PappaRich has hit Auckland! A highly raved about Malaysian family eatery almost reminiscent of Denny's. A few days ago at a blogger's lunch, I was lucky to sample most of the menu. Ordering is easy. The menu is massive because every dish has an accompanying photo. Even kids can point and order exactly what they feel like. You fill the order yourself and push a button to get the attention of the wait staff. Excellent. As a fast paced almost ADHD person, there's no need for me to jiggle my leg while I try to flag down someone. We started off with fried chicken skin. Holy crap. On other days I would have steered right away from this heart attack, but I'm so glad the foodie in me won. We all know chicken skin is the best part of KFC chicken and it always irks me when people tear it right off. These were super addictive - crunchy and not greasy at all. The fat under the skin must have melted right off. Follow my mantra: Gym furiously, eat furiously. One of the highlights is their roti canai. There's a wide variety you can order. Ones filled with egg and onion as featured above (roti teur bawang) and sugar dusted ones (roti planta). My favourite was the roti canai with beef rendang. I put the swirl of roti to good use to mop up the sauce and beef that fell apart beautifully. Heaven. Flavours were a bit of a hit or miss. After trying their laksa and noodles with sweet sauce (above), other fried rice and noodle dishes were a little bland in comparison. The shaved ice came impressively surrounded by all kinds of toppings including grass jelly, red bean paste, lychee and sweet corn. I had been warned that sweet corn with shaved ice would be an acquired taste. Personally it didn't bother me, I had taste tested too many of my own quirky combinations in my kitchen. One dessert I'd advise you to keep to yourself is their egg sago pudding. All my favourites in a coconut base. PappaRich is in an ideal location under Skycity Cinemas as part of the Skycity Metro complex. Ideal for a quick bite in town before a movie or any other event, it's affordable and tasty. I wouldn't hesitate to go back again.

PappaRich is the new Malaysian to hit Auckland from the Australian chain. A heavy black folder yields a huge compendium of options, page after page of traditional Malaysian dishes. Glossy photos of most dishes take the guesswork out of ordering. You will need to write down your own order on the notepad provided which reminds me of being in a Bingo game. Press the green button to summon the staff and a uniformly dressed waiter will run over to retrieve your order. The service was not so quick considering we got there before the lunch masses. The curries come on a metal tray resembling something from in a prison but the contents were great. I could have done with a little more chicken for $14, I got 3 small pieces only. There's some impressive flakiness going on with the Roti, the billowy light pastry perfect for soaking up any sauce. The chutney had some almighty kick. I'd like to go back and try a Laksa and noodles to at least try a good cross section of the menu.

After running major errands in the city, I was flagging fast. I needed something quick and easy and then remembered that PappaRich had a location in the back of the Sky World complex. Remembering a friend rave about the signature fried chicken skins, the choice was made. For those unfamiliar with the chain, you are seated at a table with menus, an order card and a call button. You select your menu items, note your order on the docket and press the call button. I ordered the ubiquitous chicken skins, the curried chicken and a bandung (soy milk with rose syrup). Word to the wise - this was WAY too much food, thank goodness the restaurant provides take out containers. The fried chicken skins were very snackable but I'm not sure they were as rave-worthy as my friend led me to believe. Definitely try them for the novelty factor if it is your first time, but it wasn't a repeat for me. The bandung was a little bit too sweet for my personal taste - the rose syrup tasted very similar to a Fry's Turkish Delight bar which wasn't what I'd expected. The absolute standout for me was the curried chicken - there was a seriously spicy kick perfectly balanced out by the side of steamed bread. That bread is SO good; I can understand why the steamed bread with peanut butter is a popular choice amongst city-based students. Service is utilitarian but fast, useful if you are using this as a port of call before catching a show at one of the nearby theatres. I'll definitely be back for a pre-show peanut butter and steamed bread snack in future.

Papa rich lived up to the memory of dinning in multiple Papariches in Malaysia. Big servings, quick service, tasty dishes. I didn't have the caul to try the side dish of crispy chicken skins, but I have heard they are amazing. I ordered the Nasi lemak, and I would recommed this dish to newbies of Malaysian food, mixture of heat, flavour and I love the fried anchovies. The Roti was expertly made, and lots of styles to choose from. Good value $50 for 2 peps dinning in. Popular little spot, on the second floor above the food court. This place was jammed when me arrived at 6.30pm and a queue was waiting for tables as we left.

I have been dying to try this place out ever since it was opened. Finally got a chance last night and was not disappointed! The decor of the place takes me back to Singapore and the food itself is pretty decent and has authentic flavours. The highlights were the wide range of drinks they had and also the different types of Roti!! I can't wait to go back there and try the rest of the menu out!!

A famous Malaysia franchise from Australia finally opened in Auckland! Extensive menu with many drink options. We had papparich chicken with flat rice noodle and a red chicken rice. The flat noodle soup is nice with chicken and prawn soup base, the chicken was abit blanc and tough..However the red chicken taste really good and not something i can find in other Malaysia restaurants. We also tried their milk tea...it's really nice! Just remember this place doesn't take bookings and it gets really busy so you can expect to wait for about 15 to 30 mins to be seated...

It's a Morden fast Asian food eatery, mainly from the southeastern part of Asia. Very convenient if u need a quick and clean bite before go to the shows or movies around. It's a fast food place but not a food court, has service , proper table . The price is slightly higher. But u can go with group, couple or just on your own. Very much like the fast food place in hk or Singapore etc, mid range. Food is not bad but not enough I found.

The food at Paparich is very good. I tried the Roti Chanai and it was excellent. The roti was crisp and just big enough to soak up the Curry chicken and side dishes. I would definitely recommend it. My partner had the Haianese chicken and it looked very juicy and tasty. I will be back

I recommend the char kuey teow as it has a good price to it, and has a good handful of noodles and chicken (I normally order chicken for this dish) each time you order and the chicken laksa for spicy beginners, as it isn't hot to taste the soup and the noodle is yummy with bits of chicken :9 The atmosphere of the foodcourt could be better, especially the bathroom but otherwise the bathroom situation there are many seats to choose from. I like the seats outside when it is sunny, where you can overview the stretch of the Ponsonby street the foodcourt is at be separated from other costumers, like a getaway. But the inside is also quite chill as you have seat and wait for your meal.

First up, I love the roti here. Sometimes roti can be just as bready and thick and crap as a bad naan, but the roti at Kampung is much more pastry-like - brittle and crumbly and yum yum yum. The first time I ever tried a laksa was from Kampung as well, and I can't believe I'm about to rave about food court laksa but I've had laksa since then and nothing has really measured up. Pretty good for a food court! While I can't say this is always my first choice when hitting Ponsonby Food Court up, it is a favourite.
