The pizza is fresh and handmade, the only downside is that the pizza tends to be very greasy, and sometimes inconsistent. The service here is amazing. The first time I went to this establishment, there was a bit of a wait for the food. While this didn't pose a problem for me and I didn't feel inclined to complain, they gave me a gift card as an apology. This demonstrates that this business deeply cares about their service and quality. Especially because nobody had even made a comment about the wait time. Old scratch is a cozy little place, excellent for big groups or family gatherings. Their menus are excellently designed. All of their graphic design choices are very intentional and gorgeous. We appreciated different recommendations, and grateful we didn't feel rushed through the dining (since customers kept on coming in). We got half Dr. Dre and half Killer Veggie; we also got their seasonal salad of southwest salad (forgot to take the photo since we immediately dug in). Joe's Pizzeria is AMAZING!…read more This place is a North Dayton staple for a reason! It's been around for a long time, and the food is still every bit as yummy as you'd hope. We tried the Deluxe pizza and an Italian sub, and both were fantastic. Honestly, Joe's beats Marion's any day in my book! One tip: CALL AHEAD if you're doing carryout because there can be a pretty long wait. Once I got there, though, the service was fast and everyone was super friendly! And honestly, the food is definitely worth the trip and the wait! If you haven't tried Joe's, put it on your list. You won't be disappointed!

We ordered a cheese pizza with parm and oregano and Italian seasoning. Ambiance inside is like any take out pizza spot. The kitchen is open so you can see the dough and prep process which is cool. Pizza was ready a little earlier than when we arrived (we arrived on time), and the people at the counter were extremely nice. It was made great! Despite the pizza being cold after our 20m drive home (albeit in 20degree weather), it had good crunch and flavor, would recommend coming back! Not my favorite in the city, but definitely top 5.

So, am I rating the pizza or the chicken? If this was a fried chicken place that also sold pizza, I…read morewould give it a 4 or 5. Unfortunately, it is a pizza place that does chicken, and their pizza is mediocre at best. I would say their fried chicken and wings are some of the best in the area, and the JoJo's potato wedges are really good too. I have been disappointed in the pizza every time. The crust is sort of a weird hybrid not quite deep dish that always seems doughy. I also found the sauce to be a little sweet for my preference. I don't mind if someone wants to eat here because I can always get the chicken instead of the pizza.
