I've tried this establishment a few times, each of which hoping my visit would be more pleasant than the previous. However, that optimism was quickly proved to be wrong as every single experience I've had here was miserable. One visit it literally smelled of human feces by the ordering counter. This is not an exaggeration, I'm not sure if someone behind the counter couldn't control themselves, if there was something wrong with the restaurants pluming or if someone discarded a baby's diaper in one of the trash cans but it was unbearable and the staff showed no effort in resolving the issue. Another visit I ordered a bowl of soup and it was plated so poorly that it looked as if someone scooped a ladle of jailhouse gravy all over my tray and bowl. If this place requests me to pay as much as they do for its food, then I request that they present it in a respectful manor at least. Until this place shows an improvement in character, I will be attending lunch elsewhere, as there are an infinite number of establishments who aim to treat their customers to a pleasant experience. I do not recommend this place if you are in the area looking for lunch or dinner. Save your money and your time by trying another local option; you'll be thankful you did. read more

Visited this location and the broccoli cheese soup had zero flavor , water added I believe , vist was 7 pm January 06 2021 . Also I ordered baguette and when I was given my order the employee said no baguette available. Disappointed with this location, always out of something . Last visit ordered a sandwich with avocado and was told no AVOCADO. I understand Covid but try to order enough product for the menu . We spent $28 for two bowls of Broccoli Cheese soup, 2 sodas, and one whole Turkey Avocado Club sandwich. Seems a bit pricey for so little food. The homemade bread for the sandwich was too small to hold the underabundant sandwich ingredients. Both the underripe tomato slice (only two), underripe avocado (less than half an avocado), and the cold bacon were fresh out of the refrigerator and had zero flavor. The so-called soup was overcooked and thicker than gravy with bits of overcooked broccoli. Panera makes sure to charge way too much for their soda and tea drinks, like so many overpriced restaurants do. Overall, I was disappointed with the meal, and when I asked for a tray to carry my food, I was told they didn't have one. I hope they will soon invest in better quality and portion control. Worst experience with a Panera!!! My Rapid pick-up time was 6:17pm. 6:45pm rolled around and my food was still not on the pick up shelf. I called and asked someone to check on my order. I was left on hold for far too long and hung up to call back. No answer. I called again and when someone finally answered, all they said was "we're trying." I asked that my money be refunded back on my card because I was leaving. She hung up on me!!! An hour later, I finally got a hold of a manager. I "like" (not "love") some of their food but they are WAY over priced! It's $7 for a small, dry, tasteless grilled cheese, which ought to be removed from the menu completely. Outrageous! And when you order a bowl of soup, you actually get about the same amount that you would have gotten if you had ordered a cup of soup. And how many have noticed they're making their bagels smaller and charging more for them? Nice atmosphere, but eat before you go, and just order a drink. The on duty manager kicked my wife out since she cannot wear a mask for COVID. Tried to explain that the WV governor's order exempts people with legitimate medical conditions such as asthma. Not only does my wife have asthma but also requires the use ofa service dog for her severe neck injuries which is also an issue for masks. I order rapid pick up from here occasionally and also eat inside. I am so pleased and thankful for this Panera going beyond expectations. Today, a bubbly woman let me taste my decaf frozen caramel to make sure it tasted alright (because I requested it when decaf wasn't an option) and she made it from scratch. I order from this Panera quite often. In the mornings I would want to order the Spinach and Bacon Souflee. That is one of my favorite breakfast items on their menu. However, unless you are one of the first people to order in the morning at 630 AM when they open you're not going to get one. Apparently they can't cook more than two at a time. I ordered the same souflee four or five times in a row and this continued to happen so finally I just stopped ordering that item for rapid pick up because it was NEVER in stock when I ordered it. For lunches, my sandwiches are often smashed when they wrap them up. I understand not wanting a sandwich to fall apart when in its wrapping; however, when its so smashed that literally 1/2 of the sandwich is off the bread then there's a problem here. I love Panera's food and that is the only thing that keeps me coming back to this Panera. I'm not going to say that there is bad customer service, as it is quite good. They have no problem fixing or replacing items that I'm unsatisfied with. However, if you're not going to dine in, you may want to go elsewhere. read more

I don't understand why im this place has a low rating. I go here at least 1 every 2 weeks and they've been consistently good. The fourth star is for their friendly staff. When I bring my baby with me and my hands are full they will even carry my drink over to where I'm sitting. read more

I visit this Panera pretty frequently, every two weeks or so. It's always consistent in portion size. The restaurant is clean, and the staff is friendly. It's usually fairly busy no matter the time of day. This is my favorite Panera that I've visited. Can't go wrong with the Mac and cheese. read more

I absolutely love this Panera. The associates remember me when I come in with my children and are very friendly to us. Sometimes they run out of product but are quick to recommend substitutions and have always gone above and beyond to compensate with something extra. The new vanilla cold brew is absolutely amazing. I will continue to visit this location for the great service and excellent food. I agree that the bill can get a little up there but I consider that before going out and take into account the quality of food and the fact that there are absolutely no preservatives or artificial flavors in anything they serve. For my family, this makes Panera an appealing choice for our tastebuds and our health. read more

Came in around 3pm on a Friday and was told they were sold out of many menu items. For example, there was no French onion soup available and they weren't going to make more for the day. Why wouldn't they make more items to sell since they are scheduled to be open for another 6 hours? Barely any pastries available either. Also, the soda fountain drinks were watered down and lacked flavor. The inside of the restaurant was messy with trash and food on the floor and tables not wiped down. We love this place, My husband loves the sour dough bread and usually gets a loaf sliced and takes it home for his sandwiches during the week. I love their soups and the mac & cheese is fantastic. But it isn't the food that brings us here but also the people and atmosphere. Friendly staff is a plus. The fireplace is a great place to sit. Wifi is available so you can get on the computer here without a lot of distractions. I couldn't get that fifth star because they sometimes run out of soup or mac & cheese, but other than that...this is a great place to come to. Panera may be nation-wide now, but that has never-ever been a good omen for other chains &, at least based on this joint in Ranson, I'm finding Mondo-Panera may not be a good sign for the dining public either. Just think of McDonald's & assorted other nationally available burger joints, pizza joints, Outbacks & Applebees, etc. etc. ad nauseum. The big fat "safe" aka BLAND middle is what coast-to-coast corporate foodie companies aim for, & Panera has gotten there. What a loss. Ranson's Panera reflects this change big-time. And I am very sorry to say this, b/c I liked Panera's original idea as well as its original flavors. What used to be a very fresh, even unique way of making various simple sandwich combos, for instance, is now lost: alllll gone. A prime example is the Panera Napa Chicken Salad sandwich. Initially it was bursting w/big chicken chunks, plump & super-fresh red grapes, & an absolutely exquisite "mystery flavor" we never identified. I ordered it every single time, knowing by experience that it would be CONSISTENTLY fabulous. Then, about 6 mo.'s ago the mystery herb (or whatever) was completely gone. Major bummer, but we chalked it up to an off-night: they're human too, right? ...So 2 days ago we stopped in for the 1st time in another 6 mo.'s. The chicken salad was consistently DEAD on the plate: lifeless, small portions, & nothing original about any aspect of it, include. flavor.. Same w/a "new!"-touted Avocado Melt: 1st time we had it -- spectacular. Next 2 cent times: so bland & middle-brow it was barely finishable. Topping it all off were the endlessly dirty conditions of this Panera's. Chunks of meat scattered all over (!) the dining area's carpeting; not a single table wiped off; food all over the seats in every single booth I checked. And this was @ 3PM: no excuse for being just a post-lunch-crowd mess, It was flat out disgusting. Panera, you've joined the crowd: you're now 1 more food-chain to avoid. read more

Food barely had any cheese on the soup and no dressing on the salad. Two jerk managers were disciplining (for at least a half hour now, it's still going on) a worker. She's trying to defend herself and they are being ridiculous. We don't come here for the drama. I'm sick of it, She deserves better. The worst thing is they were talking about her before they called her over for over 45 minutes. the way they talked about her, compared to the way they talked about other employees, was mean. They don't like her, it's evident. I'm sorry, but give your employees some dignity. Who wants to eat here anymore or work here listening to that. They should be reprimanded - bad management. The best thing about Panera in Ranson , WV is the staff. They are welcoming and very customer friendly. I have never been disappointed in the service, and I go there often. Panera food is good, though basic, and one should not expect gourmet production in what is essentially a semi-fast food establishment. When I travel, I look for Panera, because you can always count on a decent, uncomplicated meal, usually in a clean environment. One reviewer complained that they could get a lot more food for the money at Cracker Barrel. Walking out overstuffed isn't what Panera is about. Very disappointed..the bathrooms were disgusting. All of the tables and floors were dirty, trash cans and dish containers filled. Asked for someone to clean a table for my family, she did a horrible job and was rude. Then my sons macaroni and cheese was cold. I asked if they could heat it up not because it wasn't hot enough..it was cold. They said for me to do it at the microwave self service station. We paid $40 for our dinner and it was terrible. Unfortunately, Jefferson county residents have few decent food options which is why I found myself at Panera yet again. This time we opted to try the Rapid Pick-Up service. Should have treated the pick up like the drive thru service at any fast food establishment and thoroughly checked the order. We did not and guess what...? You got it. No dressing for either salad and the Thai chopped was missing the main ingredient - CHICKEN. It is too bad that each of the last few times we have gone to this particular location we have had nothing but 2 star service and quality. When will upper management open their eyes if this problem persists at this particular location? Would I recommend this particular location? No, I would not nor would my wife. Changing my review, as this place has started to go downhill. The food is ok, but they appear to be unorganized. There are rarely enough people to take the orders and th food takes about twice as long to come out as before, plus the food is presented in a somewhat sloppy manner. An example is that the bread is not centered on the sandwich, which is not difficult. The positives are that the coffee is still fresh, and bakery items are wonderful. read more

I recently visited this Panera Bread, and had a great experience. I was greeted by a Panera Bread employee who was smiling and asked how I was. I ordered my meal. The woman at the counter answered my questions and met my needs. It didn't take long for my food. I saw employees working to make sure the place was kept clean. I have never posted a review but I just had to this time. We go to this Panera every week. 60% of the time what we order for pickup is unavailable but I am never notified even though I give them my cell number to notify me about any changes that need to be made. 100% of the time our order is late despite the hour + I give them to fill the order. Twice now we have gotten home with half our order missing. I realize that I should check the order before leaving the restaurant, but because the order is so late, I have to rush out. This time I called to speak to a manager and was on hold for 10 mins. I called back and the poor cashier answered told me shouldn't find the manager. Could that be the issue with this cluster? Consistently good service and great all natural health conscious food. I left there today and when I sat back at my desk realized my sandwich (part of the salad and sandwich order) was not in the bag. While I was frustrated, I am a reasonable person so my expectation was that I get my money back. They credited the full meal, gave me my next meal free, and free pastries. I have had a great experience with Panera Bread so far, except for this visit. I always order the chicken tortellini alfredo and I love it. This is my first time at this Panera Bread, and I ordered my usual. It was absolutely horrible; I couldn't eat more than one bite. It smelled horrible and the chicken didn't even taste like chicken. I have been a long-time customer here and would like to say the customer service has gotten better over the years, but it really hasn't. This week was the last straw. After filling my app order incorrectly (which happens frequently) I went to the counter to ask for the correct bagels and got a few defensive and combative statements from the attendant until she looked more carefully at the receipt I handed her. A couple of days later I had to approach the drink counter after watching countless others enter the restaurant and receive their drinks ahead of me. When I finally convince someone to make my cappuccino, he doesn't make it in a mug, as I'd asked for (and as indicated on my receipt). Small things, maybe, but definitely becoming the norm. The arguing isn't tolerable to me at all. I'll be looking for a new regular place to frequent. Black Dog is much more on the ball and seems to value my business a lot more. read more

The food was amazing with the exception of a pecan roll, it was like a dry biscuit. After taking 2 bites into the roll, i realized it wasn't their usual quality and I just wanted to exchange it. As I approached an already angered employee behind the counter, I politely told her of my issue and she responded with a loud voice, "we don't take returns of half eaten items". She never even asked for my receipt and her only intent was to embarrass me and she did. As I approached my car, my wife asked me why I was visually upset, I told her of my experience and she told me to call the manager. At that time I called the store from the parking lot and spoke with the manager. She tells me at the end of my complaint that it was her that handled the complaint behind the counter and she then stated that all I wanted was free food. I grabbed all the uneaten items in my car and I walked back into the store to return everything and the manager runs out the side door and takes off as she sees me approaching. I called the main number and finally got a hold of someone who apologized for this, offered a gift card of some unknown denomination via email and tells me that i don't have to deal with this store again. I get a message on y phone today from the same lady from the hotline that said that my email bounced back and she told the store manager to replace my item, I am scratching my head. Why doesn't the customer service match the delicious food? I am embarrassed that they represent a local business in my community in Ranson West Virginia. read more
