I feel like I'm doing several 5 star reviews lately, but there are some really great food joints in Monument. We ordered a pie from Papa Bear Pizza, the Clyde and Chauncey, and it was superb. This place is kind of unique in that they are not just cranking out pizza in volume. If you want a pie here, you better call early and order. When they run out, they run out. When Charlie brought out our pizza curbside, she was so excited to meet our Beagle puppy that she brought her a little side of cheese. Nice touch! The pizza here is good but I don't know that it's worth the extra cost that it comes with over a similar place like Walter's. I have never been inside because they've only been doing curbside side takeout but hopefully they have inside seating soon. read more

We were told we could order a pizza, but it would take 2 and a half hours. Please list this right it could be a good place to eat but it's not there today. Start with the perfect dough: crisp, with just enough soft chewiness, perfect weight cooked to perfection. Seriously, I could just eat the cooked dough and it would be better than 90% of the other pizzas out there. But Papa Bear has a serious selection of imported, farm fresh ingredients. We ordered a pepperoni, artichoke heart and thick, center cut applewood smoked bacon, with house red sauce and fresh mozzarella. They are located in a beautiful building in downtown monument. There are about 5-10 booths, and the only negative I could see is that they are (currently) mostly a takeout based business. The inside was a little quiet; they could use some music and a little more focus on dine-in business. This is a new, locally owned and operated independent store. Monument needs more of these, so do yourself a favor and get out and support Papa Bear Pizza! read more

Papa Bear Pizza is the best pizza I have had in the US, and I have lived in Europe and ate in Italy. They use organic (which is important to me) and local ingredients where possible and make everything from scratch. This is artisan food, crafted with the best ingredients and with love for high quality, organic food. If you want excellent ingredients, food and service, this is the place to go. This is not a place for those who just want a fastfood type of takeout. It's a good idea to call and order before opening hours because when they run out of their fresh made tough they stop selling. I usually call at 1 pm to place my order and then choose my pickup time when they are open for service. The people running the place are wonderful people. Charlie is such a wonderful lady with a big heart and always a smile on her face. For me, it's a special place for many reasons. I love to go there and support such a fine family business. We ordered the Kebler, extra crispy - by far and away the best pizza we've had in Colorado. Being from Chicago their pizza would compete with the best thin crust in Illinois. We tried the Twin Sisters, the Buffalo Bill, and the 5 cheese. All were really good as was the salad. Pizza is good, dough is okay. It was an hour to get a pizza. Building and lady are nice. There are a number of tables, we were confused about eating in. Is it okay? The original plan was to eat one slice, save the rest for the next day's lunch and write a review. I finished all my pizza in one sitting and was astonished at the quality. I'm a native New Yorker (born and raised in Brooklyn Baby!) and I'm extremely particular about my pizza. We've been in Colorado for 4 years and I pretty much gave up. Papa Bear opened and I had a hunch that the mom and pop shop MIGHT deliver on quality and taste. I should also mention that I generally eat in line with whole 30/paleo so having pizza is an instant horrible hangover feeling for at least 24 hours. That didn't happen with this. I can only say that the reason I wouldn't have that horrible carb overload feeling the next day is because they use real ingredients and no stabilizers or garbage. I'm incredibly impressed and I WILL be returning. I'm almost happy they don't deliver, I'd be eating pizza every day. read more

I prefer to support local business, the storefront is attractive and clean, they offer board games at the tables, and the lady on the phone and in person was very friendly, but I thought the pizza was just ok. Several posts mention the crust, I prefer a more crispy thin crust and this is a more doughy hand toss type crust that tastes like sourdough. I can appreciate the notion of quality ingredients and freshness, but in the end pizza isn't healthy no matter how you make it and this pie didn't win any flavor contests. Possibly the Mile High Hawaiian isn't the best choice; at $17 it's unlikely I will be trying others to double-check. read more
