I have a Honda lawn mover that I had purchased from one of the big box stores a few years back. Time for a tune up so off I go to Washington Tractor in my home town here in Lynden. I explained to the salesperson working the parts counter that I needed a drive belt for my self propelled Honda lawn mover, a spark plug and some motor oil. The sales person asked if I purchased my lawn mower from them? I answered no. Then he looked annoyed and asked me what model it was? I said that I wasn't sure, I honestly thought that Honda would have used a standard belt on all of their mowers. I said I'm not sure of the model but I can show you which mover it is, as they had a very similar one on their showroom floor. The salesman said that I didn't know the exact model then he wouldn't be able to help me. Once again, I said that I could show him which mover I had as it was almost identical to one that he had on the floor. The salesman said in an annoyed tone, "why don't you walk over there and get the model # from the mower and come back and let me know". I thought really? You cant even walk over with me to help me out? So off I go to get the model #. I looked around the mower for a couple of minutes but couldn't find a model #. Another salesman was walking by and I asked him which model # this specific mower was. The salesman helped me right away. So back I go to the first salesman behind the parts counter and gave him the model #. He looks up the part # and tells me that the belt isn't in stock and that he would need to order it and it would take a week to get it. Disappointing customer service!! I found the belt that I needed on Amazon with two day shipping AND in stock at the big box store. I get that I didn't purchase my mower from them didn't originally nor was in the store to buy a $100 000 Tractor but a little customer service goes a long way to buying local!! read more
