Grabbed lunch here with my new(ish) bf for a much needed break from fried food. We grabbed 2 sandwiches, a knish, and a side of stuffing, and drove them all up to a look-out point maybe 10 minutes away. We split the Blythe Danner and the Richard Chamberlain - both were basic, straight forward... and delicious! Would order both again. The stuffing was good, but not great. The real star was the knish - potato was thiiick without being heavy, fantastic flavor, great outer crust. Service was great also! Cashier was friendly and super patient while we took forever looking over the menu. Highly recommend!

When in Williamstown and in search of a lunch spot, I go to Pappa Charlie's. They have a large menu of sandwiches, all named after famous people. You can get a hot sandwich or a cold one. There's ones with turkey, roast beef, tuna fish, vegetarian and even beef gyro. Of course there are more proteins than the ones I just shared. Whatever you're in the mood for, you'll likely find it on their menu and if not, you can create your own (this option is called the Politician, haha). My favorite is the Steven Collins. It has turkey, lettuce, tomato, cucumber, sprouts and Russian dressing. It's served on rye but this time I tried the multigrain instead. The ingredients are simple and fresh. They come together to create a great sandwich. The price is right too. My lunch came out to less than $10. I wasn't so fond of the split pea soup but you might like it. Definitely check out Pappa Charlie's! I love their sandwiches.

An adorable little place for sandwich lovers. There's kind of something for everyone. I thought the sandwich names were cute, especially the politician description. The ingredients were fresh and the place is run efficiently. The booths make it feel like a local charm. Small and lively, just as you would expect in this beautiful college town.

Hidden gem. Small little sandwich shops which makes fresh and yummy sandwiches. Sandwiches are unique combinations and some are named After famous people who have visited this place. Had the Neil Patrick harris it was amazing! Also the veggie sandwich was great! Allot of vegetarian and vegan options! Must visit.

Pappa Charlie's has been here over 50 years, serving up the sandwiches to hungry college students. Lots of out of towners come here because it's one of the few options on Main Street, or equivalent street name. Had the Richard Dreyfus (Reuben) and the Dr. Strange Pork. A little heavy on the bread and light on the meat. Fun photos of actors who stopped in during the annual summer theater festival.

I was in town for family weekend and I decided to head to the gym which is close to the sandwitch shop. I think I worked up an appetite at the gym so me and my sister stopped by the shop for a sandwitch. I must say the choices are pretty endless, took me a solid 15minutes to decide on a sandwitch. I loved the vibe of the place, is small but cozy and welcoming, and you get that hustle and bustle of college life with student running in and out getting sandwiches. I ordered the mighty mathias with bacon and wow was that good. Cheesy, bacon chicken goodness and warm. Loved by sandwitch. Told my sister to try them out again.

Jeff Miller -turkey/bacon/Swiss/pickles/lettuce/tomato/whole wheat, mayo instead of mustard n I added roast beef too!

Great sandwiches! BIG and yummy! Jam packed with the best stuff. I ordered a Jeff Miller hot sandwich but instead of mustard I added my favorite condiment mayo and also added roast beef. It has turkey, crispy bacon, melted Swiss, lettuce, tomato, and chopped pickles!! Highly recommend this highly stacked sandwich at :)

Worst experience in Bennington! Do not patron if you enjoy…read moreany level of hospitality & actual value. I came in cheerful & this guy ruined the day... I ended up leaving angry and literally cried.... Their online ordering has a Reuben with an option for $2 extra meat & a note box so I cld have written there asking for the extra portion on the side. EASY. Yet, I went in person to see what the specials were hoping for a great lunch, because Im here for medical procedures at the hospital and had fasted since the day before. Id never been to The Elm Street Market before, but it was close to the hospital, & love Vermont markets for all the years I have lived here. But THIS place :: T E R R I B L E mistake! The employee at the counter was as fake & uncaring as it gets, & shld definitely not be the customer guy. He would not just let the added side be $2 , but wanted to weigh it out & charge me for a deli style $6 sliced side in a package as an addition to the $14 sandwich. ($20 Reuben?!) I said I didn't need or expect a package of sliced cold meat, that I was just adding the side portion to share with my pups. For Lunch. He just becomes patronizing, dense, & fully lacking capacity or willingness to help and says he "can't bc it just doesn't work that way" unless I get it on the sandwich. I cld order it online but not with him at register. And for some reason he cant figure out a $2 portion of meat. Surreal Incompetence. The next level of downhill not-so-fun is seeing the tiny soup. A cup of soup for $8. A latte "special" that I cld not even taste the smoked maple flavor and was only 3/4 full. It's actually shocking- what happened to actually CARING about just helping ppl have a good experience if you are working in the restaurant business as a small local independent market? Hey Elm Street Market Fella, you cld do the simplest things like not try ripping ppl off & being kind! His patronizing attitude & lack of capacity really took it over the top- how am I supposed to enjoy this $36 ordeal? Supposedly he is refunding the meat, bc I explained I didn't order a package of meat. He took it out of bag & literally said "take your sandwich & drink & go". I was upset~ I said this is truly unacceptable ~ try some Kindness & Authenticity! And left. The other young lady who was working that day & witnessed this whole debacle seemed to feel bad making 'Im So Sorry' faces. She at least offered me a dollop of maple syrup & noted the drink was not filled~ but also was being oppressed by his attitude. I cld tell he was being an overbearing tyrant. Wtf - this is NOT Vermont as it should be DUDE. All it took was putting a few slices on the side for $2 & filling up a drink. Ridiculous.

New year, new review…read more Popped in after a morning of skiing New Year's Day and place was packed for lunch! I didn't mind as I was in no rush. As I waited in line I enjoyed conversations with both the people in front and behind me whom all have never been before. The joy and excitement on their faces as they made their way to order was priceless. As for myself, a small mac to help start the new year strong for total lbs sold (81k in 2024) and a small pulled pork. Wanted to order some other things but my refrigerator is full at home, so another time. If this will be your first time, just be aware of parking could be very busy as there's not much. Both ways before pull out of parking spaces as well. Main road can be a cluster at times. I also recommend getting lots of little things rather than a little of a lot. You can always come back for more!

There are 2 lines - deli and sandwiches. Great selection of Vermont-made snacks, drinks, and souvenirs as well. I ordered: - Macaroni and cheese ($4.29 per 1/2 lb) made with Vermont's Cabot cheddar cheese - very creamy, cheesy, and had a perfect texture. - Maple BBQ Pulled Pork ($5.99 per 1/2 lb) - very juicy and moist - Turkey Sandwich - had this the next day and it was still tasty. Not dry at all. All were very flavorful and delicious! Highly recommend visiting ~ I can't wait to be back :)
