Curry Chicken with White rice and Mac and cheese

Food is always delicious and the customer service is the best! The lady in the front is so nice and helpful especially when you can't decide what to get. I've tried the chicken curry, the Jerk Chicken, and the Jerk Pork. All of it was delicious and full of flavor! I get it with white rice and Macaroni & cheese. Parking can be tricky depending on the time you go because of all the surrounding businesses as well. But they have indoor seating and outdoor seating which is always kept clean. *THEY ARE GONNA CLOSE THE RESTAURANT DOWN BUT THEY DO HAVE A FOOD TRUCK THAT WILL BE OPEN AND AROUND TOWN* This review was from 2/21/26

Best flavorful food in St George UT.

Stopped in here for the Jamaican food, and it was off the charts. Best mac & cheese, and Jamaican chicken ever!

I absolutely love this restaurant and the owner and her family do a really good job of running it and spreading awareness to the community and surrounding communities. I drive up two hours from Las Vegas every month just to enjoy the best Jamaican cuisine this side of the Mississippi River. The ingredients are authentic, and the recipes are straight from Jamaica. This restaurant deserves all five stars because you never expect an authentic Jamaican restaurant to be in Southern Utah, but Papa's got jerk is there and they've changed an entire town giving it a taste of Caribbean culture and a new look in St. George.

We were traveling to Zion National Park and St George was on route, we wanted to try a local restaurant and decided to give this place a try due to glowing reviews. I must admit I was quite disappointed when I took my first bite of the jerk chicken. It was quite bland, lacked flavor and it was NOT spicy at all! We also ordered Cod Fish Fritters and Rasta Pasta. The fritters and pasta were delicious, the only thing we regret was adding jerk chicken to the pasta. Cashier/server was friendly and welcoming.

Oxtail with butter beans and Jamaican rice and cabbage and carrots

10/10 would come back every time I'm in St George. I got the oxtail with butter beans and Jamaican rice. Let me tell you, that oxtail was so so tender, like melt off the bone tender. It came with a side of aux jus, it was so flavorful, I poured that cup all over the GENEROUS amount of oxtail and rice. The owner Cheryl was so sweet. She recommended the cabbage and carrots and pineapple ginger drink to pair with my meal and came by twice to see how my meal was and cleared my table for me. Talk about excellent customer service and a small business owner caring about her customers and reputation. Top notch hospitality

This place is very traditional Jamaican cuisine. The jerk seasoning and the way the chicken is cooked is perfect. I ordered the 6ct wings and Jerk Chicken plate to go. The meat literally fell off the bone. I have been to Jamaica once. This food was exactly as I remember. I picked the rice and peas and fried plantains as my sides. I highly recommend the plantains, as they were excellent. The restaurant is tucked away out of site in The Shoppes at Zion. It worth being patient to find it. The store itself is a small strip mall shop that seats 20. It is decorated with a Jamaican feel and influence. You can buy sauces and items from Jamaica. If you like hot sauce they sell a Bonnet Pepper hot sauce that is common in Jamaica. We really liked it. I was told it would be about 15 minutes because there were a few orders in front of me, but it actually took quite a bit longer, but one to go order was huge so I get it. I would definitely come back for this food. Cheers!

This was the delicious curry chicken that I had and the curry sauce was so flavorful! I enjoyed the moist rice and veggies very much!

We were visiting St. George on our way to Las Vegas. When we arrived, it was well past dinner time. We were very hungry. This location is on a strip mall shopping center also near the Towneplace and Courtyard hotels. I have been to Jamaica and I also enjoy home cooking, the owner is a chef who's from Jamaica, and this food was outstanding, authentic and tasted amazing! The chicken was so tender and I loved the curry chicken, we both loved our dinner. I tried some of his jerk chicken and it was not too spicy. It had lots of flavor and reminded me of my long ago vacation in Jamaica! We highly recommend you try this restaurant, everything tastes fresh. The chicken was very moist and so was the rice. No knife needed, the chicken falls off the bone literally! You get really good size portions at very reasonable price! -friendly service as well. They also have a food truck, you'll have to call to find out where they park their food truck

Now that we've tried it, we'll need to return every time we're near St. George! Everything was indescribably delicious and the owner made us feel right at home, offering suggestions. My favorite were the jerk chicken wings- so tender, meat fell right off the bone and the seasonings were complex. The plantains- wow. Just get them. I also had the cod fritters, which were perfectly crispy. My husband had the jerk chicken plate and enjoyed every bite. So glad St. George has this place!

Quick stop in St. George and saw a Jamaican spot a stop for me to support a fellow Jamaican. The restaurant was in a shopping plaza. Lots of parking. The restaurant is clean and well decorated with lists of fun Jamaican sayings and pictures. Seating available inside and outside. The food was good. I ordered the stew peas with white rice which came with a side. Very big size meal. The stew peas was close to home the pig tail and beef meat was scarce wish I had a couple more pieces. The plantains which was the side was ok. I personally prefer when the plantains is a little more ripe to give the sweet and savory vibe. The jerk chicken was good, not as spicy as the traditional which I get better to add a than subtract. Overall great spot to grab a meal. Loved that they sold spices and Jamaican drinks. Service was great! If your in the area def a place to checkout.

Papa's Got Jerk is nothing short of a flavor explosion! At first you may think it's wild for Southern Utah to have an authentic Jamaican restaurant but once you actually taste the food all you can think is "What took them so long to set up shop here?". I've eaten here close to ten times now and they have NOT missed! Everything on the menu is so tasty and authentic. The oxtail with butter beans is my favorite but the sampler is a close second place. 10/10 I highly recommend! ALSO, the customer service is A1. I drive up from Las Vegas just get eat there then drive back 90 minutes home. It's worth it every time!

The guy at the register was helpful in a genuine way- poor dude is sporting a shoulder injury, but didn't slow him down. I got the Cuban steak plate with the grilled onions, which was amazing! Only complaint is the beans were more liquid than beans, but there are never enough beans for me and they were flavorful. I poured the sauce on my rice and ate every bite. The tres leches is beyond amazing though! It's soaked, but not soggy with cinnamon on top. I got it to go and gave my boyfriend exactly one bite then claimed it all for myself. They also have a pay it forward wall where you can give an amount of money for people experiencing a hard time. While I was there someone came in asking to wash dishes for some food and the register guy made sure he saw the cards and got fed. That is something special for this business to not only not look over those in need, but go out of their way to take care of them. It really says a lot about the kindness of owners and employees.

I didn't expect to see Cuban food in the middle of Utah, yet here we are. Grab a menu from the counter and have a seat or just order. Between the four of us we had: 1. Cuban Pork plate - tender pieces of roasted pork with rice and black beans. 2. The Smothered Burrito - a stuffed burrito covered with cheats sauce. My buddy had this and ate it heartily. The only comment I received from him was that it was very good. 3. Steak sandwiches- Slices of tender sirloin steak, wrapped in deliciousness. 4. I had the double western cheese burger. Two patties, cheese, bacon and an onion ring. It was very good but a little over cooked for me. All in all we enjoyed the location, the service was very helpful and attentive. Find yourself in Kanab, try them out. Michael C. - Georgetown, Tx.
