I have been seeing Allen for about 6 months now. Allen is my first therapist so I do not have a lot of experience with therapy. I can say I am very happy with Allen's approach to my mental healing. We do talk therapy for current issues life brings, then do EMDR and hypnotherapy for some childhood PTSD. Allen's approach is very organic and non-judgemental. It has been a long road to recovery, but for the first time in close to a decade of dealing with depression and anxiety I can see that light shimmering in the distance. read more

Dr. Sidwell is amazing! It's really hard to find therapist and psychiatrists that you vibe with in general, but I was looking for someone for EMDR, which is obviously extra sensitive bc you're usually dealing with trauma. Dr. Sidwell made me feel super comfortable from the beginning and has helped me work through a LOT of traumas and even been able to delve into some things I didn't even realise were affecting me. He never made me feel judged and truly listened to my experiences before starting the work each session. Also just a really authentic, genuine, nice person. Would very highly recommend! read more

I was referred to Allen by a friend during a challenging chapter of my life. His support helped me find clarity and direction across the board--from personal growth to career advancement. Since working with him, I've grown into new leadership roles, made a bold career move, and built a healthy, lasting relationship with my now-wife of over eight years. Even in areas like family, where things once felt strained, I've found more peace and healthier dynamics. Allen's insight, professionalism and steady presence have made a lasting impact. read more

Didn't even get a call back, left a few voice messages, would have scored lower. However what does draw you in is the previous ratings, seems he helps a lot and I was excited to get therapy done. As stated the rating write ups are great and even the excerpt from the book on Amazon read great, now I'm thinking everything is inflated. I am looking else where, too bad...... read more

Dr. Sidwell is such an awesome Therapist and Hypnotherapist who helped me greatly during the duration of time meeting with him, which was about a year and a half. It was nice that Dr. Sidwell had such a wide range of experience, depending on my situation we could switch from talk therapy to implementing hypnotherapy, helping me release some of my trauma. I was impressed by how calm he was for our sessions, it was comforting to have his guidance throughout compacted traumatic events in my life, big changes in my life, and breakthroughs. I am thankful for the skills that he taught me to use on my own independently as well. Not only that but his office is cool and welcoming, the chair is cozy and I enjoy my visits to the space. Great art to look at that Allen made himself which is really impressive. I would highly recommend Allen Sidwell for therapy and I am thankful to the one friend who recommended his work to me! read more

Allen is a highly skilled therapist. I have tried many therapist both traditional and alternative. Allen is among the best. He is very intuitive. I have found that many therapists lack the insight necessary to help you accomplish much in an hour of time. Allen is great at sensing underlying issues and helping you discover them in a safe positive way. More importantly he is great at helping you develop coping mechanisms and tools that work for you. Here is my anecdotal experience with Allen: I started seeing Allen about 5 months ago after I noticed some behaviors out of myself that were straining the relationship between my boyfriend and I. I felt helpless and out of control. I was fearful of losing my boyfriend, who I love dearly. I had no idea where my behaviors were stemming from. Within two session Allen had helped me identify the source of my behaviors, and within two or three more sessions my boyfriend was commenting on the sharp decrease in my behaviors. Allen was able to quickly help me mitigate my immediate issues. I was so happy with the progress I saw in myself working with Allen, that I chose to keep seeing him. In addition to helping me address the behaviors I initially sought his expertise for he has helped me reach a more peaceful, joyful space. Best of luck on your journey! Allen is a great guide. read more

I tried to go see a different therapist first before I saw Allen. This lady rushed me during our first session, and tried to sell me a weekend workshop for 850.00. The entire session lasted 45 mins. It was awful. Allen has never tried to sell me on anything other than his help. I found Allen on Yelp and decided to make an appt with him. I went to him when I was going through a very deep depression. It's been 6 months since my first visit. Personal growth takes time, but I've already noticed so much improvement with myself. I'm more understanding and compassionate of others and I've been able to build more confidence to start my own business. I believe the entire world should go to therapy. Everyone can benefit from it... especially now. I highly recommend Allen to anyone. read more

Alan is a passionate, caring human who has made a major, positive impact on my life. RE: Hypnotherapy, I'm convinced it's the only way to go about therapy. Otherwise, our conscious mind stands in the way of our progress, and while it still helps to talk to others, we really do get in our own way. Hypnotherapy accesses the conscious mind, addressing self-limiting beliefs and negative experiences that are holding us back. Therefore, results are fairly quick compared to conventional therapy - but that doesn't mean that reinforcement isn't required, as with anything else in life (diet, exercise, faith, etc.). read more
