We can't say enough about the service department at the Calera location. The maintenance technicians took time to explain what needed to be done, showed us how they would repair our issue and have provided updates and information well beyond what we expected. Great American RV corporate needs to use this service department as a template for how to address issues and work with customers. Hello we got our numbers from other rv dealerships with way lower prices. Ben thought he was doing us a favor but in the end we would have actually over paid for the stuff that was going to be added. where were you getting your numbers from Ben? we were told $6500 to add a solar panel to the roof to a camper that was already solar prepped and just needed a solar panel. then it was $4500. Make up your mind Ben. We wanted an oven installed and we were going to be paying for that but Ben was acting like he was doing us a favor by adding it in. Then when we saw it comes with a tracking device we said we didn't want that and we would not pay for it but he said it was something that had to be paid for, no Ben if a customer doesn't want it then you have to remove it or don't force them to pay for something they don't want. He ended up being a very pushy car salesman that left a bad feeling with us. We went to another dealership and bout the same camper with them adding the same exact stuff we wanted on it for about $5000 cheaper than what Ben was offering us. The camper was actually $3000 cheaper at the other place. it was a much better experience than we got with Ben at this so called great American rv because there was nothing great about it or the experience at all. I will never step foot on this lot ever again unless it is to just waste their time. I have a big following on YouTube and I will make sure to warn people to stay away from this dealership after the pushy way Ben tried to push on us. Stay away from pushy salesmen and know when to walk away from any deal due to the salesman. It wasn't a deal so we walked away and I thank God we did and got a much better deal and experience at the other place and in the end they even threw in all the extras we needed to go camping right away for free And it was offered to us after we signed all paperwork and paid for the camper. That is what I call wanting to make sure the customer is heard and appreciated. We don't mind driving a little further for all of our camper needs to be met since we plane to camp in that area anyways as well as travel the states to visit all the National Parks we can! Our son is autistic and it is his dream to do that and make camping videos and now he is going to get that chance to do so thanks to Ben being an absolute nightmare to deal with and for pushing us out the door to the other dealership and getting the camper we wanted at a steal of a deal! Don't buy from this place especially if they want to force you to buy a tracking device that you don't want or need. That alone is bad business and illegal.

By 2024, the camper was completely totaled from leaks and damage. From the start: the roof had a staple in it, they didn't seal around the slide-out edges, and the slide-out wasn't set properly. We dealt with leaks for years, the refrigerator had to be replaced, and water damage destroyed parts of the floor. Mobile RV repair techs have told me that 75% of their work is fixing Johnston RV's mistakes. They sell you on their "Lifetime Warranty" -- what a joke. They're rude once you've signed the papers, and I even found out they make money off the interest on your loan. The only genuinely nice people we ever met were other customers in the same boat. If you're considering Johnston RV, do yourself a favor: pay for an independent RV inspection before buying. They push walkthroughs quickly and hope you don't notice the issues. I've talked to other buyers and repair techs over the years, and the message is the same: Never buy from Johnston RV! Don't let the "Home of the Lifetime Warranty" line fool you. Save yourself thousands in repair bills and endless headaches -- shop somewhere else.

Upon arrival, the salesman we'd talked to on the phone (Taylor) met us at the door. He got pulled to another family but made sure we were in another salesman's (Steve) hands before he left us. Steve was super patient - he gave us his opinion instead of just telling us, 'Oh, yeah it's great' every time we looked at something. We are first timers; he took that into consideration - teaching and informing. They have a pretty large selection despite having sold more campers during quarantine months. After finally agreeing on a camper we met with Barbara in finance. She was very kind; she gave very thorough direct explanations - no jive or fast talking. She reminded me of everyone's favorite aunt! Our final stop was with Dylan. He did a one-on-one class with us over the how, what, where, when, why of the entire camper - he was (again) super patient. Answered all of our questions and took a lot of my anxiety away. Okay, so CU has an RV park across the street from the dealership. It's called The Cove. There's a lake, pool and a park. They offered one night free, which was great for us (if we got stuck or had trouble on our first time - we're across the street from the experts)! We also got a $25 gift card to their store.. Check Walmart's prices first and get something special - newbie advice. I say all this to say, we had a really good experience at CU and The Cove. I'd recommend them to anyone.

I really want to travel more and having a travel trailer will dramatically cut down the COVID exposure We have a Ford F-150 so we can tow one. Anyway, Tony came out and showed us 3 models. That isn't the point dude We want to understand the different features of each unit. We only need to hear that they will train us on how to use it once Tony must have said that 15 times. It was annoying. He said it so many times, I finally had to tell him. We know you will train us, but we want to understand the features of each trailer. We had to figure out the differences ourselves. He couldn't seem to switch from the company sales pitch to explaining features of each. We are going to shop around and maybe we will come back. What would be great is having a "build sheet" that lists what is great about each trailer. Features such as: any warranty, weight, size of hot water tank, there has to be differences. What are done of them?

Took it in because the warning buzzer that indicates the leveling jacks are down wouldn't shut off. Took it in and they told us it was the control panel that raises and lowers the jacks. They replaced the control panel and said another wiring harness was needed. Then they said it needed a new hydraulic pump. The first time I went to pick it up the buzzer was going off. I was told you have to use the emergency up button. OK, I did that and on the way home (5 mile drive) I had to press the button every couple of minutes because the buzzing would start. Took it back and they were supposed to have repaired it correctly that time. Nope, the first we went to move it at home the buzzing was back. Took it a 3rd time and this time he said it was a leveling jack and he wouldn't charge for labor, just the $1100 jack. Today he said the price went up on him and it was $1309+. What started out as, if I remember correctly, a $3000 fix turned into a $15,000 repair job after 3 visits. The first time when we picked it up they had tried to use super glue to attach trim around the newly installed control panel. They got super glue all around it but it was still warped. It appeared that whoever installed it broke some tabs because when we took it back the 2nd time they cleaned up the super glue and put screws in to hold it in place. This last time we got it back we discovered a cover had been removed inside one of the storage compartment. This cover protected some wiring and they had left the cover and screws in the storage compartment to bounce around. 3 visits and $15,000 we think it might be fixed but he was uncommitted when asked if this would do it. Oh and as an extra kick in the gut, they tacked on an extra $564 for "shop supplies" that as I was told was something their software does automatically. Run, run away. Update 4-30-2026. We sold the camper today and 45 minutes after the buyer left he called to ask what the warning buzzer was for. It had started going off while taking it home.

This should not happen. They have lots of products in the retail store. There are plenty of beautiful RVs for sale as well. I wish we had purchased our RV here.
