Three strikes + 1 and you are out. This is the fourth time in less than one month that this store has demonstrated total incompetency. Strike 1- drop off a bike that was serviced prior to the end of the season last fall to have the front tire inflated. Go to pick up the bike and the repair person cannot find the ticket. After waiting for ten minutes, he eventually sorts through the unordered pile of tickets, finds the ticket, and then wheels out the bike. The bike now has a deflated rear tire, mind you the bike was outside all winter and the rear tire was in perfect condition when brought into the store. Must wait until the next trip down the hill to pick up the bike as I am on a tight time schedule. Strike 2- Called by shop about adjusting front brake, agreed to have a new brake disc installed. Pick up the bike en route to a location with my daughter and discover upon riding the bike that it was totally unsafe. The brakes did not engage until fully pulled back. Strike 3- I return the bike to the store for front brake repair and am charged $90 for the front and rear hydraulic job. There was nothing wrong with the hydraulics when the bike was brought in originally. Strike 3+ I am called to pick up my fat tire bike. I drop by the shop en route to more work with the expectation that I can grab a quick ride on my way home. Low and behold- the shop wheels out the wrong Surli and then apologizes because they do not have my bike ready. Total incompetence with a need for management. read more

First class customer service. Needed a tube and a chain. The guys just popped the bike up on the rack and put the chain on for me and made a few other tweaks. Nice conversation with Brendan (sp) and very reasonably priced. Again, just great customer service! read more

All time favorite bike shop from mat su all the way through anchorage. Been to them all, only really felt comfortable in a couple but paramount takes the cake. Good selection of bikes, friendly welcoming staff. Real down to earth vibe with good reasonable prices! My bike I bought is a Borealis flume gx eagle groupset, this is an aluminum bike that is lighter then the full carbons it was perched next to. They gave me a great deal and I am definitely going back for service and future purchases. Happy riding! read more

Had a great experience here. Spring time means the kids want to pull out the bikes. It also means that you realize how much the kids have grown since you put the bikes away for winter. We were in need of some new bikes and wanted to go with something with more quality than your standard Walmart / Dept. store selections.... something that would last a few years. On the other hand, we weren't wanting to go super high end..... we wanted to find the middle ground because kids grow quickly and are infamously known for being the reason that none of us can have nice things. Paramount had a nice range of prices and we were able to find exactly what we needed with the employees help. The kiddos were able to test ride out in the parking lot. We were given good tips and advice all the way through. The service was stellar, the products are quality, and the employees were all very helpful. I would recommend this shop. read more

I moved to Anchorage a couple of months ago and after visiting a few bike shops, I purchased a commuter bike from this place. The people in the shop were very friendly, conversational, and knowledgeable. I've been back there twice, once for a flat tire (which they fixed for $13) and once for my free brake adjustment that most bike shops here offer customers to use within a month after a purchase of a bike. Each time I've been very well taken care of. This past week when I went for my brake adjustment, I asked Peter and Dave (the repair-people) lots of questions about their suggestions on biking in the snow, wearing reflective gear, etc. They were, again, very friendly and knowledgeable and made me feel well taken care of. I totally suggest this place! The shop usually is not packed out like some of my other bike shop experiences (I think because Paramount is located in the South part of Anchorage, away from the heart of the city?) and so I've always gotten assistance immediately. I've never felt rushed by the staff or pressured to buy anything. read more

Pushy sales people that love to tell me what I want instead of let me tell them what I am looking for is the biggest downside to this establishment. It really deters me from just going in there to look around to see what is new and shop around. The tune shop is nice and fast, but they do try to sell you a little extra on the tail end - but easily take no for an answer. All in all, ok... just not my go to place. read more

I'm pretty pissed off at this shop because I had a trip planned to go to the bike park at Alyeska Resort and I called a day in advance to see if they had a bike I could rent. They had a demo bike for me and I had them put my name on it for the day I was going to the trip. Well the day of the trip came up and I went to the store to pick up the bike and I walked up to an employee and told them I was there to pick up the bike. He gave me a paper to start filling out. To my surprise there was a man looking at the demo bike and the employees kept looking at me weird since im a younger guy renting a bike and kept saying "are you sure you want to rent this"? And I overheard the guy saying he would pay extra for the demo bike instead. But I called in advance so I got the right of the bike. Now in the middle of signing the paper the employee asks me where I'm taking it and I tell him I'm taking it to Alyeska. He then tells me he can't let me take the bike to Alyeska and I'm not allowed to rent out the bike. What?! The demo bike was a transition sentinel which is a perfectly good bike to take to a bike park. I'm not going off of damn cliffs with it. He makes up some excuse about the travel not being large enough. What's funny is a friend of mine rented that bike for Alyeska and let me use it when we went a year before and it had no problems and was amazing. Not to mention he told me nothing of them not allowing you to take the demo bike to the bike park. He just told me the price of renting and that it was a large full suspension and to show up on time. Just because I was a younger customer and another man offered more he declined me to use the bike for a bullshit reason and I had to find a bike last minute for my trip. A whole waste of my morning cause they didn't like the thought of me using their demo bike read more

I got my badass Embolden from Paramount a year ago August. I got plenty of help in my two visits to the shop (I went to REI to test some bikes in between) and my purchase experience was relaxed and fun. The guys negotiated in some accessories and I was happy with the value I received and the setup of my new bike. The bike came with a free adjustment to be used after some riding time. Shortly after my purchase, my knee crapped out and I ended getting a new one (knee that is) in the spring. I didn't get any hours to speak of on the bike until fall, and by then my free adjustment had long since expired. I brought it in for the adjustments anyway, and they honored my coupon, with smiles. I am terrible with names, but Robert or Richard did the work while chatting with me and my husband. He gave us several pointers and information about the tubeless tires. On the way out, the guy at the counter checked with us to make sure we'd gotten what we needed and then gave us a nice "goodbye". I will be pleased to return to Paramount for my biking needs. read more

I LOVE this bike shop. I bought a racy road bike for a 360 mile tour from them 3 years ago. Great bike and perfectly set up for me. I even had a mechanic from another bike shop say "somebody really set this up well for you". If you are a middle aged or older woman they really know how to fit a bike to you. I would be afraid to go anywhere else. When I went back to buy a touring bike for a self supported trip they talked me out of it and figured out a way I could carry gear on my beloved road bike. Moved to Anchorage with comfort bikes, but wanted a fat tire bike. Good stocked inventory (a couple others didn't have accessories in stock such as panniers!). Caught them on a sale and prices were good. Salesmen and service people were friendly, informed. I did not find anyone pushy at all. They gave is different options, were informed about differences. Set up the bike with accessories within an hour. Very pleased with the shop, will make it our go to. read more

It's a shame. Have been using this as my primary bike shop for a few years. I ride used bikes so I'm not dropping thousands on new bikes but I do spend $500-$1000 a year on parts to keep all the family bikes going strong. Most of the staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable but there are a few there who are condescending and rude. One too many bad experiences will now steer my business to the other competent and friendlier businesses in Anchorage. read more
