Pizza was a weird texture, the dough was tough and the cheese was only decent. Not my cup of tea. However, the customer service was excellent. Very nice delivery person, I will definitely go back to try a different type of food. My in laws said they get pasta here and I love a good pasta, so I will try that in the future. read more

Cheesy bread sticks were NASTY. The all meat pizza was actually pretty good. The table was all sticky so I wiped it down with some wipes in my purse. It was still very sticky so I think the plastic laminate top was just degraded. There were two younger gals working behind the counter, both with long ponytails. They kept messing with their hair and stroking their ponytails and then cutting the pizzas and putting them on the platters or in the boxes. Not appetizing. Will we be back....probably not. read more

Finding delicious foods in small towns is never easy. Of course, you're bound to find many a burger, but good food (I'm talking the kind you'll drive over twenty miles for) is hard to find. Papa Don's is delicious and I would 1000% make a second trip to Ft. Scott, KS just to taste this pizza again. The pizza is handmade, crust to cheese. Vegetables sliced in house, dough prepared in house, cheese grated in house. You can tell. It is fresh in every sense of the word. (Bonus: they offer a veggie pizza... a rare find in small-town USA.) These guys make their own dough, sauce, cheese, and ranch dressing (if that's your thing!). They also have ice cream and gelato! Tried the veggie pizza, it was hot and fresh and crispy. Definitely not a frozen crust. The service was excellent. Our waitress/cashier was incredibly cheerful and helpful. Cozy atmosphere. Great place to visit! read more

We were just in town on the way through and stopped there for a quick lunch. We had three half sandwiches. All were good although the pizza sauce on mine was cold. Not a huge deal. Total bill was less than $12 for three people and we left feeling full. There's no place in the KC metro where that can happen. We'll definitely be going back when we have more time so we can order a pizza. The people next to us had one and it looked amazing! read more

Stopped in town on a road trip. I ordered a papa dons pizza and it was pretty good. My wife had the pasta and meatballs. The pasta and meatballs were something you could make at home. The environment was okay but overall the food tasted good. read more

I really like some stuff about Papa Dons. The wait staff is the nicest in town, the food is cooked timely and they never mess up an order. The food leaves something to be desired at least to me. Like I said in other reviews im from the NJ/NYC area so i realize my pizza expectations my be higher than most, but why does this pizzas crust taste like shredded wheat? Also why is it cut into like 128 slices instead of 8? these are all questions that bother me. Their side dishes are hit and miss as well but they do have the best Gelato I have had in the midwest. So if you take your wins with your losses and are in Ft Scott it's worth dropping by. read more

I stopped by here while visiting Fort Scott on a road trip. It was Sunday and literally nothing else was open. The service was friendly, although it took them about 20 minutes to make my super basic sandwich. Sandwich itself was completely average and a little overly saturated with mayo and mustard....could barely taste the tuna. It seems like an affordable, simple Italian place that will help quell hunger when passing through, but I don't think it is worth trying if other spots are open. read more

Papa Don's is a great addition to downtown Fort Scott. It's definitely a great choice if you're visiting the historic fort site and want something a bit different than fast food off the highway - they mainly have sandwiches, gelato, ice cream, and pizza. My mate and I shared a 12" vegetarian pizza and it made a very good lunch. The toppings were fresh and plentiful and the cheese was awesome. However, I do think their prices (on pizza) are a little high considering the type of establishment this is. I saw other diners with yummy-looking spaghetti and garlic bread, too. While this place is rather clean and nicely painted with plenty of dining space (and spotless restrooms on my visit)...Papa Don's is definitely not a "nicer" sit down pizzeria. I ordered a thin crust special for pick up. The sauce tasted like bbq, the pizza overall was awfull, and expensive at $$ for bad. Bad frozen pizza tasted better. I had an excellent pizza in shop a year ago, with locals. I won't recommend ever again. read more

Stopped in here for lunch after visiting the historical site. They were decently busy, but the service was good and we didn't have to wait long for the food. We had their breadsticks which had garlic butter and a great marinara dipping sauce. I had a plate of fettuccine alfredo and it was decent. Nothing to rave about, but a good lunch at a small town diner. The portions are HUGE, I ordered a half plate and my father ordered a half sandwich (grinder, which he really liked) and those were more than enough. We had full meals, breadsticks, and 2 soda/tea's for $20. read more
