I was greeted warmly and seated at a quiet table. Lola, who was expertly managing eight tables at once, took great care of me. I ordered the 14" Famous Four with extra cheese and an iced tea. The pizza was outstanding. The crust had that ideal balance of light crunch and satisfying chew--somewhere between thin crust and traditional hand‑tossed--and was baked perfectly. The sauce was tangy and flavorful without overpowering the toppings. The onions, green peppers, and mushrooms were fresh and bright. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that our pizza was just slightly overcooked. The bottom was charred all the way around; wasn't burnt to the point of sending it back, but definitely left in the oven a minute or two longer than it needed to be. It wasn't busy when we visited, and it seemed like the employee rotating pizzas was a little more focused on chatting with FOH coworkers than keeping an eye on the oven. I've worked in pizza restaurants for nearly a decade, so I may be a bit more particular than most customers. It was obvious she was taking her frustrations out on customers and turned 6 customers away with just her tone. She could have won everyone over and created a pleasant experience for all. I hope that she is an exception. But the service was lousy the other 2 times we ate there. In fact a table next to us just got up and walked out without paying.
