I've always been a big Kona ice and just shaved Ice fan in general so I can say with some certainty that this was exceptional and well worth the price. We ended up sharing a small which was still easily large enough to share (we had 50/50 cherry and grape with a sour spray on top). The customer service was beyond friendly and I loved the cute turtle on the side of the truck. Everyone should check them out and I for one will definitely be coming back to try a different combination of their huge assortment of flavors and maybe even some ice cream on the bottom (because you can just do that here)!

Ohana Hawaiian Ice caught my attention though with their menu options of adding ice cream and/or sweetened condensed milk aka a snow cap. I had never heard of putting either of these things together with shave ice before and decided to go for it. I got some of their natural, homemade flavors with a snow cap and holy crap, it made my shave ice 100% better. I like shave ice, but it was always a take it or leave it kinda thing, not my favorite summer treat. Now I keep hoping to see the ohana truck again when I hit up other food truck events (I really want to try it with vanilla ice cream on the bottom)... no luck so far! If you see it, try it out.

They also opened it up to immediate family so a lot of us brought our kiddos. The setup is so simple! Get a cup of shaved ice and add a syrup to it - serve yourself style. you can mix as many of the flavors as you like and add as little or as much as you want, too. Good & unique selection of flavors - from cotton candy, pina colada, tigers blood, blue raspberry, etc. They also had a sugar free (& vegan) option available, too! Fun idea!

The first time around I ordered a chocolate-covered (giant) frozen banana with a sprinkles-crunchies combo reminiscent of a crunch cone from Dairy Queen. It was the perfect pizazz-y add-on to this "healthier" choice. As for the second time, I ordered a dirt worm sundae, which I haven't seen on a menu order since I was 10. I loved that combo of vanilla soft-serve, chunks of Oreo, hot fudge, and gummy worms. The only change I'd make would be a smaller portion of ice cream to even out the proportions.
