This Panera is awful. Got home today with my order and one of the Baja Chicken Bowls was cold and the rice was brittle and crunchy. The avocado was also crunchy. Manager said it was probably still frozen. The second Baja bowl we bought was mostly just rice. On a previous trip through the drive through they gave me the wrong food entirely. I wish they would reimburse me for the gas money for driving back to get a refund. I would avoid this Panera. read more

I have been to this Panera a handful of times... it's close to our house so it was convenient ....they messed up our order EVERY TIME! So the manager always apologized and gave us a free you pick two for the next visit . This visit tonight was the topping on the cake and I declined the free meal ticket for next time and said I will just NEVERR be back to this store again. The staff . RUDE! I'll admit - I'm a bit biased. Panera holds a warm place in my heart. It takes me back to my college days where my friends and I would meet up for a bread bowl or two. And seeing Saginaw progressing with the Panera's and the Chipotle's of the world is great to see (admittedly they are chains, but it's a start!). The cashiers are friendly and efficient. The bread is fresh, yeasty, and delicious. And that's the basis for most of their dishes. I had the chipotle chicken sandwich - great bread with moist chicken, crispy bacon, and cheddar cheese. The GF had the bread bowl, which was crusty on the outside and perfectly chewy within - she chose broccoli cheddar soup - always a good bet. We couldn't help but get a large order of the mac n cheese - perfectly creamy, the pasta was nicely al dente, and you could get the nuttiness and saltiness of the cheese. For a chain - this mac n cheese rocks. It's Pepsi-town here (I'm an admitted Coke fan) - but that's fine. They've got several brewed teas including Acai and coffee ready as well! read more

Unfortunately I find most things on the menu to be overpriced. Including the sandwiches which haven't been the best the past two times I ordered one. The pasta however is my absolute favorite. I love treating myself to a full order of the Chicken Tortellini Alfredo. However I can't do it often or I would be living in a box. All of the bakery goods are delicious and go well with coffee. Let me start by saying that I have no choice but to go to this Panera Bread Location - there isn't another in Saginaw. This place is awful. Consistently awful. They were awful before Covid Shutdowns and have just got worse. The employees are mostly college students at SVSU, so I'll be sure to pass on any resumes from applicants that have attended that school when hiring for my businesses. These people are rude and stupid. When you place an order, they make you feel like you're bothering them. They leave the speaker on while you're making your order, so you can hear all the snide comments they make about the customers they're serving. You order soup, they forget the spoon. Order a drink, good luck getting a straw. They won't answer the phone, so you're forced to go into the restaurant to pick up missing items. The Managers don't care, and it shows in every aspect of the business. For those of us that know what Panera should be like, the glaring failures of this Location are astonishing. We usually come here and the service is decent, then I came in today and was greeted at the counter by the rudest fast food worker I have ever talked to. Her name was Claudia. To the business owner or manager, I suggest you listen to her tone and the way she speaks to customers and maybe your workers would get some tips. I will not come back if she still speaks that way. Pretentious and overrated!! Two of my favorite things to eat are soup and a big salad and they failed miserably on both. I ordered the French onion and my husband had the chicken noodle soup and both tasted old and processed. Even the bread they served was old. I hated giving such a low review because I knew this place was pricey and waited forever to finally try it because I wanted it to be my go to when I wanted something warm and comforting but I should have just grabbed my can of condensed chicken noodle that I always stock in my cupboard on those crappy days. The salad was served with wilted lettuce and mealy tomato. The French onion soup was greasy. Onion, cheese, broth and yet I could have drained a cup of grease from the tiny serving I was given! If I could leave this place zero stars I would. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. Terrible service-the employees were unaware of what items they were out of (they were out of almost everything). Along with the poor service, the food was not up to usual Panera standards. My soup was cold-not luke warm, actually cold. It was also unsanitary-I had to ask for plastic eating utensils because my given silverware was so dirty I could practically see the E.coli growing on it. Heed the ratings. They are correct. Stopped here today (5/23/21). Went through the drive thru to be directed to wait in spot 2, and they'd bring the sandwiches. Spot on was occupied, three filled after us. Both got their food before we did. Then they both filled twice more before we received our food?!? (However, the second car in spot one had an issue, as they parked and took in their receipt after looking puzzled after reviewing their order: did they get ours?) I questioned the employee that came out, he didn't have an answer. I went in, and they gave me a bag with the wrong items. Once I had the "correct" food, one of the sandwiches (Chipotle Chicken Avocado Melt) was literally bread, chicken and cheese. It was pretty nasty. I love Panera. They have healthy choices, they have a good selection of sandwiches, soups, salads, and even smoothies. I love their super fruit smoothie, it's fat free and delicious. I also love their "you pick 2" deal where you can get a cup of soup and half of a sandwich, and that also comes with either a baguette, apple or chips. The staff at this location has always been really friendly to me, and they have pretty quick service too. My only complaint is that the food is a little more expensive than other quick options, but to me it's worth it because of the quality and health/fresh factor. I also enjoy their atmosphere, it's a great place to meet up with people, very relaxed. I used to come to Panera to study or do work for hours while I was in college. They also have great bread and pastures made fresh!! Personal favorite if you want a treat: cinnamon crunch bagel with honey walnut spread. Food: I know its a chain and they have dictates, so this is prob for all. The sandwiches have become a giant disappointment ...two of us ordered the Turkey BLT. I would say there was 1 oz turkey with 3 oz of bread. I had to have a microscope to see a little half pc of bacon so finely sliced the most modest bacon in the groc store is thicker. The baguettes were so stale and hard all 3 people I was with complained about it. None suggested a return visit. The only saving grace was the salad seemed nice, although lettuce isn't that filling. Service: no one asked us what we wanted on our sandwiches...I heard one person order w mustard ...no one even asked us if we wanted mayo slopped on. 3/4 orders were served wrong and that is location oriented. They slammed out (the place was only 1/3 full so its not like it was super busy) orders w baguettes w/o even looking we wanted an apple or chips. I was also not asked for my Panera card (I previously loved the place). Ambience: slightly above fast food Value: 1/5 for $25 we got 2 decaf coffees, 2 salad/sandwich lunch servings. DO NOT GO HERE. I went, ordered a simple grilled cheese, baguette and a chocolate chip cookie for dessert. Not only did they forget the cookie but they also served me my grilled cheese STILL COLD. I opened it up and clearly could tell that it barely even got "warmed up". I could see the individual slices of cheese, showing that it was not the slightest bit melted. When I went to report it, they offered to remake it, which I was thankful for. But, when I got it back they messed up the baguette and gave me a bag of chips. This is my favorite place to eat. I go out of my way to go there and, out of hundreds of times through the drive-thru, my order has only been wrong once. My only concern about Panera is the declining size of the portions versus the eye-popping prices.
