I tend to be a procrastinator. Paired with my friend, Jessica, we can annoy pretty much all store owners... I know you close in two minutes...BUT.... Panera was no exception. I had never been but Jess had and was raving about the iced chai and creamy broccoli soup. How could i say no? Energy paired with cheesy stuff thatll make me poop green...sign me up! We flew in and said our normal line...and surprisingly enough the kind gentleman behind the counter didnt grunt, and the floor didnt open up in some sort of hellish bad movie to suck us in and make us pay for our sins. As he took our chai order jessica asked for a sample of the soup. Not gunna lie- I was a bit embarrassed because i already felt so bad making him serve us anything at 8:58 when they close at 9:00pm. Quickly i learned why he didnt really mind...we had our chai within a single moment, and it took me longer to blow furiously on my soup and cool it to eat then it did for jessica to pay and have us walking out the door. The location was perfect, the service was great, the food was amazing! The very decent sized sample of that soup has had me back twice now. The restaurant was so clean and set up was fantastic. Panera's are pretty standard in terms of quality. I love how most of them are including self serve kiosks including this one. I got the Pick 2 with broccoli cheddar and turkey avocado blt with a side of chips. Everything was pretty on point. The sandwich has a little too much mayo for my liking but it was still delicious. Everyone should be fired at this location including the manager! We are a nearby business who constantly orders from them, catering and regular lunch orders.. EVERY SINGLE TIME there's food, beverages or dressings missing! You can call them for hours on end and NO ONE answers on any extension. They take our money and don't give us the proper food items. They're scammers! We've had major issues with them in the past where our order was 3 hours late.... The manager Mike begged us for our business and to make things right. Placed a catering order for 25 people almost 2 weeks ago. 30 minutes before delivery we get a phone call that there is no cream cheese. Kind of annoying since we ordered a bagel and pastry platter. So I asked what could be done. I figured we were supposed to get 3 cream cheeses and got nothing, they could knock a few dollars off our $100 plus order. Nope. Response was "we can cancel the order." Since I had people coming for a business meeting, that did not really work. It's not even about the mess up with the order that bothered me, it was the attitude about it. Like it was my fault. Same lady delivers the food and then gives me attitude about the directions not being clear. I supplied her with name of business, address, building name and room number. I actually didn't order anything for this review. I needed to use the restroom first and decided not to spend my money at this location after seeing what happened. When I walked in I saw no employee at the register/counter and a women holding a child was at the counter waiting to be assisted. An employee who had just walked into Panera stated to her "someone will be right with you" as she walked away (maybe to punch in). Now it's understandable that people are busy however, there was a gathering of 5-6 employees talking at the pick up counter. Not preparing food, but just talking. Not only were they all just standing there talking but they also heard the employee tell the young lady someone will be there to help you (because they stopped speaking and looked in her direction) and no one moved. WOW. The young woman out of frustrated stated out loud, "I guess I will use the kiosk since they are just standing there talking." Again, all the employees just looked at her from several feet away and NO ONE attempted to stop their conversation to assist her. When I was finished with the restroom and leaving I noticed the young woman still using the kiosk and another patron who came in being assisted. It was after 3:30p and the Panera was pretty empty. This particular Panera Bread always supplies fresh food in a timely manner. While it is not going to be the cheapest meal around this area, the freshness and healthiness options play a big role. I personally enjoy the broccoli cheddar soup, Asian sesame chicken salad, or the frontega chicken. But everything I've had is simply delicious. Sept 18, 2016: My family and I placed an order before arriving for breakfast to ensure that everything we wanted would be available and ready. The bacon Souffle's go fast, so we make sure to call and order ahead of time. When I placed the order I spoke with the guy in charge that day (Muhammad), and he transferred me to an employee who finished processing my order. The employee said the items will be ready when I arrive. When we arrive, they tell me they don't have the items I ordered. In fact, there is an open box on the counter which had my items. They gave MY order to someone else who was in line ahead of us. I ask to speak with Mr Muhammad, who then denies even speaking to me on the phone. In fact his suggestion is that we come back tomorrow for the food. What kind of customer service is this? Muhammad is a liar and disgrace to Panera management. He should be nowhere near a leadership position, let alone a microwave. read more

The advertisements for Panera center around "clean food". Not that it makes a difference when one of its establishments brings lukewarm oatmeal, filthy spoons, and the condiments bar has smeared fingerprints all over the honey and cinnamon containers. No amount of computerization and convenience (kiosks, buzzers e.g.) can make up for this poor customer facing aspect. I hadn't been here to the Springfield Rt 22 location in a while, and it it the last time. I think these problems are local to the franchise. The Panera in Sterling doesn't have such issues; nor does the one in Millburn Short Holls. read more

I guess they changed the cook and they are having trouble making orders. I've been coming here just about every Friday morning for the same order and they are failing big time compared to the last cook. Standing there complaining about orders complaining about deliveries. I give up on this chain. Food is tasteless, and there is hardly any chicken in the salads. Sandwiches are a mess, it's like the preparer slaps 2 pieces of bread down, grabs handfulls of filling, shoves it on and slams it all together into and stuffs it into a wrapper. I've been going to Panera for years, love their food but just had the WORST experience with DELIVERY from this location (about 8 min away). Placed an order (for my entire office) at 11:20 for delivery around 12:45-1:00. We take lunch from 1-2. Around 1:05 with still no food, I called the cafe, was told that my food is on the way and someone called out so it's been busy. Fine, no problem. 1:35 and still no food. I try calling the cafe four or five times, but no answer. I finally call the corporate line at 1:45, they get in touch with the store manager who offers to refund the order or deliver the order 5 min before our lunch break ends. He has no explanation for how this happens or why I was given inaccurate information, as he was out for a delivery and just got back himself. I had my order successfully refunded and ordered food from a better delivery service in the area. Bottom line: To me, for a major company launching a delivery service, this is just unacceptable. Stick to ordering in-store from here, though I definitely will not be visiting this cafe myself. read more

Good thing about this place: The taste is definitely good The poor review is for their ability to follow instructions (multiple times) on a simple order placed online for rapid pickup. Ordered dinner for FI and myself through Rapid Pickup which claims the food will be ready within 10 minutes. We arrived 30 minutes later and... no food was on the shelf. Went inside to ask what's up. They said they ran out of the bread for two of the sandwiches and were waiting to find out which bread I wanted..... you couldn't call me and ask? You had to make me wait there another 10 minutes for my food to be prepared? The good thing was the manager offered a complimentary bakery item for the wait so I asked for their Chocolate Chip cookies which are yum!! Oh.... you're out of Bread... at Panera BREAD... AND you're out of my complimentary Chocolate Chip cookies... Oh... fuggedaboutit. Took my food and went home. Food taste is still good so I return! For religious reasons, I give up meat for 9 days. Panera has great tasteful options for vegetarians so I ordered online through their very convenient system (again). Ordered a pasta and made sure it said without Chicken. Ordered a Salad, again making sure it was without meat. Also ordered a large coffee and a baguette side that comes with the two. When I got home and opened the bag, both entrees had chicken so I was unable to eat either. The reason this review is 3 stars and not 2 is because I called the manager (Jefferson?) who promptly provided a refund without any hesitation. (MUCH appreciated). Trust me, it's difficult for me to see chicken, smell chicken, and not eat chicken. I love chicken! But I maintained the will power to refrain from eating said chicken and the manager was very polite and understanding. (5 stars for the manager). I ordered rapid pick up again - salad no chicken with a baguette, breakfast sandwich (no meat) and a coffee. Thank goodness this time everything was vegetarian. However, they forgot to pack the baguette. I love the bread. How can Panera BREAD forget the BREAD?! AHHH! From now on, I will check the bag when I pick up. I want the yummy baguette bread! UPDATE ---------- I'm adding another star for manager, Michelle. This place seems to run out of things a lot, but the way the managers take care of their patrons makes up for it. FH and I ordered 3 flatbreads. 2 BBQ Chicken for him and a Mediterranean flatbread for me. Went to the Rapid pickup window 20 minutes after we ordered and there was nothing there. We looked at each other with the expression of "Oh no, not again!". We arrived and the manager came by to talk to us apologizing they ran out of flatbread and said she owes us flatbread on our next order. We placed a new order with her of frontega chicken sandwich, salad, and a full tuna sandwich (our usual). We also purchased their yummy chocolate chip cookies. I didn't ask, but I half expected Michelle to comp our Chocolate chip cookie. To both of our surprise, she comped the entire meal and still told us to come back for our free flatbread. Now THAT is how you take care of a regular customer. I'm there at least twice a week. This Panera might run out of things often, but the managers there are excellent! Customer service really makes a big difference. I'll still continue to go because I know even if I am inconvenienced, I'll still be taken care of with alternative options. I love the food at Panera but today I decided not to eat in and took my food to go. Not because of the patrons, but because of a man of whom appeared to be a manager. As I was waiting for my food to be prepared, he had a very very loud conversation with other staff members complaining about how hard his job is and openly trashing other staff members that weren't there to defend themselves. I used to LOVE this particular Panera Bread location! Service was excellent, staff was always friendly and the food was always great! Unfortunately, the QUALITY of service that USED to be extended here is a thing of the past. The managers that USED to work here (Michelle, Rich and Dexter) ran a "tight ship" and in my opinion was a good thing and the employees were more friendly and pleasant then the ones that work here now and management is sub par to say the least. I will say there are a few employees here that have been working here since I started patronizing this place in 2012 as a Rutgers U student that have ALWAYS been pleasant and catered to my needs (Kyree, Tiffany) and a couple others whose names have escaped me. The bottom line is...it's just not the same. The last few times I was here simply weren't good experiences for me. Dirty tables, supplies (i.e. Napkins, straws, cutlery) all empty, the attitudes on the 2 people at register were rude, probably because I had to somewhat tell them how to place the order and what came with it, they seemed like they didn't really care. Meanwhile the manager appeared to be having way too much non-work related fun with the employees preparing the food. The drinks were not tasting right at all so when I opted to get one of the craft beverages, it tasted OLD. I went to Panera for lunch. I had the u pick two : 1/2 soup 1/2 salad . I chose the signature Thai chopped chicken salad. It had romaine lettuce, cashews, fire roasted edamame, red peppers, carrots , fresh cilantro, & wanton strips tossed in a spicy Thai chili vinaigrette and drizzled w/ peanut sauce. If u like a spicy dressing then u will love this! It's sweet and spicy. but not too hot. It came with a baguette and because I did the 1/2 1/2 I also got the broccoli cheddar soup it had real pieces of broccoli in it yum ! My daughter had the full portion of mac n cheese. It was made with Vermont white cheddar sauce over shells.It was very creamy and delicious.and she also chose a baguette. If u don't want a baguette , u have a choice of natural chips or an apple. My advise is the lines get very long at Panera. Before u go look up the menu so u have an idea of what u want and what kind of bread u want it on so u don't hold up the line if its at lunchtime. There are so many variations! This is a place I have never yelped but have been to many many times and will keep coming back! read more

They now have table service. You order on screens when you walk in and they bring the food to your table. You can also order ahead of time and they will have it ready when you get there. The sandwiches are fresh and delicious. The soup bread bowls are amazing. The breads and bagels are always soft and fresh. The pastries are varied and tasty. They have different flavors of teas. Just experienced the most amazing customer service!!!! I wish I knew her name but the manager on duty tonight is awesome .....I'm currently at work and my boyfriend has my car we close at 1030 but Panera closes at 10 ....I sent someone to get my order and they grabbed the wrong order by accident I called the restaurant to apologize and asked if I can pick my order up tomorrow she said absolutely but the only problem is they don't sell the soup I like on Wednesday so I asked if she could just put my order in the fridge since they won't be able to make it to tomorrow ....she wanted me to have fresh soup so she offered me different alternatives and so on and so on ...I apologized again and told her I'm at the ihop but don't have a car to come get It so she offers to bring me my order personally herself!!!! I love Panera and I am a very loyal customer but as I can see, I am not the only person who has an issue with the amount of food that is given everytime, especially at this location. You always have more food when you stay in, I think there should be a standard with the size. There are days where the half sandwiches are a decent size and other days where it's more like a quarter of a sandwich. Today I ordered a BBQ chopped chicken salad just to find no bbq sauce with it, what is the point? Other than those constant issues, the food is pretty good and they have a wide selection. I do enjoy the fact that there is wi-fi for ease of studying as well as outlets so you can charge your devices. There used to be a better manager named Mike there who was a great people person and the reason why I signed up for Panera rewards in the first place.
