Fantastic sandwich shop now in Valpo! Love the entire menu but my favorite is the chicken pesto sandwich.

I love everything here! I wish the side salad you get came in a bigger bowl but it's all good.

Oh wow! I never would have imagined an experience like this in Valpo. We had a last-minute reunion…read moreduring the holidays and managed to snag spots on the bar side. It looked like reservations are highly recommended if you're planning to dine in. The ambience was elegant, calm, and intimate, and the service was hard-working, cheerful, and accommodating. Our large group ordered a variety of drinks, and not a single person was disappointed. I can personally vouch for the espresso martini and the Fashioned in Apple; both perfectly suited my tastes. For dessert, a friend ordered the chocolate mousse while I chose the Yule Log. The presentation was gorgeous and delicate, and of course, they were delicious. Now I just need to come back to try the food. The prices might sting a bit, but I have a feeling my taste buds will convince me it's worth it.

A quick tip: definitely call ahead for a reservation. The dining area is small but cozy, offering a really intimate vibe. The cocktails were fantastic, and the staff couldn't have been friendlier. The food? Outstanding. You can tell the owner knows a thing or two about authentic flavors--probably from time spent traveling and living abroad. I really appreciated how true the dishes stayed to their roots. The semi-open kitchen was also a great touch--it shows they're confident in their craft and proud of what they're serving. I'm not usually big on desserts, but wow. Honestly, they might be more known for their desserts than the entrees, but both were amazing. What really pulls it all together is the service--attentive, thoughtful, and full of personality. That's what makes this place special.

I'd say at least once a month they have a deal so remarkable that I scamper over here to load up on that item. Last week they had Old Orchard apple juice, fairly big jug for 98¢. I came in just for that. Bought a dozen. I get a little sheepish like I'm taking advantage, but the clerks are glad to see you and glad you're getting a great deal. No need to worry if you aren't picking up your whole week's worth of groceries, they couldn't be nicer. They also always have a nice selection of seasonal items wether that's pumpkins and mums in the fall or Christmas wreaths and poinsettias after Thanksgiving. Especially if you have errands in Calumet Ave, be sure to stop by!

Folks, they have raised the prices there and at Strack's to unbelieveable highs. Who pays $8.00 for 6 "half" pieces of "frozen" corn on the cob??? You BETTER watch out. They pout these stickers on products, trying to "CON" you into thinking you're getting a good price, compared to their "regular" price. BULL. They have been slowly raising prices on hundred, maybe thousands of items at BOTH stores, hoping we won't notice. NOTHING will change until we all stop shopping there. If you don't care about "peeing" your money away, keep shoppping there. We're done with BOTH stores. Aldi and Meijers here we come. It sickens me to see them SCREWING us and all the while, they're laughing all the way to the bank.

Funny enough, we had visited a sister restaurant by the same owners in Miami a few years ago and loved it. The menu was different (more seafood based) but the vibe was the same...laid back, fun and in a super cute setting. We sat in the bar area and we're there for happy hour. Honestly folks, you can't beat the happy hour prices for both food or drinks. I went with a glass of wine and hubby had a beer on draft. We decided on fried pickles because who doesn't love them? I know fried pickles and wine... Not the most common combo but that's how I role. For our entrees we both had chicken. And let me tell you, it was cooked perfectly. The crispy skin was amazing! You shouldn't be shocked that I ate the skin, I had just finished fried pickles so I knew there would be nothing healthy about this meal!! The biscuit was also very good. And did I mention the happy hour prices... Bonus!! Our waitress was the bartender and she was so great. She was warm and friendly and made our great experience even better! I actually complimented her for her service, she was so above and beyond and was surprised to learn she hasn't worked there that long. I think her name was Michelle, but sadly I waited a few weeks to write this review and now I'm not positive (def not an Elite move).
