I can't say enough about this company! First of all, we have been on many white water rafting trips, and this was the best experience, by far! We were searching online for a rafting company and discovered Pangaea. It was 9:00 at night we called, andexpecting to leave a message. But David, the owner answered the phone, and all our questions, so we booked a trip with them for the next day, even though it meant driving back 2 hours from where we were. The experience itself was awesome-- we received a warm reception and the grounds were impeccable. We met the other folks in our group (all very nice) and were shuttled to the put out point a few miles away. Our guide, Mandela, was amazing! She is professional, personable, and very knowledgeable. She made sure we all had a great and safe time. She explained what we were seeing, what we were doing and why at each point. We all had a great time. One of the best features was the lunch we had that Brooke, David's wife, prepared for us. Homemade gourmet fare, including still-warm-from-the-oven brownies! No standard box lunch sandwiches here! At the site where we stopped for lunch, two swimmers who were rafting with another company went by us and signaled they were in distress. Mandela immediately went to their rescue, throwing a rope line out to them. With some help, she was able to bring them safely to shore. They were exhausted, and may not have made it without her assistance. Their own rafting company caught up to them several minutes later-- which would have been too late. The rapids were tons of fun- we spotted a bald eagle too, but my personal favorite experience was when Mandela brought out her didgeridoo and serenaded us and the other rafters on the river at the time. She was sensational! When we returned, the warm outpouring continued as we had complimentary drinks and snacks. David did not charge our credit card until he knew we were completely satisfied with our adventure. The whole experience absolutely exceeded our expectations. I hope we can return to raft with Pangaea and encourage everyone to select them for the BEST rafting experience! read more

We got a package deal from the Wallace Inn last year which included two nights stay plus rides on the Hiawatha Trail and best of all... Pangaea River Rafting! We loved it so much that we came back again this year with our friends and had an equally great time rafting the Clark Fork River in Montana! David and Brooke have hired the best possible river guides and they all work together to give every guest a wonderful experience. Brooke gave a very thorough safety talk before we even loaded on the bus for the ride to the river. Our guide, Mandela, reviewed safety procedures again once we were on the river and made sure we were all comfortable in our paddling positions. Due to the hot summer the water level was a little lower this year but the whitewater through the Alberton Gorge was still thrilling! The weather was perfect - lots of warm sunshine to dry us out after getting drenched in the whitewater! Lunch halfway through our trip was outstanding! And in case some of you are wondering... there is an "outhouse" at the lunch stop for those of us who needed to use the facility! As an added bonus our guide, Mandela, plays the didgeridoo and was joined by Neil, the guide on another raft, for a little "didgeridoo-ette" as we floated down the calmer portion of the river near the end of the ride. What a great experience to be able to get to know and hang out with everyone from Pangea. During my 11 day stay in Montana, I rafted with Pangea twice and also just hung out with them from time to time. Guides: The rapids only go up to class 3, so any company you go with will have people who can navigate you through just fine. But from what I've seen on the river that sets Pangea apart, is how much more fun we were having. During calm waters, water battles ensued with squirt guns. Rafts were pirated and people were jumping overboard. The guides were great in maintaining a safe atmosphere during play and made sure everyone was having fun. If this does not sound like your kind of thing, the guides were attentive of everyone level of fun and made sure people who did not want to participate were out of the battle zone. Food: The chicken is grilled every morning and the potatoes and brownies come out of the oven just before the trip. Everything is home cooked the day of the trip and delicious. Post Raft: The fun isn't over after the trip because everyone is welcome to hang out and have a beer or soda and play volleyball or throw the frisbee. I am so fortunate I was able to spend time with all these guys. You can really tell they are like family and get along so well. You can not go wrong with these guys. My family went river rafting last year with Pangaea for Father's Day. What a great experience! The water was still cold, so we were suited up with wetsuits and water shoes, but we all had a great day. There were 12 people in our family group so we were split into two different rafts. My guide's name was Mandela and she was lots of fun, she tried to get to know each of us on her raft and let us get to know her as well, and she played her didgeridoo! Awesome! At one point we were supposed to pull into shore for lunch but we splashed over a hidden rock and I fell out of the raft with my brother-in-law and one of my brothers! Whoo! I was pumped with adrenaline for quite a while after that, and I had a HUGE bruise that I discovered on my hip later from hitting the dumb rock, but no one else got hurt - and I held onto my paddle! (I don't know how I managed that) The guides all babied me and told me I didn't have to help paddle anymore, but I told them to forget that, I was having too much fun to stop! I will definitely go again in the future, it is a great experience and one my family and I will always remember and treasure. read more

5 years ago I was invited along on a whitewater float by a friend. I had always been a river person but had never tried a whitewater float. Dave, Brooke, Kristin and the gang not only showed true expertise in reading the water and safely navigating the rapids, but did it with as much or more enthusiasm and enjoyment as the rest of us in the boat. The experience they provided me inspired me to purchase my own boat and take the trip several time a year. I still consistantly refer anyone that inquires to Pangaea for a trip they will never forget. And yes in regards to lunch on the side of the river, like everything else, it was top notch. What a great company! Our raft had two adults and a 13 year old with Joe, a great guide! The different ways that the guides in our group kept everyone engaged and laughing is fantastic.He got my 13 year old son to "ride the bull" on the front of the raft, he had such a good time! At one point, Joe let me take over steering the raft while he and my son did a trust activity that even had the surrounding rafts cheering! We had water gun fights with the other rafts in our group, and even jumped off of a cliff during a break! What a blast! Joe's knowledge of the area was superb, even down to the geological makeup of the rocks that my son kept for a souvenir! The lunch break on the river was so unexpected, and the brownies for dessert topped off that great experience (BTW don't forget the potatoes!) Every member of the staff was friendly, happy, and loved their job.....and it shows! I would love to do this trip again, we left boring behind! read more

My extended family of seven had the awesome experience of riding the rapids with Joseph. We got a nice discount because of the size of our party. We had such a fun time, continuously laughing and "digging" those paddles. My daughter was sitting on top of the front part of the raft, hanging onto the ropes (optional), when our raft was completely covered with a wave. We bought the CD of pictures and all you could see of the raft was her her feet in the air! There were squirt guns to shoot at the other boats with, games to be played during the slower parts of the river, and a fantastic gourmet lunch at a beautiful spot. Some of us had been white water rafting before and some of us were newbies. We all agreed that the guides were very friendly, fun, knowledgeable, concerned with our safety, and made our trip with Pangaea the highlight of our summer vacation. I highly recommend this trip. BIG LOVE for Pangaea!!! We have had the opportunity to go on rafting adventures with Pangaea every year for the last 3 now and amazingly each year turns out to be more fun than the year before!!! The staff is all so much fun BUT never ever makes you question their commitment to keeping everyone safe while still having a great time!! Not only do they ensure that everyone has as much fun as they want, they often times participate in the water fights and ruckus!! Makes it just that much more enjoyable!! The guides also set up a delicious lunch out on the river on the full day trip which certainly adds to the day and gives everyone in a large group a chance to relax and interact with each other regardless of the boat they are in for the rafting. My family and I were celebrating my in-laws 50th wedding anniversary and decided to add white water rafting as one of our activities during the week. We were staying in ID at the time so I did quite a bit of researching on several different companies. After all of the research I decided upon Pangaea River Rafting based on rates, rafting time, food, and customer service. We had a raft of 7 people (only 2 have previously been rafting before) and an age range of 15-48. The staff could not have been more knowledgeable, accomodating, friendly, etc. All of my questions were answered when making the reservation and then some when we actually got to the location. They also provide photos of your excursion and the end for a very reasonable price. If you are thinking about going rafting anywhere near the idaho, montana area...I HIGHLY RECOMMEND using this company!!! read more

We've been river rafting with Pangaea since Dave and Brooke bought the business (7years ago). The first trip we took our 2 grand daughters, a nervous 7 year old and a adventuresome 14 year old, they took such great care of them making sure they had fun we were impressed and have rafted with them every year since, we are planning our trip for next year already. We try to take new "victims" every year and every year they have an awesome time! The 7 year old grand daughter (who is now 14) took her 3rd trip this year! The guides are great, the lunch is awesome and well, it's just one of the best things we do every summer. We have recently moved to the west side of the state but Pangaea will be on the summer to do list every year. This was the most epic river rafting experience ever! Mandela was an amazing guide, providing us with a lot of information about the river, the rapids, causes of rapids, what to look for, how the rapids change with the different levels of water, the geology, the wildlife, and of course, safety. We paddled, floated in the raft, floated in the water, jumped off rocks, played trust games, balancing games, rode the bull, rode gondola style, and did it all in costume...which she provided. The pictures are no ordinary pictures because of her. She topped the trip off with a didgeridoo serenade. I can't forget one very important part of any rafting adventure...Pangaea River Rafting provided the best lunch of any tour: bar-b-que chicken, salad, baked potatoes with all the toppings, watermelon, and brownies, all made fresh each morning. The Clark Fork River and the Alberton River Gorge provides super white water for great recreation and good times. Riding the "great white" takes expertise to keep one's head above water, fun intact and the expert guides at Pangaea did this without any loss of screams, bone jarring holes and reversals and outdoor adrenalin rush. Pangaea made sure we got to taste the thrill of class 3 and 4 white water as well as the bounty of a catered, super fresh river side lunch. Even in flat water, the guides were unabated in their skills at entertainment, boat games and water fights. We had a great first experience rafting with Pangaea River Rafting and can't wait to do it again! our guide Paul was awesome!! had an amazing calming presence and was great with our kids making sure even though we may not of had the most adventurous raft mates, he still tried to provide us with the most fun he could. My mom, sister and I were in Missoula for graduation and decided to do a rafting trip on the recommendation of a friend. We could not have been more happy with our trip! Pangaea went out of their way to get our carless group to the river and home again. My mom was a little freaked when she saw how small the raft was, but once the cheese and wine were out she relaxed and really enjoyed herself. Our guide was fantastic and the rest of the team friendly and accommodating. This ended up being HANDS DOWN the highlight of our trip. I have been working on my fear of water for several years with some good success. Last year I decided I was ready for whitewater rafting. I let everybody know that I was somewhat apprehensive but after the safety talk and with the excitement of "actually doing it" I felt quite calm about being in the water. Once on the water I was hooked! I was quite impressed with the strength of our guide. She even pulled us back into the raft after we got dumped. Yes, I was still having a blast!
