Have visited now twice and both times there was a variety of sizes puppies so our golden retriever was able to play and run around. There are a couple benches for the humans to sit, a water fountain for humans and puppies. The ground was covered in what looks like mulch so it is not as muddy as you'd expect it to be. There is no separate enclosure for small dogs but they seem to find each other and play with others their size. Will definitely be dropping by there everytime we are in town.

Decent dog park could be better…read more What it has going for it: - good entry areas, newer fencing - poop bags provided - human & dog drinking water source - adequate seating What it has going against it: - fencing is rather short (4ft) - wood chip ground cover can get muddy after a good rain and snow melt - limited shade - no separate small dog run So this dog park ain't bad, but if you got a dog that can jump a 4 foot fence, I would find somewhere else to take them since the dog run is right next to a rather busy road. Add more shading, better ground cover and fence that is taller then this could be a 4 star dog run/park

Is wrong either way the state parks/rangers YES YOU RANGERS you're charging full price and no one even has anywhere to go take a shit or a piss, there's no honey pots out or anything. What the fuck? Highly highly highly recommend the state park, plus it's dirty, my campsite is full of trash and there's huge rocks lane everywhere including the fire pit

For a seemingly small town, this was a LARGE playground - with lots of different equipment for kids of all ages. It looked like different structures had been installed at different times as some were quite aged and others looked newer. Some large tractor tires were a particular hit with my kids - which seems to be some kind of trademark of Montana playgrounds. LOTS of tall trees meant that there was some shade to picnic in around the outside of the playground. There was also some kind of sports field in the vicinity. No idea when we might drive into Montana again - but if we do, this would DEFINITELY be a place my kids would like to stop!

I had reserved three nights during my stay in the region and that was smart because every site was occupied. It's too bad because I liked this park and wanted to spend more time at my lakeside campsite. A plus was the other campers who were all incredibly quiet and respectful.

When I was there it seemed that many locals had walked to the park with their dogs. They are supposed keep their dogs on a lease per local ordinance though three people were letting the dogs run around of the lease. This is a problem especially when the dogs are not well trained and jump up on strangers. I was not to happy about a wet dog jumping on me. There is a small free parking area near Spruce Street with boards put up by the local Audubon Society to educate visitors to what type of birds like the park. Most of the park was donated by The Greenough Family in 1902.

The drive up is long and the road is narrow but their is a pretty good sized parking lot once you reach the top. The path seems to be very well maintained and it's an easy hike. I suggest going in the spring because all of the creeks are flowing strong and the sounds and smell mixed with the giant cedars is just amazing, but you should for sure come back in the summer as well while the creeks may not be flowing it is still stunning and people stack stones in the creek bed it really is a sight to see!
