When this restaurant opened in Borehamwood last year we were very keen to try it out. My wife is allergic to MSG and the promise of an MSG-free Chinese meal - something very difficult to find in the UK - was exciting.
Our first meal was great: fresh food with lots of flavour and well balanced. We went back numerous times. However, the service was never that great to begin with and this is something that has slipped even further over the past few months.
The young man serving me tonight served my water in a coffee mug, handed me my cutlery and plate after touching their 'eating' surfaces with his hands, and had his thumb in my food when it was served. He also did not know what, if any deals, the restaurant was running that evening.
The food was ok. The Egg Fried Rice was a good portion and tasted quite good but Sweet and Sour Chicken was dry and not well balanced in flavour.
I had such high hopes for Pangs when it moved to the High Street but I feel quite let down by my recent experiences there. I hope they can pull it together as there are already quite a few Chinese restaurants on the road and I might have to rethink where I get my Chinese from in the future. A pity considering what an institution this place was when it was in Radlett. read more
