We joined annual membership and began taking lessons after trying out a simulator, drinks and interviewing a coach. Overall experiences have been great so far. The highlight of this place is, I think, the professionalism that the owner upholds. What I mean by saying professionalism is that he knows how to meet the needs of patrons, as opposed to pressing on too much or neglecting any requests. After a few visits and joining memberships, he greets us exactly in the same way by saying 'what can I do for you?' whenever we visit the IDG Club Golf & Cafe.

Playing from the white tees, our foursome made it around in about 4.5 hours, standard for an outing in a scamble format. The course itself is tree lined, and there is a little water out there, so some trouble if you hit a bad shot. Which, of course, we all do. The course was on the longish side, so you do need a good drive on par fours to hope to get on in two for birdie. Our group did a few times, and the greens were flat, but with very gentle breaks at the hole. Hit a few bomb putts, but we mostly played par golf in the scamble format. The outing was with a close friend at work, I believe, for his kids Jewish school. The food was fantastic post round, and the open bar was great as well. Not sure if this is open to the public, my guess it is not, private club, but if you are ever in Wayne NJ try and check it out. Fun course.

The conditions are excellent and the greens rolled fast and are very tough. The driving range allows you to hit any club in your bag. They recently opened up a new pool house with seating and a beautiful bar. Food was excellent. I wish I lived closer but if you get the opportunity to play here, do not pass it up. The food is alight. This is a place that get pretty packed. My experience there was a unique one. I got a game card and loaded it up with $30 to use to play in the arcade. However most of the games weren't working. There were games that looked to be worked but it turns out they weren't. So basically any money I had on my card got eaten up and when I went to customer service they claimed to put it back but when I checked the balance it wasn't true. Perhaps it was the card but it was just a terrible experience. A lot of the people working seemed very inexperienced.

Parking in multiple lots (though the signs sometimes led people astray, too many choices in the jughandles of NJ, I guess). Lots of vendors and sponsors coming in; one down side was a lack of clear bags from the vendors (too much to carry), I wish they'd had a locker system to take advantage of placing things within to safekeep as you walked around the course. The course was beautiful, green, and cool (the weather was perfect), and the grounds crews were bustling (the cart drivers moved too fast - almost did almost run me over twice). The PGA volunteers however were nice and pleasant, including Bill celebrating his 95th birthday! I like the location last year better (hard to beat the views at The Liberty National Course), but the setup was very familiar and perfectly interesting for most of the fans. The driving range was just at the entryway, which was nice, you had to walk past in order to get into the live greens, so good placement there. Had golf lessons all over (Mastercard, Barclays, NJ Golf Association, etc.), and a food truck section that looked mighty delicious with lobster rolls, French Cajun, fried cheese curds and other options not normally found on a golf course. That was a nice touch, in my opinion. The facilities were top-notch if you were near the 18th green. Once you ventured further out, though, the lack of bathrooms was more evident, although plenty of vendors all over. And odd sign flickering issues as they switched from stat to stat at several locations (I blame the electronic sign vendor on that one).

Had to take yellow school buses between the parking lot (by the Garden State Plaza mall) and the club - shuttle bus service is typical for these types of events. Arrive to beautiful upstairs club dining room overlooking the magnificent rolling hills tree lined golf club. Two practice putting areas were fast and True. Staff was friendly and helpful. Downstairs grill room has seen better days as the locker room also should get a bit of a makeover with it's 1970's showers. This does not detract from a 5 star golf facility with meticulously manicured tee boxes, fairways, sand traps and greens. Outside cocktail area overlooking the course after the round was the final treat as you certainly have to go a long ways towards topping the golfing portion of this wonderful facility. Tennis courts and pool looked really nice but I didn't not get to partake. All and all a fabulous golf experience.

Few things are better than a warm summer night and some baseball…read more The Jackals are a member of the Can-Am League, a professional independent baseball league. That means that while they're professional and play at a high level, they have no MLB team affiliations. They play at Yogi Berra Stadium on the campus of Montclair State University. I guess I'll break down my review into different categories so it's easy to browse. BASEBALL This is obviously the most important part - the baseball itself. It is professional baseball, it's entertaining to watch, and sometimes when you just want to go out and watch a game, baseball is baseball. I'm not really sure what I'd equate the skill level to in affiliated minor league baseball, maybe Single-A. The guys are good, and they do sometimes get picked up by MLB teams, almost always for their minor league affiliates, but still. STADIUM Yogi Berra Stadium is nice there's not much to say about it other than that it's an intimate and simple stadium to watch baseball. Everything is well maintained, including the field which looks to be great quality. PRICE The price is one of the best things about the Jackals, and it's why I recommend you check them out even if you aren't the biggest baseball fan or if you're just looking for something to do. Tickets are always super well priced. You can get in and get a good seat for $12, and even the most expensive tickets right behind the plate are only $17. Young kids are free. The concessions are also very well priced - beer, food, everything. They also have daily specials that'll make it even easier on your wallet like Thirsty Thursdays, a true minor league baseball staple, where they've got $1 domestic beers and $2 hot dogs. They've also got fireworks shows post game on Saturdays and often have swag giveaways. Parking is free. OVERALL Overall, I highly recommend checking out a Jackals game. Relax, grab a hot dog and a cold beer, and enjoy some baseball. It's a great activity when you want something to do no matter what your age. It's also a really good activity if you have kids. I'm very happy to live nearby, and I bet you will be too.
