i did a lot of weird things growing up. One of which is the way I eat siopao, which is I bite around the filling, just eating all the white bread, while leaving behind the asado/bola bola since I never liked the stuff. But siopao bread is amazing...and I know how weird that sounds since it's the blandest thing ever.
Since I stopped eating meat, naturally I wouldn't go looking for siopao. But Pao Express' siopao really intrigued me, as they have whole wheat veggie siopao AND multigrain mushroom siopao! And I love veggies and mushrooms, so it was a match! I eat the whole siopao now!
I first tried their siopao and spinach dumplings at Cocogreen, an organic store that used to stock it when it was still located in Yakal St. But Pao Express can be found in Legazpi Sunday Market, and they do have some stalls in some malls (Market Market, MOA, SM Sucat, to name a few).
For vegans: They don't have the 2 siopao flavors and spinach dimsum in their mall kiosks, though. However, what they do have at the mall branches is the siopao that has beans inside, which is a cheap, yummy treat. I share it with my dog and he goes CRAZY for it. read more
