This is my second time trying this nice, cool pizza made to cook at home and both times I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by how friendly the staffs are and the truly delicious pizzas with fresh and abundant ingredients not expected for their price. Since you cook at home, the discount is obvious but eating pizza hot off the press in your own kitchen is much more convenient and better tasting than half warmed, delivered pizzas that we are used to. Nearly 20 years ago, my wife (then girlfriend) and I absolutely fell in love with Crescent City, CA. Like people from all over the world who visit the Redwood forests of far-northern California, there is a kind of magic that washes over you when you stand there amidst the 2000+ year old trees, the ferns, the flowering wild rhododendrons, the otters and steelhead in the rivers, the black bears in the the blackberry briars along the side of the road... there are a million things to see and do in the greater area. And occasionally, you get hungry with all that nature and exploring and such. The commercial part of Crescent City is little more than a couple of streets through the center of town.. and make no mistake, they have a quite a few big box stores and chains you're recognize if you're from anything resembling a city. But there are also a few little local places that seem to have eluded my previous experience. Like Papa Murphy's. All right, how was I supposed to know there were 1300 locations in the Pacific Northwest and Canada? Furthermore, how was I supposed to know-- based on the pictures on the wall, and my privileged existence in SoCal what a "Take and Bake" pizza place was? I mean, where I came from... they actually COOK the pizza for you, and you take it home in a box, and eat some of it in the car on the way home. All giggles aside, when we were a couple of 20 somethings years ago, we apparently missed that part. So we ordered up a pizza with all the fixings, and sort of stood there, dumbfounded, when they handed it to us raw. We exchanged pleasantries with the kid behind the counter, who was clearly proud of his work... including some casual conversation that included, "Umm, we're like, CAMPING... and we don't have an OVEN... so, like, um... OK, we'll figure it out!" And off we went to Mill Creek or Jed Smith (I honestly don't remember which one on that trip) with our raw pizza, devising ways we could cook the darn thing. With a nice campfire bed of coals, a well-placed firepit grill, and a makeshift oven reflector that half-burned the cardboard frame from which it was constructed, and wiped out a 75 ft. roll of aluminum foil to wrap and insulate the cardboard, we baked that awesome pizza to a melty-topping golden brown. No pizza cutter or bread board, so we just lay out a clean towel on the picnic table in the perpetually drippy/foggy redwood forest of Endor, and cut that baby up with a fillet knife into strips and slices. In a word, "DELICIOUS." And maybe it's because we worked so hard making the thing, or maybe it's because we felt like doofuses for ordering a pizza that required us to cook it... but it was maybe one of the best pizzas we ever enjoyed. Lord knows I won't order another "take and bake" pizza while camping up there again. I suppose I could buy some kind of mini fire-pit oven or something, but what fun would that be? Instead, I'm happy to leave it as a funny story to share with our kids when we visit the rugged Northern California coastline, where the world's tallest trees create a canopy and backdrop to my kids hearing my tallest tales. read more

The pizzas here are alright quality has definitely gone down over the years on top of that the management is severely lacking seems like just a bunch of young people just hanging out have no direction what so ever we came by and tried picking up our pizzas after being told it would be an hour and a half only to be told it would be an additional 15 minutes when we arrived it was really sad watching the manager Steven just mess around and not have a handle on his crew they were just talking and joking around while 8 of us were just patiently waiting to get our orders also some of the staff had long hair and should have definitely been wearing hair nets it's ridiculous to watch people like that not take any pride in their work this place for sure needs a better manager read more

I ordered via phone, they told me it would be 25-30 min. I waited 25 minutes, and then started to drive there. The drive took about 10 minutes. I waited another 20 minutes while inside the store. The store appears dirty sometimes. I ordered online at 1pm for 4pm pickup. When I arrived, they were just finishing the order. This isn't the first time. Because Tuesday are the inexpensive day of the week, they are busier than normal. This review is for my visit on July 17, 2014. While visiting relatives in Crescent City, CA, we decided one afternoon to order pizza from papa murphys. Since I'm accustomed to the Papa Murphys back home in Fresno, I thought that maybe this papa murphys would be the same service wise. The pizza from papa murphys are I think some of the best. I love the Chicago. We called in to preorder our pizza. While on the phone, we asked to see if they will honor coupons online. The employee wasn't sure which coupon we were referring to so she asked us to bring it in. The pizza's here was about $3 more than those in Fresno. As we walked in, they had already made our pizzas for us. They only hick up that we has was that we were told that they would not honor the coupons that we pulled off of the Papa Murphy (corporate) website. The parlor itself was clean. This parlor was located in the same shopping area as a grocery store so there's plenty of parking. read more

This Papa Murphy's is worth it if you order a generic pizza from one of the recipes listed on their website but if you order a customized pizza, like we have to do, due to dietary restrictions, you are out of luck. Their ingredients have always tasted good but the staff who make the pizzas there are hopeless. We placed an online order a few weeks ago, only for my husband to arrive for it not to be ready and then when it was finally done, it was made incorrectly. He brought it up to the employee who made the pizza, explaining that the customizations were due to dietary restrictions, and she was very rude, muttering to her coworker, "I don't have time for this." Her coworker offered to try to fix it, and did his best with an already botched order. The pizza tasted good despite him having to completely replace the top of the pizza, but our half and half customizations were just thrown in there by his coworker who made it first. I was emailed asking for my feedback and gave an honest review, saying that I would be happy to be contacted directly if they want to make some improvements. I was never contacted. I hoped maybe they dealt with that employee and tonight we decided to try again and see if they could handle a slightly simpler order. We ordered all one sauce and only customized the toppings inside the stuffed crust pizza. Unfortunately, after baking, we cut into the pizza to find they'd put toppings in we hadn't asked for, while omitting ones we did request. We didn't have too many toppings on the side they botched... only one type of meat and 3 veggies. Not that tricky. I've worked in food prep and other retail customer service and there's just not an excuse for consistently failing to satisfy orders to a customer's specifications. When you do it right, you gain loyal customers who will spend their money at your establishment... and it's worth the effort. But the employees at this Papa Murphy's must just not care enough to try to do it right, and they must also not have management who cares enough to enforce some basic standards either. Ah well. You HAVE to call in your pizza, even if it's 4 minutes before you walk through the door. If you don't, you will wait for a loooong time. Prices are reasonable for the pizza and quality that you receive. Cookie dough is amazing raw but the cookies themselves (obviously once cooked) are not good. =( The salad is a really great deal. It has fresh and quality ingrediants and is less than $5. Plus it was enough salad for 2 children (under 4) and 3 adults. The large is actually a medium and the family size is actually a large, which is retarded because who the heck knows that when you clal to order a large pizza?! They don't inform you that's for sure. I like that this is close to Safeway so while I wait for my pizza I can run to the store and grab soda or beer, or whatever. I would and likely will, get pizza from here again. read more

I worked here for a couple of years back in the HS days. I absolutely love their pizza! I am fond of the garlic sauce which is a ranchy, garlicky concoction of goodness! The ingredients are fresh. The pizza dough is made fresh daily. The sauce used to be made fresh, but was then later sent to each store from some distant warehouse where some other worked made it and then packaged it for us. I used to hate the fact that we catered to people on foodstamps. It made for... well, interesting clientele. Sometimes, I have nightmares I still work here. That's right. Nightmares. read more

Consistently good pizza! I've been to many Papa Murphy's locations all over California, and this one is by far my favorite. I grew up in Crescent City and my family ate here ~1 time/month, so we got to know the pizza. Mmm...and the cookie dough....always a winner! Service was completely slow and we were the only customers in there. It took them over 20 min to PREPARE a pizza that I could take home and spend another 30 to cook. I don't know If the cashier was new but she charged my husband's C.Card 3 TIMES!!!!! 3 FKNG TIMES!!! Then 2 more workers came from the back and were trying to figure out why she charged an order 3 darn times. It was the blind leading the blind! Service was HORRRRRIBBBLE! I would have been better of going to Little Ceaser"s or Pizza Hut for that price. I would not recommend this establishment to anyone in their right mind.
