Ice cream on the bottom w/a snow-cap. Love Paradise Shave Ice
    Catherine R.

Paradise Shave Ice was the main event, next to our guest of honor, at a staff gathering just yesterday. The guests have continued to thank me profusely for organizing everything and for introducing (some of them) to shave ice. The service and the product were fantastic- they didn't even get flustered or irritated when a bunch of kids walked past (the space was not closed) and begged them for a cup. They joked and kept everything light. We will definitely keep PSI on our preferred caterer list. Go for the POG!

Ice Days - Strawberry Kakigōri (Regular-$12)

4.5 STARS Ice…read moreimported from Japan? That's crazy work! The Kakigōri must be bomb! And, it better be for the price. Ice Days is a pop-up inside Jin Sho. Open on Sundays only from 11 am - 3 pm. They only put two tables outside so you're at the mercy of others leaving. There's a stack of outdoor tables but only for use when Jin Sho is open. M E N U Kakigōri: Japanese shaved ice Flavors: Strawberry, mango, matcha, hōjicha, and peach (last day today) Two sizes: Mini Cup ($9-$11), Bowl ($12-$14) Oat milk syrup: +$1 K A G I K Ō R I I was so bummed that the peach was sold out. There was no IG post it was the last day of this offering and there would be limited quantities. * Mango (Bowl-$13): https://tinyurl.com/24vuz3mk The shaved ice was snow-like, perfectly fluffy and melt in your mouth. Great texture but sadly, there was very little of it. As we dug in, the mound of shaved ice had a huge hollow hole filled with whipped cream and coconut jelly. Served with four chucks of sweet, ripen mango and topped with toasted coconut. We usually struggle to finish one kakigōri but this was gone in several bites so we ordered an another one. * Strawberry (Bowl-$12): https://tinyurl.com/5dwpx4mw Equally refreshing but also had a huge hollow hole. This one was filled with whipped cream and two QQ mochi balls. The fresh strawberries were ripe and the strawberry puree ran quite sweet. Overall, excellent quality Kakigōri but premium baller PA pricing for the portion. The amount of actual shaved ice is a small fraction of what you receive at other dessert shops. Blame it on the tariffs, I guess.

Our family is Singaporean, and anyone who knows Singaporeans knows that food is practically religion. We are passionate foodies, and Shiok has been our family's go-to spot for authentic Singaporean food for more than a decade. This is a beloved family-run restaurant, and you can feel that warmth in both the food and the service. As you're savoring a bowl of laksa, a plate of chicken rice, or a roti prata starter, it's common for a family member to stop by, say hi, and see how you're doing. That personal touch is part of what makes Shiok so special. A couple of years ago, we were heartbroken when Shiok lost its longtime Menlo Park location after the building was sold. They managed to continue operating through a ghost kitchen in Redwood City, and we were so grateful to still be able to order our favorite dishes. Now that they have relocated back to Menlo Park, we could not be happier. If you love Asian food -- especially Singaporean food -- you have to try Shiok. Our family favorites include the laksa, Hainanese chicken rice, roti prata, char kway teow, sayur lodeh, beef rendang, chicken satay, and tahu goreng. The family meal for 4 is also an incredible deal and a great way to try multiple dishes. Shiok is a true local treasure: authentic, delicious, welcoming, and family-run. We are so glad they are back in Menlo Park and hope many more people discover and support them.
