with my new Squier Stratocaster.

Although I am a decent guitar player-- I am self taught and wanted my daughter to get formal training and independent lessons so she could start off on the right foot. That decision was a good one since Jan has her reading music and practicing proper techniques; and she loves it! Jan is organized, he tracks progress and is patient at the same time. My daughter is progressing well and enjoys her lessons with Jan. I highly recommend Jan if your child has an inclination to learn guitar.

He is extremely patient and very engaged in his teaching approach. We were looking for someone to come and give lessons in home opposed to going to a school, because we like the flexibility if we needed it. We understand that life happens and he is always willing to work around a change just like we are. He has a structured lesson plan, book and assigns weekly homework for our daughter to practice daily. A school talent show popped up and our daughter is very shy, yet when she heard about it she was eager to join. We are sure the lessons have inspired a great deal of confidence in her. Jan sorted out what songs would be feasible and was willing to double our weekly lessons to ensure that she would be prepared(he even gave a dual lesson with her and her partner who was signing). The performance was great and we have him and our daughter's hard work to thank. I really can't fit enough information in a review to state how great of a find he has been. If you are thinking about lessons, try him out and see how you or your kid vibe with him.

It is with great pleasure to recommend Feliks Volozhanin as your next musical instructor for Cello…read more Feliks had been my son's Cello instructor since last March 2018. In this time, Feliks played a pivotal role in encouraging their love for his Cello. Our son was also able to advance his musical skills through direct lessons with Feliks. He has been able to play pieces from "Bach" to " Camille Saint-Saëns "The Swan " since that time with Feliks and The Russian School of Music. I have read and researched that music programs improve individual's communication skills and overall quality of life. Music allows individuals of all abilities to feel empowered, and improve their critical thinking skills, verbal fluency and mathematical abilities. I believe that adding Feliks and The Russian School of Music to your child's strings endeavor will truly enhance your child's musical abilities. Since our son has been playing the Cello he has built and added positive character traits, and a sense of achievement for him.
