So the reviews trashing their pizza are a little unfair. It is not a NY Style pizza, it runs though an oven with a conveyer. The toppings were decent, fresh mushrooms and red onions. Pepperoni is the same almost everywhere the sausage is ok, do not expect fresh Italian sausage sliced. It is crumbled sausage but not the crap that pizza hut uses. The pie was a little oily but not bad. I would order this pizza and it fresh and hot. If cold it is not so great. Pizza had a little flop and ok crisp. I could see it getting super floppy if sitting in a box. Eat it fresh out of the oven, I ate it in the parking lot with my wife. It was super cheap and better than Pizza Hut. For the price, maybe it should be a 4, if eaten fresh out of the oven. I would never get delivery from here just because there is no way it will arrive hot and crisp. I think if you are not a pizza snob you will be fine getting it delivered. read more

We love the lamb gyros! The meat is well seasoned, cucumber yogurt sauce is delicious, fresh lettuce and tomato on proper bread. And the size is generous. French fries are good and we often order a Greek salad to share. We like to put in our order and pop over to the Food Lion to shop and then everything is ready. Absolutely disgusting. I realize this is NC and the pizza isn't that good in the first place but this had to be one of the worst pizzas I have ever eaten. The "large" is barely medium sized and tastes like moist cardboard. They hardly use any sauce, probably because it is the most expensive ingredient as I doubt the cheese is real...and they dare call the sausage "Italian." The pizza is okay, not bad for a small town pizza joint. It does hit the spot when I'm craving a pizza. This place does take-out and delivery only, and there is no dining area. Since it's a no frills establishment, prices are affordable. I usually order their small pizza (with one topping) for $5. The pizza size is just enough for one person. I was a little hesitant to order from here because of all the bad reviews, but... my brother had ordered and had it delivered yesterday and said it was pretty good "fast food" and so I thought I would try it, especially because it's rare we get anything delivered because of where we live. I had the Phili Cheesesteak with everything and an order of Hot Wings. The Cheesesteak had lettuce on it which I thought was a little odd, but it was a nice "freshness" and rather good. The Wings, I would have liked them to be fried and have more sauce, instead they bake theirs. Over all, it's decent food for the price you pay. I'll keep this simple: I called to order several items, I asked for a white spinach pizza or whatever it's called, he informed me they were out of spinach. I then said "oh man, now what am I going to get" in a sarcastic tone. I knew I could find something or something could be suggested, because we've ordered so many times before. The last two times I ordered from here were bad experiences. One time they forgot part of my order and wouldn't send the driver back out and said I would have to come by and get my items. The last time my food was bad and had a rancid taste. I ate 2 bites and then called them and they said there was nothing they could do that night because they were closing in a few minutes. Customers are not always right but we pay our money to these places and we should expect the food we pay for and we shouldn't expect to get sick from it. read more

The staff are all great and the variety of food is great. In additional to pizza and subs they have a few other choices. If you like Mediterranean food or just want to give it a try the Gyros are fantastic. I love the lamb gyro they have, it is one of the best in the Triangle. They make their own tzatziki sauce. This place is small and a little old, but it always has the BEST pizza around! I drive 15 minutes from Fuquay and pass many other Pizza and Italian places to go to Papa's Pizza in Angier! I've eaten Papa's food for years....pizza, subs, salads, wings, calzone....never, ever was the food bad (maybe I'm lucky....don't think so)....I think a lot of people order thinking this is a "chain" style shop....it's not really....they're old school...family owned i think and they probably don't like snarky clients....they have. Family & locals working there and it's simple. I hate to see mostly bad reviews, that's why I'm posting....Now, I've ordered Papa Johns, Dominos and frequently have had over cooked pizza, toppings wrong, and near cold pizza....never had that problem with Papa's in Angier....They ARE worth the try. Always make sure that your order is complete. This is the second time we have been disappointed with Papa's Pizza and probably because no one checks the order prior to sending it out on delivery. Over the past 7 years we have ordered food from here many times and I understand that everyone makes mistakes but when calling about a missed entree and the person answering the phone already knows about it and immediately asks if you want a credit or another 30-45 minute wait without even saying we are sorry kinda rubs me wrong when it comes to customer service. Most of the time they are spot on but the attitude this time was a bit disappointing. Their food and prices are good but service is lacking a bit... in my opinion. Having already looked at the reviews, I wasn't expecting greatness, but I was only ordering hot wings. Easy, right? No. They were not deep fried. The were put on a conveyer belt under flame. The result was the skin was only slightly crispy on the outside but the fat underneath the skin was not rendered which made the skin rubbery. Also saw their cleanliness rating was only 90%. Boy would I not ever recommend ordering here. I got one of those flyers in the mail and figured heck why not call and give them a try. Well the guy on the phone, I assume a owner or manager was very quick with me. I'm not looking for someone to roll the red carpet out and be over the top excited that I called. But I do need someone who will allow me to finish my order before they try and hang up on me. So I finished my order in a rushed manner and give him my card number. Hang up the phone and I see a coupon on the flyer they sent in the mail they will work for my order. No joke it was literally 1 minute between the time I hung up the phone and called back. He said I can use the coupon because he already made the pizza!!! Boy that guy must have worked at another sub place that's "freaky fast" because I've never in my life seen someone have the ability to make a pizza in 1 minuet. So I accept the answer again and get off the phone. By the time I hung up it hit me that I'm allowing this guy to dictate what me and my family are eating. So again another minute between calls and I call back to cancel the order. He tells me to never call him again!! I think he believes he is the only pizza place in town! So now I'm waiting on my national chain pizza that will accept his coupon to deliver the order I would have made with him. BEWARE...this place is horrible not so much the food but the management is retarded. My story goes like this...in the turmoil of weekday life of with children I decided that delivered pizza would help keep them passive for the moment so I called Papa's to place my order. After a long hold I was finally greeted I informed the gentleman of my needs and told him that I'd like to pay by card. That was pretty much the whole conversation in its entirety. I hung up the phone expecting a pizza soon. Well after about forty five minutes or so this fella show up at my house and "delivers" my pizza. And thats it thats where my Papa's pizza experience ends or should but no. Unbeknownst to me at the time but the delivery guy fails to receive my payment info. No big deal right? Surely they just called me up to clarify the issue right? NO they called the Harnett County sheriff's department to my home! After a brief talk with the deputy and his assessment of it he decided that this was not worth wasting his time with and informs me I need to pay for my pizza. So after letting all this drama soak in I called up Pappas to fix everything and they can't even figure out how to fix the issue becausecause the day manger had gone home..DA's???...so without even so much as an "I'm sorry for calling the cops on you" I ended my ordeal and still ended not paying for the pizza! The owner really needs to get it together. We were just notified of a bad check that was written under my mother-in-law's account ten years ago. She was never notified of the bad check and then this dump decides to file suit against her for a $20 check and send a sheriff to a disabled women's door. We go to the location and pay the check in person and get some sort of makeshift cash register receipt. They then fail to notify the court house that it has been paid and she now has to show up in court over something that was already paid. We faxed the receipt they provided to the court house but it was not acceptable to the court. We then call the Papa's pizza and the owner acted oblivious to the situation and was completely useless. We now still have to go to court in the morning to clear up a check "that can't be found". So we will have to go to court and pay the check all over again in court and I am very sure it will take all day. read more

We ordered three subs...not complicated - lettuce onions and mayo on one, lettuce onions Italian dressing on one and lettuce and Italian dressing on the third. W got no onions and no mayo. Service is super friendly and food always seems so much fresher than anywhere else. Subs are big and cheaper than subway or jersey mikes. Pizza is so much better than cardboard from other places. We have been ordering from Papa's Pizza for several years,& never had a major complaint with either the food or the service,but after reading the reviews most of which were not very favorable,I felt I had to tell my story, After placing a fairly large order,I asked the total & the wait time & ended the conversation. After about 20 minutes I remembered I had forgotten to order peppers on one of the subs. I called back & was politely told the delivery was on it's way. With in 10 min our food arrived with a side container of peppers,the driver had been called back to get the peppers, now that is customer service! read more

I am a loyal diner, treat me right and I come back, treat me wrong and that's it. After being treated wrong about 5 years ago by this place when they told me they wouldn't honor my coupon for a couple bucks of a very large order of pizza for a birthday party and then being very rude to me and telling me that it was their prerogative to honor coupons they print and mail out or not (at their will), I decided to see if the management had changed and tried them again 5 years later. Tonight I was hung up on by the person taking my order and called back again to speak to management which proceeded to tell me I had not been hung up on and treated me so rudely and hung on me as well- he said rudely "whatever- its been a busy night- just what do you want" What was the problem....well when I first called to place an order, I had nerve enough to want to ask for lettuce on only one side of my sub sandwich (I planned to save one half and eat it later and the lettuce doesn't always save well for later). Apparently I was asking for too much and they said they could only do it if I paid for two different subs. Well I don't mind going to another sub place that will happily make my sub the way I want it and doesn't hang up on me. Guess it's time to write Papa's off for good! read more
