(highly recommended!!) home made pasta was delicious as carry the sauce well, i like the pasta texture. rich saffron flavor , cooked just right risotto. veal cutlet was authentic , it meant to be thin cut, n hence a bit drier (not juicy) as chop. cow liver was cooked just right, well treated, intense taste, good to pair with red wine. tiramisu was not disappointed. chocolate had a good cake , over sweet melty chocolate. ** other recommended dish : Anchovies in Neapolitan style, Chianina beef cheek cooked 36 hours with corn porridge, Strozzapreti pasta with porcini mushrooms and duck breast

We started with the mixed salumi and formagio plate which came with prosciutto, truffled mortadella, soppresatta, coppa, two types of cheese and giardiniera along with freshly baked bread. It was more than enough for 4 and very reasonably priced. We split a spaghetti with bottarga while our friends had the seafood risotto. Both were very good. This was accompanied by a nice bottle of Pio Ceasare Barbera. For my secondi I had the traditional osso buco which was very tender and served with a rich Espangole sauce. For dessert we split the zabaglione which was the only item that was outstanding as it seemed to gave been sitting. Service was very attentive and prices are good considering the portions and quality.

The restaurant is on a side street near the busy (with tourists from every corner of the globe) Duomo area. It is easy to find. It has a charming decor (though it is a bit darker and more romantically appointed than other area restaurants, as well as having an underground and almost bordello vibe). It is also larger than it might appear, as there are both ground floor, as well as a lower eating area seemingly for larger groups, as well as used during busier times. We have only eaten on the ground floor level. The menu offers ample variety, but is not what one would term extensive. It tends upscale, though not extremely costly (arguably average to slightly above average fine restaurant prices), but portions are on the smaller side. They have a specialty in dishes augmented and emphasizing the use of truffles, of which we have sampled several times. Over the course of our several meals we've had every pasta and risotto offered with truffle shavings. Of the appetizers we can recommend the meatballs, which are delicate and small, the bacon wrapped shrimp, and the octopus. Their desserts are also not the run of the mill and warrant tastings. All and all, we will always repeat here when in Milan. Frankly, though their Yelp average score is pretty good, we were surprised they do not have a higher Yelp average score.

We didn't want to have the kitchen open back up for us if they were already wrapping up. They assured us the kitchen wouldn't be closed for another 15 minutes so to come on in. We ordered the pizza, and the pizza guy had a meltdown. Apparently he had already started cleaning up for the night. Not a big deal, they let you know there is a time limit, but maybe they should keep the service flowing so that doesn't happen. The interior decorator here did a great job with the time warp back to the mid 20th century. Cool vibe. Food was ok. Perhaps using old recipes from the time period is not so good for a tourist? I wasn't really impressed with the food, but I don't have a cultural link to Milanese food to begin with, so I don't think I was fully able to appreciate it. If my grandmother made this when i was a kid, perhaps it would have been better, but the meal was lost on me. There are plenty of spots to grab a good meal, I'd only recommend this place if you have a fond memory of the menu items or you really want to time travel and post to social media.

Ambiance (3.5/5): This Italian restaurant looks like your grandma's house. Lots of old school decor and it's the exact look they're going for. Homey, just like grandma's house. Seating is a bit tight and there's no A/C so things were a bit stuffy. Service (4.5/5): Our waitress was friendly and was pretty efficient in taking care of us. Service can be a bit of a miss in Europe but our experience at Riseolatte far exceeded the norm. Drinks (4.5/5): Good drink list. I ended up splitting some house wine with my buddy. They have it in different sizes and we went with the largest option of the house red. Food (3/5): I went with the osso bucco which is served with risotto (two of my favorite dishes in one). And part of what also made the dish so attractive is that risotto Milanese is a classic Milanese dish. Unfortunately, the dish didn't live up to the hype. Osso Bucco, done right is so tender that it falls off the bone. It's a slow cook type of meal and you can taste the results of that. Here, the meat was harder than it should have been, which indicates to me that they probably cut some corners. The risotto, on the other hand, was solid. As was the portion size. I was just expecting better with the osso bucco. My friends got the veal (elephant ears). Talk about a portion size. Three huge veal cutlets and fries. You can see why they call them elephant ears! I tried a bite and enjoyed it more than my dish. Overall: There's a lot to like about Risoelatte. Some dishes are a hit and some are a bit of a miss so make sure to choose wisely!
