Well- with the above average pricing, I expect above average food. Simple. What we got was between borderline disgusting and the wish to just go in the kitchen and make it myself. My wife had the pancakes and I had the breakfast with potatoes 2 sunny side up eggs, 2 sausages and bacon. I mean- how do you think a sunny side up swimming in egg white on top is good? If they think that's how a sunny side up egg needs to look like- well- they might consider asking people next time- I make sunny side up eggs very often and there are tricks not to burn it and still have all of the egg white getting solid- If the cook doesn't know, feel free to contact me. I didn't say nothing because it took already almost 30 minutes for our 2 simple breakfasts to get to our table. The bacon was ok- and the potatoes also ok- I'm not saying good- I'm saying OK. The sausages super greasy. also- the salt in the salt dispenser was wet. I had to open the bottom to get salt out. Let's not forget this piece of rock supposedly a biscuit. It was burned and hard and Idk if it was just a left over from the day before or if the cook didn't know when to take it out of the oven. It was not edible. My wife's pancakes.. I don't know- they were dry, tasted like grease (Idk who makes pancakes in grease and not butter) and had a very weird color, what was even worse with the dark lighting (not an issue, it just increased the visual impression of the pancakes). My wife asked and they said- oh- we put some cinnamon in the doe. Well- Not saying my wife is allergic- but a warning would had been good- and maybe a choice, as it's not everyone's favorite to get pancakes with cinnamon in them which do not even taste remotely like cinnamon- I tried. And then charging us over $4,00 for sweet tea??? come on. I get that for soda- and for the beach- location- but come on... So overall- I will not say the food was super bad- it was on the verge where I'd say- if there would be a waffle house or a Cracker Barrel beside Rita's, go there. You get slightly better food quality for a 1/3rd of the price. Needless to say- we didn't eat there for my wife's birthday dinner. Over all- we paid a whooping $50.00 for 2 little below average breakfasts. So if people giving more than 2 starts for this restaurant- I wonder how bad of food they are actually used to. Conclusion: Absolutely not worth it.

Mother turned 82 and wanted a visit to Charleston with oysters on the request list. After spending the morning walking the Battery, Waterfront Park and Rainbow Row we took a nap. Arriving to Bowens brought back so many fond James Island/Folly Beach memories. We had a dozen raw and they were so juicy! Mother also had the fried delicious oysters plate while hubby ordered the fish and shrimp fried. I chose Frogmore stew. The view is incomparable! Being on the water near sunset even on a cloudy day was just the chefs kiss! The staff was super accommodating and even provided key lime pie for mother's birthday. We will return but later when we can do AYCE steamed!

Yikes. I think we ordered the wrong thing!!…read more My husband and I came here for lunch after kayaking next door. We ordered the fish & chips plate to share. We are from the Northeast where ordering a seafood plate of any kind is plenty enough to share with one (or more) people, but NOT this one! The portion size was shockingly small in relation to the price (or it's just not what we're used to) and was not fit for sharing. The fish was flounder, which we've never had before and wanted to try it as we are used to having cod as the fish in "fish & chips." It looked flat and dry, and tasted as such even though it seemed to be fried nicely. After several bites, we decided we didn't like it but I cant figure out if that's because we actually don't like flounder or if maybe we got a bad piece of fish since it was really sad looking?? Anyways, I'm giving two stars as I liked the fries and hushpuppies. Everything seemed to be fried well. The people sitting at the bar next to us got completely different meals and they looked much better than ours. I'd be willing to come back and give this place another try as it was very crowded when we came so I understand any place can be busy and have an off-day!

This place isn't a dive but a true diamond in the rough. Located on the base of one of the last bridges heading into Folly Beach they are providing amazing seafood at great prices! We started with cocktails which arrived in mason jars and packed a boozy punch. I order the Whisky Business which had Jack Daniels, Grand Marnier, lemon juice, simple syrup and a dash of bitters. It was clean, slightly fruity and perfect for sipping. My wife ordered the Lolo's Lemonade which featured Signal Point Vodka, fresh squeezed lemonade. You could add cherry, peach, strawberry or blueberry if you want but we had it plain. Super refreshing on a hot sunny day. For our starter we ordered the Buffalo Fried shrimp with blue cheese crumbles. It packed just the right amount of heat and a generous sprinkling of chunky blue cheese. The shrimp were large and definitely fresh. Awesome start! My wife ordered the 1/3 pound of fried scallops and upgraded it to a meal with fries, slaw and hush puppies. The scallops were huge and seriously flavorful. She was very pleased. i tried one of their signature dishes, the New Orleans. Shrimp, crawfish, andouille sausage with bell peppers, onions in a creamy Cajun sauce and topped over a grit cake. It was a flavor explosion! Just the right level of heat with fresh ingredients that was like shrimp and grits on steroids. The grit cake was nice and crisp on the outside while maintaining creamy grits on the inside. I highly recommend this delight. Now they have homemade key lime pie so how could I say no. It was the perfect tart ending to a great meal and I would stop here just for this. Service is excellent and this hidden gem is a must visit!

The seafood was fresh, and the crawfish were definitely the highlight of the table. The street corn was also very delicious. Overall, it's a great spot for fresh seafood and a laid-back atmosphere. I'd happily come back and try more of the menu.

A true pioneer in moving the fish market in a sustainable direction to make sure we have ample fish populations for years to come. Now the food? Delicious. Fresh. Flavorful. The ceviche with the sticky rice add on is my favorite here, but everything is absolutely yummy! Poboy and crab cakes round out my top 3. Inside, you'll find a small space with limited seating and a counter to order at. Lots of tables outside (both on their porch and out back in the beautiful trees), so plan your attire accordingly. Big group? Likely not sitting inside! They have a fairly large wine selection and beverage fridge, so you should be able to find something to make the whole group happy. Casual, relaxed, friendly spot. Everytime I drive by, I feel the draw to pull in!

I had the smoked fish dip, served with saltines and fresh sliced vegetables for dipping, along with the house oysters and a glass of white wine. The vegetables were sliced perfectly for scooping up the dip and made a fresh, crisp alternative to the saltines. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and delicious. The setup is casual and easy -- you walk up to the counter to order, and they give you a digital pager to let you know when your food is ready. I also appreciated details like the recycled utensils and the overall relaxed feel of the place. The service stood out before I even walked in. Someone was in the parking lot helping direct guests on where to park, which was a nice touch and made arriving easy. Great seafood, friendly service, a relaxed waterfront atmosphere, and a really enjoyable experience. Definitely worth a stop on James Island!
