Sorry to say the quality has gone way down as far as interesting things to shop for here when I come in to ship. The wonderful little local gifts and cards have been replaced by the same mass-produced stuff that can be found elsewhere. They are very nice at the counter and shipping is efficient, but the experience is not as good. I've been gravitating to an alternate place on Magazine St. where at least there are some creative offerings. read more

I don't know how I have never reviewed this wonderful place! 10/10 recommend over the post office. Everyone who works here is so friendly and remembers me. I have never had to wait long, and they are so helpful at figuring out the best shipping rates. They also have everything you could need to mail a package, as well as unique, locally made cards and gifts, so it's perfect for finding an unexpected cool gift or if you need something else "New Orleans-y" to throw in a package you're about to mail. They also have a couple of local childrens books. The magnets and handmade seasonal cards are my favorite things to look at. read more

I've been a customer here for at least 10 years going back to their original location closer to Whole Foods years ago. I have seen that they are now under new ownership and I love the staff, but I was extremely perturbed by.seeing video camera surveillance staring me in the face when I walk in and another while at the register. If the business was subject to some high crime situation continually, I would maybe understand why they put that there, but this makes me super uncomfortable and makes me want to take my business elsewhere. I hope they decide to remove this. We don't need more surveillance everywhere we go. I gave two stars because the staff is awesome and it's always felt like a great neighborhood business but that is just too much! read more

The retail/gift items are still there and definitely show a local flare, so if there is a line you can shop while you wait. I went today with items to ship to 3 different family members in 3 different parts of the country that have recently visited & bought so much NOLA that it didn't fit in their suitcases. I needed boxes, a tube to send a piece of art my Mom bought & tape to close it all. He had used boxes, literally sawed a tube that was too big for the art & taped it all up. Craig was awesome! Serice is superb here. Everyone I have worked with here efficiently evaluated which shipper provided the best value. if something needed better wrapping they just did it. I have an elderly friend for whom they will aid carrying his packages. They also have the most fun and original greeting cards I've seen anywhere. I have my packages shipped here if I know I will be out of town, and they call to notify me when they are ready for pickup. I actually look forward to going here. I had a job interview yesterday and as I was printing my resume my printer broke. I went to a few other posting locations, but they either weren't open or their system was down. I came into here and was immediately helped. The woman working the desk was fantastic. This is a go-to shop for many various needs. They have sell some nice small local products if you wanted to add anything last minute goodies to your package to send out. Also, they had hand sanitizer and other things in place to ensure a clean interaction, which is good during these crazy times (pandemic) read more

I live in Washington State and had trouble finding out what happened with a package that was shipping from New Orleans. I called Parcels and Post (because it was the last place it had been scanned) hoping they could help me track it down, and find out what happened to it. John McComb answered my call, and went above and beyond to help me out. Long story short he was able to find it, track it, and provide me with the information I was looking for. I was half expecting a "sorry can't help you" when I called, but am so surprised and appreciative of the extra customer service they provided. They went above and beyond. If I lived in New Orleans, I would definitely use this company for shipping. I used to dread shipping things - going to the post office, waiting in line, being told I need to buy tape, and being treated rudely. It was always a terrible experience. Then I found Parcels and Post. I actually look forward to returning online purchases, because the staff here is so friendly, and the process is so smooth. Silly question, I know. Parcels & Post is here to save your day. Located conveniently Uptown on Magazine St., you will totally feel like you're entering the post office in a small town circa 1922. You get friendly, quick service, even at the peak of the mail season. Add that to that the convenience of having access to a variety of mailing options (USPS, UPS and Fed Ex) without having to deal with any of those often nightmarish offices/stores and I prove my point there in the first line. There are also fun New Orleans souvenirs/gifts in here, so don't seal your box of gifts before arriving! I had already and came pretty close to ripping it open to throw in a CD of local holiday music. Pro tip:Live in the area and don't like the idea of packages being left on your doorstep? You can have them mailed to Parcels & Post for $2 a package and they will keep them for a week, possibly longer if you arrange it beforehand, say if you're going out of town! read more

If I could give less than one star I would. These people don't care about their customers and have no kindness at all. I think it's very wrong to not offer to help a women who's 6 months pregnant carry 6 heavy and huge boxes on her own without offering any kind of help down a entire street because no parking is available and I could not quickly double park in front of the store because I had people yelling and flipping me off . The guy who works there just said " I'll refund you for the year that you paid for and if you have any other boxes that will come in after tomorrow they will be returned. " Unbelievable. read more

I very much love Parcels & Post. Fun, unnecessary thing: I cannot say their name without thinking of the song Cinder & Smoke by Iron & Wine. As an apartment dweller, it is highly valuable to have all of my mail securely delivered to a location that won't leave my packages outside for anyone to steal (this is NOLA, after all). On top of all that, it is so worth paying their annual mailbox fee for the personable, friendly mailbox & counter service I always get with this lovely crew of people. This is just for the mailing services, but from when they were in their old location to their new location, they've always had the most helpful and knowledgeable employees. Their new location has easier on-street parking (the lot in the back of the old one was like Tetris for cars). They have my information as well as my mom's address in their computer system, so it makes for fast easy shipping, and they have all the packing supplies needed to get my goods where they need to go. They also have cute artwork and knick knacks for sale, but usually I'm in such a rush to mail something that I haven't had the chance to look around. I had to search for a place to make a quick copy because the FedEx near me had a system failure. Boy am I glad I did that search. This place was listed on Yelp and is right in my neighborhood. The sign is easily visible hanging over a blue awning. Fair enough. However, when I walked in, this gem of a store made me stop in my tracks. It's full of unique and eye catching knick knacks and functional little artistic pieces (magnets, greeting cards, earrings, bow ties, etc) by local artists, much of which pays homage to New Orleans. I made my copy and bought two magnets. The owner (I believe she's the owner) was super pleasant and helpful. She even gave me a "new customer gift." I am so glad I discovered this wonderful little store. I'll be back to get my Hubig's Pie and snowball magnets. read more

Absolutely adore this place! So glad I discovered it, because I use them all the time now. (Well, to be fair, I didn't actually discover Parcels & Post. My roommate recommended them to me.) First of all, in the digital age, it's virtually impossible to buy stamps. Anywhere. It's maddening. As I'm sure you can imagine, Parcels & Post sells stamps, and they'll also handle any and all of your shipping needs. I literally handed them a suitcase I needed to ship back to my mom, no box, no instructions, just a "please send this to [address]" and voila! They did something (probably magic), and my mom received it the following week. So easy. My other favorite thing about this place is the fact that it's far more than a one-stop-shop for all your postage and shipping needs. It feels very much like a community center of sorts: they sell various items from local artists (I found THE perfect wedding card for my cousin here), and they also have one of those "take a book, leave a book" bookcases. Love it. Totally borrowed a book from there the other day, and have a bunch that I'm going to donate to their collection when I come back. This place is super convenient for me, since it's basically right up the street, but it's even worth the drive if you happen to live somewhere other than uptown. There's a parking lot and everything! They also do pick ups if you have stuff to ship, and probably a whole bunch of other stuff I don't even know about. So if I've not covered something in this review, just give 'em a call! I really can't say enough good things about this place. The staff is super friendly and helpful, which is rare to find in this kind of business it seems. They have a lot of cute local artwork, like handmade cards, ornaments, magnets, etc. There's usually some sort of cookies or treats you can help yourself to as well. I usually bring things here that need to be boxed up or require more packaging. They are always helpful in assisting me with whatever I need, and they give you plenty of shipping options for every budget. There is a regular mailbox inside the store as well. I mail original artwork and get unsolicited feedback from my collectors about how well my paintings were packaged. The last person said the painting could have made it around the world. The hubs and I just got hitched in a destination wedding in New Orleans (we live in San Diego), and ended up with a random box of centerpieces, cupcake frosting-covered table numbers, a pair of socks, etc. etc. that needed to make its way back to San Diego (well, most of it did). We had limited time on our last day in nola, so we tried to avoid a post office and found Parcels & Post on my beloved Magazine St. I just think they're great because they have parking in the back, no line, and the gentlemen working there were friendly, polite, easy-going and New Orleansy (I don't know quite what that means, but you know what I mean). We commented as we were driving away that we wish we had a shipping place in San Diego where the people were so down-to-earth and neato. It would make a necessary evil a lot more pleasant :). Oh! I've used Parcels & Post twice to ship large packages that require insurance and delivery confirmation. The first time, I arranged pickup of a large synthesizer/keyboard via phone. They came to my apartment, picked up the synth, got my CC imprint, packed and shipped it. It was an excellent service, reasonably priced, and the synth arrived to its new owner in perfect condition. The second time I brought a package to their store location: a relatively small box, but with contents that needed to be insured at more than $1,000 USD. Once again, the helpful folks at Parcels & Post found me the best deal and had everything taken care of within minutes. So, the prices might be a little more expensive than packing everything yourself and arranging delivery via FedEx, UPS or USPS, but they provide very competent one-stop full service for all the major parcel carriers, and there are times when the convenience is more than worth the extra expense. read more

Easy going and friendly staff work this handy post office located in a great location right on Magazine St. They handle all your parcel posting needs from packaging your goods to shipping them off anywhere around the world. They always quote you before they charge you so they aren't any nasty surprises. They may be a tad more expensive than going directly through the post office but you can't pass up the convenience of the location and friendliness of the staff. They also offer a small range of goods to purchase to add to your shipment or for you to simply keep yourself. They also leave our free nibblies to snack on while you wait. I travel to New Orleans often from Kansas City, MO and love to shop in the antique shops on Magazine. A few months ago I found a beautiful, expensive mask in a very ornate frame in a shop that was going out of business. Took the mask to Fed Ex and they were worried about shipping it. They sent me to Parcels and Post on Magazine. It just so happened when I got to there, they were moving to their new location and not available that day. Back to the Antique shop where they told me they would take care of the shipping. A week passed and nothing arrived in KC. Now when I call the antique shop the phones have been disconnect and I have no way of getting hold of anyone. I thought the mask was for sure lost forever and I would be just OUT the money I had paid for it. Then I remembered I had Parcels and Posts number as well as the name of the owner-Heidi. As a last ditch effort I called Heidi at Parcels and Post. After explained my story, she was MORE THAN HAPPY to go to the antique shop to see what she could find. The saga continues... She finally found someone to let her in at the shop (as they were closed, just cleaning up and getting ready to move) and everyone in the store said "Oh yes we remember seeing that mask but no one knew where it had gone. Then someone said they thought that Duaine had taken the mask. Well, Heidi found out where Duaine lived, went to Duaine's home. She insisted he turn over the mask, which after going out to the garage to find it, he did. Heidi was also worried about shipping the mask, so just held it for me at her store for over a month. I picked up the mask this week, and it is now safe and sound in my old Kansas City home. I would give Parcels and Post in New Orleans a 10+. WAY above and beyond what I could believe. Anpostage, shipping and handling business that is a step above others. I routinely have shipments directed here for adult signature. For a $2 fee for convenience covets a phone dall on arrival. I don't have to hang around at home all day hoping for a FedEx or UPS shipment. They provide a borrowed dolly or help carrying packages if necessary. This service is important because this business is on a busy Magazine Street. The public restroom is a rare luxury. apparently a plate of fresh-baked cookies is a draw for many, based on some conversations I overheard here. read more
