We hosted my aunts retirement party here! Everything from food, to communication, to hospitality was 10/10. Would highly recommend Papa Urb's! It's a family business that takes pride in all they do! Thank you again for allowing us to host a private event!
This is for a to go order. It was tasty, I personally did not know what side sauces were available so I didn't request any.
Came here after jury duty and wanted some sisig and frys. The fries were a little on the dry side and soggy but mix up in the sauce was better maybe extra sauce next time and some other plate. It can get busy during lunch time so place your orders. Nice little spot but beware of mentally challenging people around the area keep your head on a swivel.
Came here as suggested by a good friend of mine. She raves about this place and mentions it every time we're in the 209 area. Finally was able to make my way there today and it's no wonder she's always talking about how smackin the food is. We tried the Sisig fries, Sisig tacos & pork belly sandwich. The food was so bomb and came out pretty fast! There's ample seating, it's a pretty big place. Will definitely be returning anytime I'm out that way!
Simple menu. Affordable prices. Friendly service. Even got to meet the owner and he's super chill. He caters a lot for the community. He also has another restaurant in Tracy. Lots of dishes to choose from. Big portions too. They post rice plate prices but you can get them a La carte if you want to eat family style. We ordered so many dishes because Filipino dishes are not easy to make at home for yourself all at one time. So we each got what we wanted and shared: Pancit - cooked with 2 kinds of noodles and has bokchoy leaves. Tocino - my daughter's favorite. Sweet but not too sweet. Great flavor! I can see why she likes this dish. Sisig - has a little spice. Wish it was crispy. Lechon Kawali - loved this! Cut into small bite sized pieces and drizzled with Lechon sauce. Family favorite! Kaldereta - Big chunks of beef. I didn't get a chance to try it. My hubby ate most of it. Dinuguan - Good. Lots of meat. I wanted it to be more sour, like how my province makes it. The only thing I wish was that I ordered more veggies. However, I realize that if we had ordered these dishes as rice plates, they came with salad. Next time! Also wish that if you're eating at the restaurant that they would use real utensils and plates. Everything was served in to-go styrofoam containers.
I haven't been to papa urbs since 2019 and I'm so happy they're still open. The food is absolute amazing! Everything cooked with so much flavor and care. Not sure if it's family owned but the staff seemed like a family and made it feel like you are eating at home. The restaurant is nice and spacious and vibrant. I'll never not stop at Papa Urbs when driving through Stockton.
The food was really good and the service was great. Wasn't busy when we came by and the inside is very nice. Not pictured, but the pork adobo was very good too! Really liked this Filipino spot, come check it out. The cascaron was so good too, reminded me of childhood lol.
Really enjoyed the Lechon Kawali! Nice and crispy that pairs well with the sweet sauce that they give. Have yet to try their other popular options such as sigsig fries so I will be back.

My friend and I veraciously inhaled that dish in a few minutes- a must try. Given Stockton is a very hot area, the Calamansi Juice was a good choice (and for just $2.75 too!). The perfect refreshing drink for a hot day. There are tons of open seating. The staff is very welcoming, I'm super excited to go back!
Their service is 10/10. I had questioned a menu item that was listed on paper but not on the website the qr code provides. They were happy to let me know it was available and while my friend and I were in the back of the line they came and took our order and got started on it. They didn't take notes of it and still everything came out just as we ordered, we were very impressed. We ordered bistek, pork adobo and kaldereta along with lumpia and sisig empanadas. There wasn't one thing we didn't like. Haven't been to this location since 2019 and happy to see they survived covid, the ambiance hasn't changed and they're still delivering great food and service!
I come here for sisig fries...so so good!! I know I would love the other selections are just as good because I have tried them at the Tracy location. Parking here seems hard due to it being on a busy street. I got lucky to find a spot right in front. The inside is very big and spacious but made to few seats to eat because of the pandemic social distancing. The guy I ordered with was very friendly and we had a conversation about the Stockton food week since I came in for that deal. Definitely like it when an employee interacts with a customer. He even opened the door for me when I left and checked if all the other customers were ok at their tables. I asked for not spicy so if you like spicy and will share with someone they have spicy sauce to go on the side. Will definitely come back when I'm in Stockton

Just a quick update.... This place still serves the best chicken adobo in town! The Tapa (Pan fried beef & onions. (marinated in garlic, soy & calamansi) Served with fried egg & salad.) we tried it for first time today and it is AMAZING! Service is still impeccable. Love the decor it makes the ambiance inside! Only thing you can say that is even remotely negative about this place is the parking is terrible read more

Papa Urb's continues to level up with new menu additions such as their new sando, along with some old time favorites like the sisig fries. Alex the owner goes above and beyond, even helping me figure out where best to park! Reliably good food, close to the courthouse, schools, county building and movie theater. Inside, pictures of filipino history anchor the restaurant to its filipino roots. When you are in the downtown Stockton area, make sure to check them out! read more

This dinigian is very dry, not much sauce/ pork blood included... not much flavor either, definitely needs more vinegar. Probably wouldn't recommend. read more

I don't understand the rave reviews here because the sisig wasn't even good. It was just fried pieces with soy sauce. This isn't real sisig. The portion was extremely small too. Waste of time and waste of money. read more

Sinigang tastes spoiled and the sisig is just fried pork with sauce. The place is empty but we were curious because of other people's review, so we gave it a try. Wrong decision. I can only say that the place is clean but their food doesn't taste like filipino food Sinigang is not even sour, we were so confused. read more

Overhyped and overpriced! The portions are very small for the amount that you get. We ordered the lumpia shanghai, adobo quesadilla, sisig fries, and the bbq pork belly rice plate along with a calamansi and a mango juice. The total came out to be $43. Lumpia shanghai: very good, you cannot mess this up! I'd recommend it but it was $6-7, which is pretty pricey for the amount of meat you get. You can get more lumpia shanghai for the same price elsewhere Adobo quesadilla: they use cheddar cheese in their quesadillas. Overall it was good but it just tasted like a chicken quesadilla, there was no adobo flavor coming from the chicken. Also $6-7 so it was expensive for a tiny quesadilla! Sisig fries: I was super excited about this because of all the positive reviews but I was disappointed. The meat was overdone and there wasn't any flavor in it. The fries were also very stale. Overall bland Bbq pork belly rice plate: the meat was overdone here too, very hard and cold. The egg was also cold and it could have been crispier, but it had a runny yolk so that was alright. Out of everything we ordered I would NOT get this one again Calamansi and mango juice: IF YOU GO HERE GET THESE JUICES. The calamansi juice tastes so fresh and the mango juice tastes like you're eating an actual asian mango but in juice form! Definitely loved the juices the most out of everything we ordered. Overall, I would not come here again. I think the concept of a filipino fusion place is great, but the execution was poor. Great service though! read more

Ordered the sisig fries and calamansi drink and both were delicious. The inside decor is a little underwhelming but still a great spot to eat for lunch in downtown Stockton. If I'm in the area again, would love to try more on the menu! read more
My order: Papa's Noodles and Sisig Fries ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Visited a cute Filipino restaurant The noodles are a creamy carb paste pasta with tocino (sweat bacon), longanisa (Filipino sweet sausage) and eggrolls. It was a rich dish, but the sweetness from the meats really balanced it out and I love the added crunch from the eggrolls! The sausage was my favorite part-I can eat it almost every day! The Sisig Fries is one of their popular sides and topped with yam chips that gave it a great crunch and sweetness! read more

Papa Urb's is the place for Tapa and Sisig Fries. You can expect a good portion of tasty, tender meats. I don't just go for one order. I go to share the dish with family and friends. Reasonable price. A couple of things I noticed is if you are a "sauce person, " one who likes to dip their food so much you have to dish out a few cents to get more of Papa Urb's special sauce. And the parking is bad. Like me, if I'm Downtown Stockton and have cravings for the Tapa and Sisig Fries then parking is not an obstacle. I will park and will not mind the walk. read more

Disappointed that you could only order Pancit in a $10.99 plate no option as side so I would have to purchase a big plate of it for just one person. No option to add pancit to any combo plate. I got the adobo plate with two scoops of rice and asked if I can sub one scoop of rice for pancit they said no. If you get the adobo, ask for sauce to be on the side it was very overpowering and salty and the rice soggy. read more
Two words: SISIG FRIES!!! I'm OBSESSED! Not gonna lie... I've literally only had their sisig fries, but they are SO delicious that I don't really need to even try anything else. My first time trying them was maybe about 5 or 6 years ago at their location in Tracy. It was love at first bite, bay-beh. LOOOVE... at first bite. I'm rarely ever in the area anymore, so I don't get to indulge as often as I used to. I was in Stockton and knew that I had to stop by to fulfill my cravings. This was my first time ever going to the Stockton location, and the fries are just as delicious as the location in Tracy. This location is much more spacious but you're limited to street parking only. I was warmly greeted when I walked in. Papa Urb's specializes in Filipino fusion dishes, so don't expect authentic style Filipino food to be served here. Not to say that the food isn't authentic, but they don't serve all of the usual suspects. As they like to say, it's "Filipino food with a twist". Okay, so let me get back to gushing about those damn sisig fries. They're just so incredibly delicious. It's a HUGE pile of crispy French fries topped with sliced yams, tender fried sisig, and their special urb sauce. I like to add sriracha sauce to it too. Sounds so simple but it's a like an explosion of Heaven in my mouth any and every time that I have it. Not sure what they're puttin' in that urb sauce, but whatever they're puttin' in there is so addictive. These fries are a whole meal all on their own. An ENTIRE meal. No need to get anything else unless you're sharing amongst others. Half the time, I can't even finish the damn thing. Ugh. And now... I'm having cravings. Those sisig fries get 5 stars all by themselves, but I should also send a little shoutout to the hardworking staff back there. Super friendly and welcoming! The environment is so very casual. I love what they've done with their menu and a praise the creativity. One day I'll venture out and actually try some of those other creative items. But for now, I'm sticking to my fave. 3 months late review but that's what happens when you forgot out the photos you take on your phone... Nice little place near the San Joaquin County Courthouse. Decided to try this place because it was near my work. Really busy during lunch time. I had to wait about 45 minutes for my sisig fries I've come back to this place 1 time after and it was about the same wait too. Their website was down a bit and didn't help if I wanted to order ahead of time. Their landline also wasn't working a couple other times and I decided not to get food during those times. This is a spot where you want to spend your time there. Not good for people on a limited lunch hour. Be aware of parking though. Some on street parking nearby but you'd probably have to park at a parking garage if you don't want to hassle looking for street parking. read more
Good food, not authentic Filipino food though... 3.5 Stars. Came here for quick dinner prior to attending a show at the Bob Hope Theater. Saw a Papa Urb's in the city of Tracy but didn't have time to dine... been wanting to try ever since. This time we finally did here in Stockton and I was excited to finally check it out. The place was full of patrons... probably all going to the same show we were attending. It's a counter service eatery so we queued up at the register to place our order. The menu had a variety of classic and favorite Filipino food and since I love menudo that's what I got. Hubby chose the lechon kawali dinner. After we placed our orders we looked for an open table. The dining area was a good size for a Filipino eatery, very spacious and was kept clean. Our food was served to our table by our nice cashier. They use compostable eco friendly container trays. The meal came with two scoops of rice, egg, and my menudo. It also came with salad. I guess this is what they meant from their sign "Filipino food with a twist" ... first, it was weird to have salad included with the meal (it's not Hawaiian macaroni salad, it's green salad), second, my menudo was not prepared like what I'm used to. All the pieces were chopped too small and had ingredients added that I wasn't used to seeing... almost looked like afritada with all the peas and red bell peppers. Food was okay, imo, could use more flavor. It was almost tasteless. Anyway, I'm looking forward to trying other dinner entrées next time. My husband enjoyed his lechon kawali... First time experience was pleasant, I just didn't feel that wow factor on my menudo. This eatery is located in downtown Stockton just a block from the Bob Hope Theater (2 min walk). Love love love coming here. The Sisig fries are a must. You gotta get the extra sauce on the side! They have an amazing burger called the Urb Burger that I highly recommend as well, or even the pork belly sandwich. Nothing but good food here. Came upon this place by accident. We had never been to Stockton before. It was in the middle of the afternoon when we arrived. Too late for lunch, too early for dinner. We just wanted something light to take the edge off. Although raised Filipino on traditional food, I recently became mostly vegetarian for health reasons. I do periodically eat seafood on occasion, but try to limit that. Needless to say, I was leery of how much animal products would be served here. Much to my surprise I was told that many of their menu items could be made into vegetarian dishes. So we ordered the vegetarian lumpia and vegetarian quesadillas. I didn't think quesadillas were Filipino, but what the heck. Perhaps this is one of those "fusion" kind of places. Needless to say, the food was quite good! Oh, I also had a mango purée juice. It was good, a bit on the overly sweet side, but not gross. I hope this place succeeds. Looking around, it seems to be a hit with the younger people. read more

This doesnt look like sisig at all. Even the taste. It taste just like an ordinary grilled meat. Some pieces are too charred and its bitter. Not enough onions, chilis, and calamansi. This was my fav food at papa urbs. I guess they hired a new cook but i was really disappointed with the food they make today. Money not worth it. Lechon kawali doesnt have any saltiness. Just plain fried pork belly with no seasonings. If it wasnt for the sauce it came with, it would be flavorless Even the dinuguan is tasteless, dang! Im really disappointed! But i admit it their calamansi juice is really good. read more
