The Diavola had a nice kick and felt a little adventurous in a good way. The Pepperoni was solid and reliable, exactly what you expect. Now the calzone... not for me. I was expecting a classic cheese-forward situation, but this was more of a chaotic mash-up of ingredients that didn't quite come together. Felt like a pizza identity crisis folded in half. The crust is worth noting, it has that cornmeal-style texture. If you like a slightly gritty, rustic bite, you'll be into it. Overall, good flavor, just know what you're ordering. Next time, I'm sticking to the pizzas and leaving the calzone in the box.

Great little Italian restaurant. This restaurant has been…read moreeverything from a Chinese restaurant to a variety of sandwich shops over the years. It's literally across from Boulevard tires on Woodland Blvd. I was glad to see the spot being used again. I had some trouble tracking down their number and website due to so many pizza places in the area called Anthony's pizza but I persevered and I'm glad I did. I ordered three large Strombolis, one meat lovers, one cheese and one vegetarian. Their website offers the option to order everything online which was a great. In five minutes I'd ordered my food and received an email confirmation with an estimated time that my dinner would be ready. I walked in and my food was waiting. The staff was very pleasant and efficient. I thought for a Friday night they were pretty slow but this particular location isn't exactly close to main Deland thoroughfares. I'm betting word of mouth will help their business name recognition. The ladies working the register told me they'd only been open at this location for two months. Downtown Deland is a mile north and your other restaurants are located a mile or so south so unless you drive by your probably just not going to visit this area of Deland. The food was really tasty! I also liked the fact that there was plenty of sauce to dip the strombolis in. The strombolis themselves were packed with ingredients and the dough it was wrapped in was great too! I'm looking forward to trying their pizza next time.

Italian food review at Positano Italian Restaurant in DeLand!…read more We tried the chicken parmigiana and penne alla vodka with chicken. Lunch came to $39 before tip, including a Diet Coke and water. The food was good, and I'd give the taste an 8/10. However, I was hoping for a little more of a "wow" factor, especially in the presentation. I'll admit I'm a tough critic when it comes to Italian cuisine because of my Italian background! Overall, Positano is worth a second visit. Next time, I'll try something different and see if I find that extra-special dish. Our server was attentive and did a great job! We've been coming to…read morethis spot since the early 1990s--back when it may have had a different name--but one thing hasn't changed: it's consistently been a great place for pizza (with the usual beer and wine to round things out). The interior hasn't changed much over the years. The flooring and booths look just as I remember, though the tables in the back might be newer. Either way, it's clean--and that's what counts. It's actually a bit nostalgic... like stepping into a time capsule where the pizza never let you down. We stopped in around 3:30 on a Friday and were surprised to find it incredibly busy for that time of day. No problem--the staff handled the crowd like pros. And while the pizza is very good (which is the main event), don't overlook the service: professional, friendly, and fast. Prices have always been fair--something that feels almost nostalgic these days too. So really... why go anywhere else for a pie? Enjoy!

The dough was light with a good texture, and the marinara and cheese combo worked really well together. We tried the pepperoni with extra cheese, the Chicago-style traditional hand tossed pizza, and the Stromboli. Even with just cheese, the flavor was excellent. The prices were very reasonable for the amount and quality of food we got. Overall, everything came together really well flavor-wise, and the order online and pickup experience felt worth it from start to finish. This will likely become my new go-to pizza spot in the DeLand area.

Mirino's Pizza - DeLand, FL - 7.3/10 Review…read more This slice from Mirino's shows up with Florida confidence--like it just rolled in wearing sunglasses and flip-flops, ready to impress but not trying too hard. The crust has a nice little attitude to it: firm enough to hold its shape, soft enough to remind you you're not eating cardboard. It's got that "I was baked in a real oven, not a science experiment" energy. The cheese pulls were respectable--nothing Instagram-viral, but enough to make you nod and say, "Alright, Mirino's, I see you." The sauce brings a low-key charm: a little sweet, a little tangy, a little like it knows the room and wants everyone to get along. Overall, it's a slice with personality. Not life-changing, not legendary, but definitely better than your average Florida pie. It's the kind of pizza you'd grab on a Sunday afternoon and say, "Yeah... this was a good choice." A solid 7.3/10 -- enjoyable, dependable, and very DeLand in the best way.
