Churros with a side of dulce de leche
    April W.

I was excited to return to the original Jefferson location after their recent return to the neighborhood. This time I ordered through Postmates - birria OG box with avocado and a Pollo Asado taco. Order arrived and once again I was disappointed. My box was missing the avocado I paid extra for, and I received a carne asada taco instead of the pollo asado taco I ordered. The carne asada was not good - tough & not much flavor. The birria was good, would've been better with the avocado I ordered. I did receive my consommé this time (see prior review). I contacted Postmates since that's the usual protocol in these situations. Their customer service was not helpful at all, so I reached out directly to the restaurant. They apologized but offered no other solution except to direct me back to Postmates. The whole ordeal left me frustrated & very hesitant to give this restaurant another chance. Ultimately, it was the restaurant that messed up my order, not Postmates. Fun fact #1: my courier messaged me asking what meats I ordered. I told him birria for the box and chicken for the separate taco. The restaurant still didn't get it right. Fun fact #2: in my prior review, they forgot to put my consommé in the bag. Some things never change smh.

I'm back y'all, with another review So boom picture this: I've been wanting to try this place for a minute and was just waiting on the right opportunity to take my talents over there. My aunt and I were headed to a pottery class and what do you know? This spot was right down the street. God is good I ordered the O.G. Burrito with beef birria, a churro with ONLY dulce de leche (because I know myself), and washed it all down with a lime soda. Now let's talk about the burrito. The flavor? THERE. The meat was juicy, seasoned, and tender But baby... the tortilla gave up on me halfway through. Completely folded under pressure I ended up opening it up and eating it like a bowl, so next time I probably won't order that again. Next visit I'm fa sho trying the O.G. Ramen. The churro though? Oh she did her job The restaurant itself gives more takeout vibes, but they do have a few tables out front on the sidewalk and a patio area in the back for extra seating. Just a heads up -- if you're sitting in the back, listen carefully for your name because they are NOT bringing your food to you. Per usual, if you're in the area, stop by and grab a bite! P.S. Parking is a little tricky, so go ahead and pray before you pull up

I'm a big Papi Tacos fan and love how its halal! Best halal Mexican by far now! This location has a big patio out in the back and the food tasted really fresh. I always get the OG plate and the chicken was more flavorful and the brisket was also delicious! I placed my order to go, the person said 5 minutes but got my order 15 minutes later, no big deal though since that's what i expected. I did come here at night and it did look pretty sketchy, and the music was super loud. Other than that, food wise it was great!

A red storefront caught my eye. It turns out to be a Taco joint. No parking. Sidewalk eating stands and picnic tables in the back. Order and pick-up only. Spanish tunes blaring from the front outdoor speaker. I got the famous birria burrito with consommé. It's big and a handful. Expect to get messy and don't wear a white shirt. It'll stain. Is it worth the calories? Absolutely!

I got 3 carne asada tacos from here. The meat is super flavorful, the salsa was really delicious as well. The young man who helped me out was kind. I would definitely come back!

So I wanted to try something local around this area so I saw this place on yelp and gave it a shot. My partner and I got a dish a piece and both were good. I got a large quesadilla with Pollo Asado and Mexican rice. My partner tried the "OG Plate" with carne asada and everything was good. The consome was good as well.

Great food in my lifetime hood. Took them over 4 years to reopen due to a fire that happened next door to the laundry mat that was previously there

I'm outside waiting on my tacos.

Wow this one (female) is working the window.,,,this must be family owned b cuz those working the outside walk-ups are ALWAYS so rude; just no disposition (s) of pleasantry. I didn't hear her tell me the ans when I asked about that chunky green sauce they put on the food & when I repeated my question she said, WHAT! with a fat attitude like I'm from her clique' & we have beef w/ea other....IJS I've worked in food service & that's not how u respond to ANYONE u don't hear. They need an old soul working the front window b cuz these kids are just that kids....hell, they make me not wanna' eat the food & their tacos are Good!!!!!

Ask the Community - Papi Tacos & Churros

I heard they got robbed last week. Are they still open? I want to support them!

    Yes

Do they have online ordering or a portal to the same? Thanks

Yes they "should" have on line ordering BUT it didn't work today when I tried placing my order.

What do they use to color the tacos red? Is it beef flavor?

It's spice (type of chile) - not spicy, it's just flavor. I am from Tampico, in Mexico and this color in our tacos is fairly common.

    Do they only have beef?

    They also have chicken.

I came here for dinner on a week night and my experience here was pretty good. I had the asada and al pastor tacos with all the toppings and they were both so good and full of meat and heat. The toppings can be spicy for some, so be warned. My favorite of the two was the all pastor which was flavorful and I did like the thinly shaved meat. It was not dry at all and was fresh. I also tried the mulita with al pastor meat and that was also soso good. Cheesy, meaty, and indulgent. The additional topping section had good variety with pickled onions, cucumbers, etc. and everything seemed pretty fresh. Unfortunately, they were pretty much out of the roasted pepper and grilled onions at the time I went. To drink, I had the horchata and that was also very delicious. It was huge, sweet, and creamy. I also loved how it was not grainy at all. A good pairing with the rich foods. They also have a good amount of seating at the stand with a long table and multiple chairs. Parking is tricky since its street parking only.

They have real Al Pastor on the trompo (the spit) so of course I ordered pastor tacos and a pastor mulita. I also ordered a few SUADERO tacos which you don't find just anywhere. You can tell that it's house made and I liked the chewy texture of it. However, respectfully the filling felt and tasted like bean goo. I could only really taste the refried bean flavor which was strong. It kind of meshed all the components together into a gooey filling. I got this with asada meat and the meat was kind of chewy and not so flavorful on its own. Props to the tortilla though for not spilling everything out and holding it together well, but still a bit difficult to eat. I would ask for utensils when eating this dish. The green onion garnish was unique. I wish they gave more lime wedges because that helped elevate the dish. For $13 this wasn't too bad, but I'd rather get a better burrito from a street vendor. This is a casual eats type of place with both indoor and outdoor seating and tables. They also serve alcohol and even frozen alcoholic drinks.
