Billy and Jack are wonderful. Professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. Billy is a fantastic luthier. Jack is a remarkable technician. I used to have to drive to Hollywood or the valley to find good work. It is great to have Beach Music in our area. read more

Came here to accompany my sister with an electric guitar string replacement and Billy was so helpful! He taught my sister and also showed us around the shop. For any folks interested in picking up an instrument, Beach music is the place to go! I used to play a few instruments and Billy's encouragement and the welcoming atmosphere makes me want to get back into music! Highly recommend anyone to check this spot out. I'll definitely be back! read more

Wow!! Best shop ever. Billy was so helpful and taught me how to restring and gave me other useful tips as a beginner guitarist. I would highly reccomend this shop. They also have awesome vintage instruments. Maybe one day I'll pick one out! read more

The best music store and repair shop in the OC. I have been coming to Billy's shop Beach Music for just about 8 years now and I wish I've discovered this place sooner. I've had instruments, bass guitars, electric guitars and both bass and guitar amps repaired here with no problem, affordable pricing and really quick turnaround!! The service is great- not to mention the recent expansion of the shop that offers more instrument options to purchase from. Billy handles every instrument with professionalism and care, whether they are vintage or new- I've had a large amount of my vintage, very delicate instruments and amps repaired here with no problem. I will always make sure to stop by when I'm in the area and could not recommend this shop enough, whether it is looking for guitar lessons, instrument repairs and/or looking to buy vintage and new gear. The best! read more

Friendly , down to earth personal service, not that easy to find these days . . Quick turnaround on repairs

I haven't played in a long time, and when I did play, I didn't get very far. Needless to say, I didn't have much experience, or any with electric guitars. Beach helped me get set up and playing by taking their time and going out of their way to help me. Extremely helpful, friendly service. Great location and probably worth a bit of an extra drive if you aren't close. This is definitely my go to spot for anything guitar related. read more

Words cannot describe how thankful I am to have brought my guitar in for repairs. Billy nailed it and had my guitar ready for me the next day! He also educated me on guitars and showed me some of his really cool vintage guitars and it made me feel so confident in him working on my old guitar from the 60s. This is definitely the coolest guitar shop I've been to and I plan to come again. Billy thank you so so much for flawless customer service and knowing about guitars we need more experts like you!!! read more

Billy is someone every musician should know. A reliable, friendly and kind proprietor, who is happy and willing to help find vintage gems and keep your instruments in tip top shape! read more

This is the place to be for your music needs! Billy has helped us get amps, guitars, a bass, and even a keyboard! Wishing I could leave 100 stars. These guys are amazing. I truly had a terrible day and week but these guys turned that around with only 5 minutes of their kindness. My son and I rode our bikes over to get my guitar string fixed and I was prepared to leave it for however long was needed and pay whatever they asked. They asked me for my guitar and asked me to wait 5 min, he comes back with my string fixed and insisted on not charging me. They truly care about their customers and know that the little things pay off, I will forever be a customer just for this simple gesture. See you all soon and thanks again! read more

Billy continues to do an amazing job on my gear. I feel really fortunate to have found his shop. I've brought a variety of stuff to him over the past several years, and his work is always top-notch, reliable, and timely. I've been able to count on Billy for fantastic work 100% of the time. Thanks, Billy, for the great work that you do! read more

One of my guitar strings broke and I searched Yelp and found this store which had five star reviews. They really deserve it! The store owner Billy is very friendly and replaced the string for free! I feel lucky that I found this store and I highly recommend it to everyone! read more

I've known Billie for about 5 years and he gets all my music business now. I've been through almost everybody in So Cal searching for a luthier worth the name. I finally found the Wizard. He is so experienced that I can't even imagine a better guitar tech. I have never asked Billie for an estimate !!! I don't need to. I just ask if he would PLEASE do his thing. I've been working on guitars, mandolins, banjos, tiples, tube amps, and everything related for decades. I thought I was pretty good. But Billie is so far beyond anyone I've met, I wouldn't even consider working on my own now. I'd drive miles to get him to work on my gear; and just to say hello. He's in Sunset Beach and there is no better place to kill a bunch of hours; bring your lady for lunch. If you get lucky, Billie may pull down a bass and start cranking out some of the most awesome bass runs ever. This guy is a Musicologist par excellence. I love the tone he gets. But the best is saved for last. Billie is one hell of a human being. He's got a big heart that shines bright; like a light that illuminates all around it. I count myself as lucky that I have been able to share a few moments with Billie. I have searched almost my entire life for people to know that are truly different, that are something special. Billie is one ! It's obvious that others think the same. Has anyone ever seen "nothing but 5 star reviews" ??????? bob :) read more

I brought my 76-key Yamaha keyboard to Beach Music for a repair estimate (yes, they fix more than just guitars!) and I couldn't be more thrilled with having found Billy and this amazing shop! Besides having a repair diagnostic for me in less than an hour, Billy has an impressive array of incredible guitars (including one bad-ass, see-through acrylic beauty!), is an incredible repair tech, musician, and just an overall great guy. I couldn't recommend this shop or this owner more highly. I will definitely be coming back for all of my music needs! read more

Highly recommend this place. Billy does good work at a fair price and always has a cool selection of good instruments for sale.

After going to a few guitar repair shops now and being recommended by some friends, I'd say Billy is the best guy for the job. He's repaired/set up my amp, guitar pedals, pickup installations with custom wiring requests, and parts that improved my guitars tuning stability/playability and overall acoustic sound etc. What I appreciate about Billy isn't just his versatility in the craft, but mostly his honesty. Always gives back spare parts without having me ask for them and calls to update me on how progress is coming along. There's parking behind his shop, but I prefer the street In front. Took awhile to write this review, but he stood the test of time and earned my trust so it's well deserved imo. read more

Just can't recommend this place enough. Came in for an emergency replacement nut for my Fender Jazz bass, before I knew it he popped it in for me! Absolute life savers. If you can find parking, I wouldn't recommend going anywhere else. 10/10! Thanks guys. read more

Billy is great. He did an excellent setup and pickup change on my telecaster. Very fast service.

I don't trust anyone else with my guitar repairs but these guys! Very honest hard-working reputable guys! Quality work every time!

Billy is the man! Awesome little shop in Sunset that reminds you what life is all about. Such cool stuff at the store and best service u could ever ask for. Customer and friend for life! read more

I have been going here since Billy had the shop in Huntington beach off Beach Blvd. The new location is sweet! Right off PCH in Sunset beach close to HB Harbor. I have bought a couple guitars from him, he always had good quality and unique guitars there and has guitars for most budgets! So if your looking for something affordable or something to treat yourself with, you can find it here. He is a good guy and does honest, quality, work for repair jobs. I recently brought in an old, dusty, electric guitar with corroded electronics and old strings. He did a complete overhaul on it and changes out all the electronics on it except for pick ups which where in good shape. Then restrung it and polished everything from the frets to the bridge and tuners! It came out looking so good but sounded even better! He charged a very fair price and I know I would have paid more elsewhere and wouldn't have gotten the detail that Billy put into my guitar. So if you need new gear or repair job this is the place to go! read more

If you need a leader in finding the best choice for your style of guitar, Billy is IT!! There are SO many "Guitar Center" stores, but this is truly personalized service. I was unsure which guitar to purchase for my daughter, and I wasn't just offered the most expensive guitar, but instead, the most practical guitar for her. Lessons are available as well. Great employees as well, but Billy is the best!! read more

I needed my guitar repaired and had a hard time sourcing an oddball part. I brought it in to billy and he just so happened to have what I was looking for ! He repaired my guitar right there on the spot and we jammed to some good music and had good conversation while I waited. It was my first time walking into beach music and I left feeling like I made a new friend, Billy is very personable and an overall rad dude, thanks man ! read more

Billy was fantastic! He really helped out my son in a pinch when he needed to have a pick-up placed on his upright bass:) he made quick work of it and had it completed in plenty of time for his gig that evening. Billy was super helpful and is just genuinely a cool cat! Thanks again!!!!! read more

I am so happy that I found this place! I've recently taken up my guitar, snapped a string and didn't want to go to some corporate place and Beach Music was right on my trajectory today. Billy replaced the string for me right away and provided interesting and fun information along the way. The place has a nice vibe. I've found my music store. read more

Beach Music is an lovely local-run music store. You don't see this kind of shop much anymore and it's a breath of fresh air. I play a weekly gig across the street at SAS and this shop has saved my butt a few times. Skip your next trip to a Wal-Mart style music store and come support a friendly local business =) read more

Billy was friendly and helpful on the phone when I called to inquire about re-stringing my guitar and equally amazing in person when I did go in. My guitar was back to me withing a couple of days..restrung and conditioned and looking and sounding beautiful. The shop is inviting ..I kind of just want to hang out there.. and Billy is knowledgeable and gracious. I had loads of questions and he answered them all patiently. I would definitely go back and would highly recommend to others. read more

I have been going to Beach Music for repairs on my guitars, bass, and amps for a few years. The owner, Billy, is extremely knowledgeable and very friendly. He will take the time to figure out what is best for the customer. He has been able to help me finally resolve issues with fret buzzing, and electrical shorting for which I had gone to other shops previously and spent money "fixing" but having the same issue resurface. With Billy those issues have been permanently fixed. He did the same for my Pevey amp, and a bass head that I recovered from a storage locker that had a 1/2 of dust sitting on the tubes when we opened it up. Great work. I have become so confident in his abilities that he completely built me a bass which has become my favorite to play. Great shop - could not recommend any higher. read more
