I just had the best vegetarian breakfast of all time. Paper planes cafe is always busy hence the waiting list at the entrance however they're lots of seats around so it was a good sign were in for something special. We were greeted and provided menus. All the food coming out from the kitchen was well presented. Finally I order my vegetarian plate and I see beauty out right before my eyes. Every component had a purpose and even the rocket was dressed with vinegar to dance on my tongue of course. It was much better than the photo posted around 10 months before my visit today. Even then I was keen but now it's blown my mind- never underestimate good food. B-fast plate is $18 add on from bacon, sausage, hash browns are $2. This is now the to go brunch venue. Not sure how they fare during the week but we had a great Saturday brunch and will definitely come back. They have a great menu, perhaps with too many options. I went into full FOMO mode and took me a while to decide between the big breakfast, Monte Cristo, waffles, tiny dancer, etc. Ended up going for the truffled eggs and they didn't disappoint. The plating wasn't as flash as the menu but the food and little marionette coffee are good. read more

One word. Overrated... Sounds cool, looks cool, but leave your expectations at the door as this cafe is all show & no go. It's not as great as its hyped up to be, however the two stars are for effort & service which deserves something in my books as the overall experience should be taken into account. The first disappointment was the teeny tiny coffee cups, I don't normally drink an entire standard cup but this was underwhelming. My French toast did look aesthetically appetising but it was pretty standard, flavours were just not there. My brunch date's salmon Benny was also underwhelming but with the shortage of cool brunch hot spots in the area I guess beggars can't be choosers. read more

This is one of my families fave cafe spots in Parramatta. We come here at least once a week During the weekdays the place is quietly busy - people are always eating here and sometimes it can get really really busy! So we try to avoid coming here during peak times - Saturday and Sunday mornings 9-1pm They don't take reservations and we've had to wait out front for a table to free up a few times. Our order is always the same - The jalapeño popper - juicy steak burger that comes with melty cheese, jalapeños lettuce tomato and a sweet soft bun. Served with fries - sometimes French and sometimes thick cut. The waffles are always on pointThey come with bacon and maple syrup and lots of berries.. and Their coffee is by The Little Marionette - so it's always good. Sadly the coffee here is not that great. If you are looking for a good cup I would go to Circa, or one of the other great cafés in the area. It is extremely weak and under brewed. I gave them the benefit of the doubt but we second coffee was exactly the same. If this review was just about the coffee I would give it 3 stars, but it worth coming here for the food. The food here is good, very simple and homey. This is a really nice place to grab some breakfast. The atmosphere is extremely hipster but it works for them. Also the staff is extremely friendly and helpful. So don't come for the coffee but come for the food. read more

Several warm hellos as I wander in. That's always a good start. OMGoodness the French Toast sounds soooo good, but I'll need to walk from home to justify something that sounds so decadent. I've ordered the Truffled Eggs which comes with mushrooms and tomato. And I've opted for the juice of the day which is watermelon. Everything tastes good & the staff were happy & friendly. Impressive looking menu, and little 'waiting line' to match on a Saturday morning. We were eager to be seated as the smell from the kitchen hit our noses and the dishes were served to the happy looking customers. It was about a 30 min wait before our well presented dishes arrived - smashed avo with poached egg, and the midnight Cuban. The smashed avo was quite light and refreshing (a portion for a mildly hungry person) and the Cuban was monstrous. Can't go wrong with pulled pork, but the mayo and BBQ sauce was a little over bearing. The place seated about 40 odd, with sliding French doors to the open sunny atmosphere. Music thickened the atmosphere without being too loud. Staff were friendly and authentic and whilst we hung around for tea, we never felt rushed. Overall great experience, just choose the dish that suits your taste buds rather than your eyes. read more

I came here for coffee. I had seen it on my ramblings around Parramatta and have had it on my list to visit. It's a great little cafe. Staff was very pleasant, kind and attentive. There is outside and inside seating, a must in Sydney and all its Burroughs. It's the midst of the Corona pandemic but cafes are still open in Sydney and folks are still milling around. The coffee was good and well presented. Sorry I can't speak for the food but the place is busy and lots of folks having breakfast. I don't think it will disappoint no matter what you order. There is also a beautiful display of muffins. If you are in North Parramatta area you need to check it out. read more

It seems the new generation of cafes popping up around Sydney are run by funky youngings. The decor reflects that casual cool look & they're serious about their coffee. This is one of them! Young friendly & accommodating staff. My strong Capp was great. We had the chorizo dish & burger with the lot, both were good. The pulled pork sliders sauce was too sweet & the chicken sliders was lacking on the chicken. We saw others order the breakfast platter & they look big. Ummm... Not sure where the 'service is good' comment has come from but we came on a Sunday morning and will let the experience speak for itself... - 10:45 - arrived at Paper Plane Cafe. We waited inside for about 5 minutes before we had to flag down waitress to find out if we had to wait or could have a seat at the 3 empty tables. We were told we had to write our name on the clipboard out front for the waiting list. - 10:50- 11:25 - waited for our table. 2 random groups with no names on the waiting list came in and sat at tables without the waitress batting an eye while about 5 groups on the list waited. - 11:26 ordered, - 11:31 we got our drink - 11:53 our food arrived. There was nothing special about the food (maybe 3/5 at most), coffee was mediocre and combine this with the poor service we won't be back. And for those who want to argue that 'busy days mean longer wait times', totally understand, in fact we will wait for good places. Here's a tip (one of our favourite places does this and we can wait up to 30minutes there happily); We get there, we're greeted by someone who takes our name and number, seats people and stops random groups walking in and seating themselves. Then they call us when our table is ready. Done, great service and we're happy to wait. This isn't about increased wait times it is about non-existent / poor processes in dealing with queues and the customer is on the receiving end of all of that. Far too many good cafes around here to deal with the poor service and mediocre food. read more

I had the Veggie Platter and my friend had The Big Breakkie both for $19.50. Quite a decent price for the amount we were given, although I must say it's more to the expensive side if you're a student. Both very filling (so filling, my friend couldn't finished her meal). Paper Planes do not offer variation on their dishes so would not be the ideal place for a picky eater. Also, very limited beverages. Last time I ordered a coffee but it wasn't that great. Setting was quite nice, and it's located away from the busy Church street but still in close proximity of public transport. Service was average but I felt it was only so because they weren't as busy as they usually are. Overall, Paper Plane Card is a go if you love the standard hipster Cafe setting and food. read more

I had been waiting to try this place since it opened because I'd heard such lovely things. However, our party of four left with some pretty mixed emotions. While the food and coffee were great, it's difficult to judge a venue purely on the food -- it's generally the entire experience that makes or breaks a place. We arrived and wrote our name on the clipboard, as protocol dictates when one is placed out front. Well, they didn't bother checking the clipboard at all even though there were people vacating tables, so we went inside to let them know. We asked for a high chair. They don't have them! WHAT We took a while ordering because at the bottom of the menu it says something to the effect of no menu variations permitted. Finally, after about 10 minutes we decided and picky me, I just decided to ask anyway...I just wanted the Smashed Avocado with no tomato because nightshade vegetables and cutting down on them...the answer was no. It's not like I asked to change out the tomatoes with something else...all they had to do was not put any in..... There is a serious lack of plates going on at this cafe. The board that the Big Brekkie came on had split in it and was leaking oil onto the table as we ate. The food and coffee tasted great. However, one of our vegetable plate eaters wanted an extra piece of sourdough halfway through her meal because there wasn't enough bread to scoop up all the egg and mushroom on her board, so she asked our server....they don't serve extra because that's a variation on the menu. Wait, what? You can add extra mushrooms, smoked salmon, eggs, whatever because it's on the menu, but because the extra sourdough wasn't on the menu it's counted as a variation on the menu? Exceptionally good cafe, excellent service with friendly staff, free wifi and amazing food. I work remotely a lot and have been twice now to Paper Plane and the place has not disappointed. First visit, I had the chai latte (which appears to be a boutique blend sourced from Melbourne) and the Deep South sandwich. 2nd visit, the pulled pork sliders and an iced coffee. Pulled pork sliders were faultless. Brioche was not greasy as you can often find, and the slaw tasted very fresh, without too much sauce. The Deep South is definitely a KFJ (knife and fork job) a little heavy on the slaw for my taste, and I would have liked a thicker piece of chicken, but did not detract overall from this being a phenomenal sandwich. There are so many things on this menu I am keen to try so will be back frequently! For me, this is my favourite Parramatta cafe, and is a "destination" place to go based on the food alone. It also has a toilet onsite, which is very convenient for remote workers, you don't have to pack up everything if you're staying a while just to go to the bathroom. Had a fantastic breaky at Paper Plane on Saturday morning. Always a good start when you get a park out the front (love Parra parking ;) ), even better when you get seated straight away. Juices are fresh and yummy, breakfast was super delicious. I had honey glazed bacon and eggs on sourdough which was sensational and huge. My friend had French toast which was also apparently amazing. And the best part, great prices - 3 of us for under $40 is just perfect. Good vibe, super friendly staff, definitely could be the new local favourite. read more

No substitutions, yes I understand what that means don't ask for salmon instead of bacon no problem, but it also means don't ask for them to leave the toast off a breakfast its way to difficult to just not put it on the plate. The staff at this cafe are rude and don't listen when you are ordering, the fun really began when the coffee was delivered It took 10 minutes for my long black to arrive after hubby's (seriously it doesn't take that long to make a coffee) I ordered my coffee in a cup and it was delivered in a take away cup, when I said no I asked for a cup her response was I heard you ask for takeaway, why would 1 of ask for takeaway and the other ask for a mug to dine in?? commonsense would say both were dine in. The coffee when it finally arrived was bitter and way to hot (which lead to the bitterness) if you don't have good coffee you don't have anything. We were delivered a bottle of water and 1 of the glasses had a chip in it, I asked for a new glass and Im still waiting...... Don't waste your time going here the food we saw did not look that great and the prices are rather steep for an area so saturated with cafes. read more

Visited Paper Plane at 9am one Sunday recently. Ordered an espresso and iced coffee - no cream or ice ice cream. Went to order off the menu handed to us, 2 toasted sandwiches and was told no, you cant order off the mid week menu (then why give it to us) you have to order from the weekend menu min cost approx. $13.50. Ok don't worry we'll just have the coffees and leave. The bill was $10, $3 for the espresso - that's ok, and $7 for the iced coffee, no cream or ice cream, but they till charged $7!! Rip Off! We visited Paper Plane cafe for brunch. There was a waiting list to be seated, which is not unusual for a Saturday. It certainly didn't deter us - the staff were friendly, the menu looked delicious... and the meals being brought out for other patrons were very well presented and smelled amazing. We ordered the smashed avocado with poached egg and the Midnight Cuban. Both were tasty - the smashed avo was refreshing and good for satisfying a moderate hunger; the Cuban on the other was simply huge, and we found the sauces a bit overbearing. Overall still a good experience, helped by the open and airy atmosphere. Keen to try some other items on the menu... Might just share next time! read more

Second time at Paper Plane Cafe. I must say for a fact that this cafe is not child friendly. Asked for extra toast but got met with, cannot change the menu. Service was a bit average also. Food was good when served, but a more accommodating approach and flexibility in the menu would get a higher rating. Chalk menu on blackboard was misleading also. read more

My husband and i decided on a leisurely brunch at one of our regulars and we ended up walking away with a pair of our raybans stolen from right under our noses! Disgruntled much!? The food itself is nice, despite the inability of being unable to choose our own style of eggs...not everybody likes poached eggs, you know?! The service was friendly and efficient, however, we think the staff may have been a little too efficient this time when clearing our plates as they appear to have "accidentally" taken my husband's raybans with them too - a recent gift I'd purchased for him for our anniversary. We left our name and number and even returned the next day in the hope they'd magically reappeared. Suffice to say we will not be returning to this "sticky fingers" joint anymore and warn others to watch your belongings whilst there as it isn't strangers you need to watch out for nicking your stuff but rather sadly the staff. read more
