I know they're supposed to be a fusion restaurant. I believe it's like a Peruvian fusion but it just didn't work for me with the fried rice. It didn't taste very good to me and I really wasn't a huge fan of it. It was kind of dry and flavorless. However everything else that we ordered was good. I also enjoyed my drink as well. The inside of the restaurant, though we didn't sit there was very beautiful when I walked to the restroom and the restroom is really gorgeous as well. Our server was really nice, but I did feel like she kind of went missing for quite some time. I felt like majority of the time we were there she didn't check up on us as much as I would've liked, and there was a point where we were kind of looking for her so that was probably the only thing that I would note in terms of service. It was great to find a dependable and reasonably priced restaurant nearby. Gary loved the bao bums with barbecue beef. While Lido garners the historical note as the oldest Chinese restaurant in Chinatown (1969), it has kept up appearances. The restaurant is casual, not too fancy, and not old school Chinatown dumpy where you're afraid to sit on the chairs. Linen table cloths are a nice touch. We've tried a LOT of the dim sum dishes, with a few that I've never eaten before. All the steamed dim sum came out piping hot fresh. I didn't order Crispy Duck but Peking Duck is not supposed to come with loose and floppy skin. I complained and sent it back. I just ended up ordering cha shu bao instead. Spicy Szechuan Beef Broth - This was for sure our wild card dish. The beef was great but this is a true Szechuan dish. You could tell by the fresh peppers and how peppery it was. If you're not ready if it that flavor blast is going to get you. We had an amazing time and of course meal at Shanghai Modern.
