I love Nasreen. She has a passion for high-quality perfume with natural oils. She has a big personality, and you know she is taking care of you. I described the scent elements of a discontinued fragrance I loved, and she immediately found two fragrances that knocked my socks off. It was a deprived era where I couldn't wear perfume until I met the renowned perfumery expert Nasreen. She promoted a fragrance and to my surprise it didn't trigger a headache which prevented me from wearing perfume ever again. To top it all off, I wore it to dinner and had a couple of people stop me to ask what I was wearing?.........!, needless to say I was rather flattered and realized an expert opinion can also fetch company. I am a fan. I love Nasreen. Love her. I have been shopping here for decades, jeez I am getting old! Now, I completely understand some of the reviews that are not so great. My ex-sister-in-law worked for a famous "nose" so I know a teensy bit vicariously, would never be accused of being knowledgeable but am more sophisticated than most. However, I love, love, love my Clive Christian X and would never have discovered it without Nasreen's "bullying" tactics. Sometimes it works! And it definitely works for me. Perfume shopping here is always a warm experience that brightens ones day, even if making a nice little dent in ones pile of cash! I brought some information on a discontinued scent my brother wore to have her find something that might work. She gave me a half dozen samples. The samples are always generous. I do take offense at anybody going to a local store to decide what they want to buy on-line. That is really disgraceful, frankly. It costs money to maintain a storefront, these businesses support our local economy. Sorry to get on this soapbox, but we need to be conscious of who we support. Running a small business is challenging at best. If you need to do this go to a big box retailer like Macy's. Check out her signature perfume. If you are looking for a guided tour of the run of the mill perfumes, as well as expensive and exotic scents, this is the place. They will hold you hand, gage your reactions, pick up on your likes and dislikes, and do their utmost to send you home with a new favorite. I don't personally find that aggressive. If you're in this shop the odds are you are looking to buy perfume. They wouldn't be doing their job if they didn't help make that happen. I had been on a search for perfume that felt like mine. Everything I tried smelled fake and gave me headaches. When I walked into Parfumerie Nasreen, I met the lady of shop who asked what smells I like. She showed me a perfume that fit the bill but advised me to not rub it into my other wrist. It smelled okay but not notable. She said she wanted to show me something that was nothing like what I described, but she sensed some mischief in me. When she sprayed Meliora on me, I swooned. It was better than anything I could have asked for. Even though I'm generally pretty tight with money, it was too perfect to let pass. I felt like the woman helping me was tuned in and genuinely cares that you find the scent that's just right. She sent me home with Meliora and a handful of samples and even sent me a handwritten card a couple of weeks later. I get compliments every time I wear Meliora - it's perfect and I love it more than any of the samples I received. This place really gives you personalized care and they carry gorgeous fragrances. I don't like perfume stores, I avoid the perfume section of department stores like a plague, and I despise any shops that are so strongly scented they instantly give me a headache. But Parfumerie Nasreen converted me completely to a lover of scents. Before, I'd only known the synthetic American varieties that shouldn't be allowed to touch human skin. This store only stocks the finest natural scents with no harsh alcohols. It is one of a rare breed -- an independtly owned small shop stocked with treasures that represent the true passion of Nasreen, the owner. I was lucky enough to spy it from Hotel 1000 when I was staying there across the street and got the sense it was a gem, so stumbled on in. Nasreen asked what I wear normally and instantly set about selecting a few scents she knew would fit me. She absolutely glows with joy and knowledge. A highlight for me was when, while her helper Nina was packing up our purchases, Nasreen called over to her with a list of small samples that she thought we must absolutely try as well but gave strict guidance on which should be saved until it was cooler out, which will "drive us crazy," etc. This woman, and her store, are a treasure. Evidently her husbard owns a drug store up the street and got her started decades ago with her own little shop. I left wishing I could return again soon despite living in San Francisco. read more

Here is how it can work. Walk in with nothing, or, bring in something in a small zip lock bag you like the scent of . You'll try several thing on paper bookmarkers. Then you'll down select to 4 that will be applied to the skin. Then you leave the store and decide at your own pace. My experience is I've always liked at least 1 of the 4 during each visit. You have the option to come back, report you preference and request they make a sample of the one you like to take home. Again, you leave the store not having spent anything. If you like the way the sample wears over the next few days, gather up your coins and go back and buy it. Nasreen has a saying, only buy it if you can say without hesitation "...I love it..." The is no "...I love it but..." You either do or do not love it. My thoughts, you can either put your face into a tissue dampened with the scent and breath deep, or, can't. Following Nasreens tip will help you say no when you need to and you'll be making the right decision when you say yes. There is something here for everyone. My opinion again, don't go there to check things out and then buy on-line. You know thats wrong. Pay for the service the first time and buy from them. On the second bottle, you're choice buy on-line, or, go back to Nasreen and I guarantee that new items will have arrived you'll like even better. You'll find you like a few different fragrances and probably won't want to stay with what your previous favorite was. Life is meant to enjoy. What you really don't get value from is cable television or texting and think what you spend on that. For two months of of cable and phone bills you could have the most fantastic fragrance you've ever experienced and that bottle will last a year plus. think about it. read more

I have never been in the store as I don't live in Seattle, but a friend told me I could find a scent I was searching for there. It was a very affordable scent (under $100 for 3.4oz) Nasreen took my order, I received the perfume the next day with free shipping, a hand written note and quite a few high end samples. I've never had such great customer service. Nasreen is a doll and part of the fun of the purchase is getting to talk to her. She's an amazing business woman and in no way have I felt pressured to buy. In fact my last order I inquired about a scent for my daughter.......I told her it was more than I wanted to spend so she suggest I purchase a travel bottle and she fill it with the scent for free!!! The traveler was only $20. Once I said it was more than I wanted to spend she never brought it up again. If you like parfume........skip the department stores and call Nasreen! I did purchase some Bond No. 9 from her and found her price was better than the Amazon price!! Support a small business and be happy you did! read more

I've been a customer of Parfums Nasreen for maybe 20-25 years? I have come to count on them for help buying a gift fragrance or suggesting something new for me. I don't wear much cologne anymore - or very often - not like when I was younger going out, etc. But here's the thing. Everyone in this store is dreamy nice. For such a small little store, they sure utilize space very efficiently because they have everything just about: new colognes that department stores don't necessarily carry and older, rare perfumes that aren't available anywhere else as well as many of the classics. I've amazed friends by being able to get their favorite colognes and perfumes that they thought were no longer available. This is a terrific store and I am so grateful for not only the class of Nasreen's employees, but the unbelievable help provided through the years. Every trip there has been a joy. I was just strolling down 1st Ave once during a stay in Seattle and decided to stop in Nasreen's. I was waited on by Nasreen herself, who was simply fascinating to talk to and observe. She helped me find a scent I love in very short order and left me thoroughly dazzled. I suppose I could have spent more time browsing through the amazing selection of fragrances, but overall, I would have to say that her method of focusing on what I would like best was correct. I was grateful for all of the samples she gave me (quite a selection indeed).I believe Nasreen has spoiled me, however, since she taught me a few things and now I think I've become a fragrance snob. The fragrances on sale are not inexpensive. Nasreen's specialty is quality, not bargains. Some people might find her a pushy saleswoman, but in my case, I understand that she is a very talented businesswoman who does provide customers with excellent products. Visiting her establishment was certainly one of the highlights of my recent trip. read more
