If the cast of Friends was filmed in Adelaide, they would spend hours in Paparazzi. It's trendy with a hint of classy to it. When I first found this place, I found it hard to leave. They make the best pancakes in town. Think fluffy, thick yet soft cottony pancakes. One bite and it carresses every tastebuds in your mouth. I'm talking pancakes people, stick with me! My favourite has got to be the Banana Pancakes, priced at $13.90. Stacked with sliced bananas soaked in banana syrup, and finished off perfectly with fresh cream, it is orgasmically good. Those who demand a big hearty breakfast should give the Mixed Grill a go. With grilled bacon, chorizo, lamb cutlets, two fried eggs, mushrooms served with wood oven toast, this is a breakfast fit for a king! Although it may be pricey for breakfast ($18.90), if you're planning to skip lunch, go for the grill. I've never tried their lunch menu here, as I seem to frequent this place more for breakfast. Being in affluent Unley, expect to see patrons dressed in polo shirts with twisted sweaters/cardi around their necks, or linen pressed ladies. All in all, it's lovely to sit here with a good cuppa, plate of pancakes and a Vogue in hand, and imagine you're in good company with Joey, Monica, Rachel et al.

How on earth has this restaurant stay in business and so long? Every time I've been there I haven't enjoyed a single meal and have been quite horrified by the prices. Last visit, with nothing in the fridge, I stopped in here with my son after work. You'd think a basic ham and pineapple pizza was difficult to stuff up, but it was covered in so much cheap cheese that, even though I took half off, my son still felt sick after a few slices and he's not a fussy kid. When I asked the staff, I received an indifferent attitude, so we begrudgingly continued. The biscuits and treats in the display were overpriced ($4 for a biscuit) and when I commented to another staff member, they agreed and said customers often complained, but they were priced by management who where never there to hear the complaints. Credit where it's due, the offer a good selection of ice-cream, but I'd only order one to take away. Paparazzi is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

One of the current specials is the Haloumi Salad. Definitely eating a generous rainbow in a bowl.

Mirella and Michael took over this corner establishment at the Malvern shops some 5-6 years ago and turned a dark and dismal place with barely any clientele into a thriving and busy cafe during the mornings and lunchtimes. In recent times, the cafe has received updates via small touches which was very cleverly done. The biggest change was the new "Clean Eating" menu. Paparazzi are the only cafe (as far as I know), along Unley Road and quite possibly in the area that has a traditional cafe menu of the usual favourites AND a clean eating menu that has been put together by a noted nutritionist. For me, this gets a thumbs up because when you're working out hard, you want to be able to know what you're eating. What I love about this cafe, Michael and their staff is this: they provide a warm and family-friendly atmosphere. Since they opened, quality and freshness has been a priority over simple cafe food. Most of all, if you ask nicely, you can have menu items modified. One item from the clean eating menu that I love is the Barramundi. The quinoa salad is fresh with the right balance of zing and sweetness due to the currents in there. If you're not caring for carbs, you can request the roast vegetable salad with the barramundi. One item that is missing from the regular menu is the Caprese salad: one that had a generous amount of baby spinach leaves, bacon, blue cheese, bocconcini, olives and a balsamic glaze dressing. I used to love it with a grilled barramundi. Yesterday for lunch I had the special: Haloumi salad. The salad was of a generous portion with rocket, beetroot, sliced Haloumi, roasted diced pumpkin, cherry tomatoes and a plethora of goodness mixed in. I requested mine with some tuna mixed in for extra protein. The end result was a lunch that was yummy, light, yet filling. I've asked nicely for this salad to be added to their menu permanently. Another favourite is the oven roasted chicken breast. My mother says it's the bees' knees of chicken breaths. Every year when she visits from interstate, I have to take her to Paparazzi to have this dish. Also try the fresh tomato bruschetta ... I have mine with a bit of tuna tossed through. Yum. Not 5-star because of the missing Caprese salad and sometimes the noise level can get insane.

Needless to say it has haunted my dreams since, so today after a hard workout my husband and I biked over for lunch. The first thing that strikes you while approaching from Kitchener Street is the lush, inviting covered wrap around porch; there is plentiful and adequately spaced tables located here (so as not to be forced to overhear unwanted convos). Next, upon entering this clean and tidy cottage you will notice three separate distinct seating areas: the main dining area, a smaller dining area tucked away by the kitchen and pastry counter, and a delightful and welcoming covered deck. We were promptly greeted by one of the friendly staff and seated straight away. Tap water, glasses, and menus were waiting at the table and after an appropriate amount of time our order was taken and special requests confirmed. This place is really busy but it seems well managed; the staff is very attentive without being intrusive. As we waited for our order we noticed the bustling and efficient staff who worked like a well oiled machine - dirty dishes were quickly removed from tables, additional carafes of tap water were dropped off without being asked for, and patrons seemed relaxed, very happy, and satisfied. By meals' end we, too, were among those happy people. My husband ordered a sandwich that I struggle to recall the name ;( it was a hearty sandwich made from perfectly toasted sourdough, grilled chicken breast meat, swiss cheese, garlic aioli, a mix of tender and flavourful greens, and crispy bacon. I ordered the smashed avocado with feta on the same delightfully prepared sourdough. It, too, came with a generous portion of greens. We could not be happier with our newfound neighbourhood brekkie place. AND there is a coffee loyalty card to boot!

You couldn't add Kale even though one dish had it and the outdoor area had a strong bad smell. Still the coffee was great and the juice and food was good. So you can imagine the trepidation when I walked into Waffle's Waffle and it smelt of sugar, caramel and all that warming good stuff. But I am happy to report back I finished my half belgium waffle here with ice cream and strawberries minus the cray cray aftermath and sugar overload. It was so refreshing to have a dessert that wasn't smothered in cream, chocolate sauce and syrup but was instead light, fluffy and fresh. For $8 I received a generous serving of vanilla ice cream and fresh, juicy strawberries with enough chocolate sauce to ensure the waffle wasn't too dry or bland. The half serving was perfect for a morning tea sized snack. I'm really disappointed this place doesn't open later for weeknight desserts and that is the only reason for a loss of star. But it is definitely worth trying on a weekend or early Friday night after dinner at Cos or drinks at Udaberri across the road.

I go to Cibo Espresso at Hyde Park so often I almost think I should have a permanent table there…read more It is simply my number one meeting place. Coffee wise the quality goes up and down but I'm sure this is all down to the range of the different baristas on duty. After all a coffee has more to do with the barista than the bean just like a meal depends on the skill of the chef who is preparing it. For me it's a skinny capp or a long black with a jug of milk on the side. Over the years, I have had business meetings, family gatherings and even dates at Cibo but mostly I go there on my own to get my fix for the day. What did we all do with ourselves before the coffee craze became so big? There must have been a lot of people wandering around aimlessly because these days we just all hang out in coffee shops and cafes. Food wise, they do a mean grilled chicken foccacia and their tuna sandwiches are a good light meal option. When I'm being super good, I'll opt for one of their tuna salads - not cheap but low in cals which is good. I try to stay clear of their deserts but have to admit there's some tempting morsels in their display cupboards. I do however like their gelati - the lemon is a winner! One criticism for the guys at Hyde Park though - what is it with those new tables inside!!! They've been placed so close together that if there's just one or two people at them, you end up sitting within an uncomfortable listening distance of the person next to you OR two people will sit at one of those tables and spread out so they take up four seats. I don't criticise you guys much but these tables are just silly - spread out and use your space. Other than that - I love ya work!

I like Cibo, but I can't give it a four or even five star rating. Look, I know that Cibo is a South…read moreAustralian "thing", but I just don't see why people go so crazy for it. Let me break down my reasoning. Coffee: Like another reviewer said, the quality changes depending on who is making it. Sometimes it's great, sometimes it's far below what I can make at home on my humble Breville machine. I also get frustrated with how looooong it takes to get my coffee and with the lack of flexibility in the menu. For instance, my favourite summer drink is an iced soy latte, which is exactly what it sounds like: a soy latte with ice in it. Without fail, every time I try to order this from Cibo, I end up fighting with the barista about the fact I do not want an iced coffee (with ice cream, etc in it) and about 40% of the time, the barista will not make my drink. So I just go home and make it myself. Food: I am highly suspicious of food that sits around in a glass case all day. I am really not a fan of Cibo's pre-made sandwiches, flatbreads, etc, but I do like their gelati. That stuff is great! Seating/logistics: Again, like someone else mentioned, the seating inside the cafe is poorly planned, and there is simply not enough of it. I can't remember the last time I got a table at Cibo; I generally grab my coffee and take it home. Overall, I still like Cibo and will go there happily for anything that's not an iced coffee (I'm partial to their chai lattes), but I definitely wouldn't rate them as my number one coffee shop, and probably wouldn't frequent them as often as I do if they weren't so close to my place.

When every staff member who serves you looks like they've stepped out of a Gucci catalogue it's hard not to gush, but the table service was impeccable, quick and not too intrusive, even though we were sitting up in the balcony area. My friend and I arrived at 5:30pm to a surprise welcome that it was Aperitivo Hour until 7:30pm every Thursday, Friday and Saturday and our drinks would come with a plate of nibbles. Normally that means, a piece of cheese and an arancini ball but my delightful Sangiovese was delivered with a platter full of salami, proscuitto, bread, cheese, olives and bite sized zucchini frittata which was delicious. We topped that off with a huge platter of charcuterie for 2 (could have served 3) for $18 and a coffee and I was ready to pitch a tent and spend the night up on the cosy balcony in time for a la moka coffee and a brioche for brekky in the morning. Sadly they kicked me out but I will return for Aperitivo Hour and a morning coffee or two many times again.
