The new interior refresh is nice, modern, and inviting...and a pleasant departure from the typical Indian restaurant... Although I think some modern cultural artwork, paintings, and decorations would be very fitting as an add-on to the Jalwa restaurant. Our waiter was very pleasant (although he spoke in hushed tones...and it was difficult to hear him.) He also got a little confused as to what we were looking for with respect to just wanting the papadums with chutney (which is a standard appetizer at most Indian restaurants that we've patronized,) but instead we got vegetable pakora with chutney and just plain papadums on the side. Hmmmm. Nevertheless, it was all delicious. My wife's main entree was the butter chicken, and we both shared a saag aloo. I had my go-to chicken vindaloo, and it was delicious. The portion sizes are humongous, which is a nice departure from the typical Indian restaurant where you pay $15 and get maybe half the bowl that Jalwa provides. Overall, an excellent experience and will be back to patronize more often. Oh, and they're newly updated and revised menu is awesome! Dozens and dozens of options. It took us at least 10 minutes to get through it all to figure out what we wanted! Four stars for good food (and plenty of it), good service, and a nice new atmosphere as compared to Aroma. Absolutely recommend!

However, the aroma of curry and other Indian spices give it away-you're in a restaurant. Phew! As I usually do, I ordered the Chicken Tikka Masala-not only is it my favorite dish, but it makes it easier for me to compare place to place when I order the same thing. This one was just ok. It had a generous helping of onions, which I enjoy the flavor of, but it shouldn't be the star of the show, and in this case it certainly was. It also had quite a bit of green pepper-again, not a bad thing, but still more than enough. The chicken was tasty, but there definitely wasn't as much as I would have hoped for. The ratios were a bit off-I'd prefer more meat than vegetables. I'd be a terrible vegetarian. The flavor was great and the plain naan was a nice accompaniment which I dipped in the masala. Service was subdued, yet attentive.

I will agree that the combination of flavors resulted in a party in my mouth. The tikka masala was delicious and so was the garlic cheese naan, which I dipped in the curry. We also tried the mango and strawberry lassi. They both had a great flavor, but were on the sweeter side. My son also enjoyed his mango coke.

Beyond that great start, the food was wonderful in every way! Everything came out fresh, flavors were balanced and unique, which is hard to do as I've been to many Indian restaurants. The chicken tikka masala was classic and comforting. We also got the vegetable samosas, garlic naan, garlic chili naan, and Saag soup. Honestly I've never had Saag soup before, but it was delicious! My son couldn't get enough. The star for me was the chef's special Hawaiian chicken! It was a lovely mix of sweet and savory, like a tropical Indian fusion. The pineapple was delightful, the potatoes cooked and tender. The chicken itself was spiced well and elevated the whole dish! The only thing I didn't like was the prices. Most of the items were the same price (or more expensive) than my favorite dine-in Indian restaurants. When I visit a fast-food style eatery, I don't necessarily want to pay the same price as a sit-down restaurant. Just my personal opinion! Ultimately, I walked away a true fan of Munchkart!
