When I recommend Dr. Carr to people, I say "she makes all other therapists look like amateurs", and it's true. When I had my first session with her, I was in a very dark place. If I could give Dr. Carr 10 stars I would, she's that incredible and gifted in her craft of empowering people to live a life of authenticity, truth, balance and ultimately love. She has a no nonsense way about her in that she sees through any veils or illusions that come up, and get in the way of the real work. She does this in order to encourage living a life of truth telling. I love how she incorporates spirituality into her practice in that she allows each of us to discover and choose the God of our understanding. Dr. Carr is a game changer! I've been seeing her for over 2 years now and my life and relationships are so much better for it. She is not like any other therapist and after only a few sessions my anxiety levels reduced significantly! Dr. Carr can really see you and knows exactly how to get to the deeper places that need to be reached and worked on. She is full of caring, loving energy that she sends your way through the entire session. She also knows how to hold you accountable so you can do the work that needs to get done for your well being (even if you're a little resistant or blind to it). I met Dr. Carr 20 years ago when she was my medical doctor. I lived in the area and needed a doctor and luckily found her! Here we are 20 years later and still talking! To be honest, I've been trying to write this review for the past year, but I never complete it, because I can not find words great enough to describe who this wonderful woman has been for me, or the impact she has had on my life. Ultimately, it has been up to me to make changes and choose the path I want to follow, but she has guided me through it, helped me to open my eyes, and taught me how to develop a very large tool box of life skills, and communication skills. I searched online for a Jungian oriented therapist in San Diego because Jung's worldview has been helpful to me. The search led to Dr. Carr. She quickly recognized that I'm head person, but never put that down. Rather, she urged me to improve my ability to recognize feelings and welcome them with equal enthusiasm as I give to a great new idea. In the months that we worked together, I reported on many experiences where feelings arose that were beyond my capacities to handle well. They disrupted my relationships and marriage. Dr. Carr and I seized on these as opportunities for new consciousness, not experiences of pathology. Over many visits together, she guided me into topographies of consciousness where my head's intellect and gut's primal, emotional intelligence could come together in the intelligence of the heart.
