Livin' the drive thru life. This Panera in Rancho Cordova, is one of the few that have a drive thru. And it's not too far or cumbersome to get to from Highway 50. Easy enough to get to. But the drive thr ordering/pickup window is physically immediate after the right turn. So if you don't angle your car close enough, you'll be stretch armstronging. And it doesn't help if you have TRex arms. I've been stopping by here occasionally throughout the years. Customer service has been great. But the food quality is a hit or miss. On my last visit, the BLT was a dismal representation of a sandwich. It had two thin, short, see thru, microwave type bacon. But they served the bacon ice cold. Interesting Panera choice. The lettuce was an arugula salad mix. Another interesting Panera choice. The tomato slice was super thin. The bread was delicious, but doesn't make up for the lackluster sandwich. We also ordered a half order of Greek salad and half chicken Napa salad sandwich. The salad was chock full of the hard core of inner romaine lettuce. Odd the romaine had the core without the leafy green part as it seemed to be sliced off. Another interesting Panera choice. The chicken Napa is my favorite all time sandwich at Panera. Visited for lunch with a coworker - place was packed - found a booth but a homeless man was in the booth behind us and we couldn't stand the smell - it was so bad we left - I also stopped in early in the am for coffee and not many people were in but the place looked extremely dirty and smelled bad - This location needs a deep cleaning of the entire restaurant and not allowing the homeless to hang out in the back booth area and stink the place up! read more

Cashier informed me they were out of hard boiled eggs, that was fine, but I think the recipe can be improved with cheese! Cobb salad traditionally comes with bleu cheese? The chipotle chicken sandwich was actually not bad, and the ciabatta is crispy with a salty crust. Environment wise, wifi was very slow. I must say that if you place an order two hours prior to close they will most likely be missing an ingredient or be out of what you originally planned on ordering. Unfortunately, this has been my experience countless times. Tonight, about 45 minutes before closing, I drove my two sons through the Panera drive thru for dinner. I attempted to order two grilled cheese sandwiches for one of my sons but they were out of the sour dough bread and offered the tomato basil bread as a replacement. My son declined and asked if we could go through Jimboys drive thru for his dinner. I ordered a small Mac and cheese for my second son and a you pick two meal with a chipotle chicken avocado melt and a strawberry poppyseed salad minus the chicken for myself. When we arrived home and unpacked our dinner, we were extremely disappointed to find that my son's order of mac and cheese was missing all together and my strawberry poppyseed salad had zero strawberries. The only fruit in the salad were a few blueberries, and some pineapple. The norm consists of mandarins, blueberries, pineapple, and strawberries. The salad did have old soggy disintegrating lettuce greens. The salad also had chicken, which I specifically asked for without chicken. The salad went straight into the trash. I tried to call and request a refund but no one answered the phone. I literally just payed $28.80 for a chipotle chicken avocado melt that had two of the smallest slivers of avocado on it and two baguettes which are sides to the original orders placed. I am very upset. Panera, this is absolutely ridiculous. I love the Panera menu but this specific location has messed up my order many times. I would have to say they have messed up my order, including missing part of the order all together at least 6 times in the past 3 years. I do not think I will be returning after this last horrible experience, which is unfortunate because Panera is one of the few fast food places where our whole family enjoys something on the menu. My 6 year old was crying because he was really looking forward to his Panera mac and cheese. I will be driving through another drive through for him after driving through another fast food place for my other son who originally wanted Panera's grilled cheese sandwiches. After a long day we were looking forward to a nice Panera takeout dinner but unfortunately our whole dinner experience was a huge disappointment and let down. read more

I had lunch today with two friends. We ordered three BLTs with basil and a drink each. the total was more than $50.00. We were all surprised at how small the sandwiches were. the tomatoes were paper thin and there was no detectable basil. The sandwiches did not look anything pictured on the menu. I know we have been told inflation is too blame for all of the ills in this country. Businesses have to make adjustments but tomatoes and basil are grown just down the road. have the price of these vegetables increase so much that they to be served paper thin? This Panera bread has been my go-to breakfast stop for 2 years now. I visit this location 2-3 times per week. However, the past few visits I have been told that they do not have any bread baked for customer purchase. I inquired about this today and was told that they are no longer scheduling the baker until lunch time, and they will not have bread in the morning moving forward. Isn't this Panera Bread? Why would you limit a bread purchase to only afternoons? How ironic that you have the word "bread" with your company name, yet limit the bread to certain times of the day. I been working in Rancho for almost a year now and I've been exploring almost every other day for good eats around lunch and after work. I've explored and tried most of the places within good reach from work. There's a huge eatery plaza on Zinfandel that also holds a Lowes and I can't believe out of everything I tried, that I just happened to miss the Panera Bread that is right infront of Lowes! And it holds a drive thru too at that! I'm not too big of a fan of sandwiches n soups like that. But I have ALWAYS been a huge fan of their green Papaya iced tea! OMG it's so good and refreshing! But this time I decided to actually try their menu! Food: So I've tried their Bbq chicken Mac n cheese! That was very good but too bad it was only available for a limited time. Their breakfast sandwich on wheat sourdough is yummmmmy! I always get mine with sausage added as well as the egg n bacon that already comes with it. Also their iced mochas are to DIE for! It's made just right! It doesn't taste cheap if you know what I mean. And their souffles aren't bad either! Very filling, I like the bacon and spinach one very much! Customer service: And last but not least, the staff at this location are very nice! Every single time I have come through drive thru, they have been extremely pleasant! And always all smiles! And that is a HUGE plus for me ALWAYS. I can easily tell you that is the reason why I keep going back. Because it's great breakfast food and wonderful service! From this particular Panera location, I am sadden by the poor customer service. I use this location for a lot of my office lunches. Food is great but customer service has taken a dip for the worse. Bagels sliced uneven to a point of why cut it if you don't slice evenly. #1 ISSUE - NO ONE IS ANSWERING THE PHONE!!!! No email confirmation for large catering order. So I tried to call several times, I wish there was a chat function or something to confirm order. Now I wait patiently to see if they deliver or not. I ordered the new Chicken Bacon Rancher 1/2 sandwich yesterday, and I was extremely disappointed when my sandwich came. I couldn't even see anything between the 2 halves until I opened the bread up. The little bit of chicken was in very small 1/2 inch pieces and there were exactly 9 bits of bacon. I had the dark roast because the light roast was empty. Pretty standard for them. Got the last spinach and bacon souffle and a sausage and cheese bagel. Both were good. The experience has been on par with other locations of this chain. I appreciate the speed of service with not being fast food.
