I have eaten at Panera in other cities so I know what to expect. This location is new and still working out the bugs. If you can run a smart phone please skip the counter! The employees are hard to hear because everyone is so loud and they don't hear what you are ordering. I asked for the Chipotle chicken avocado sandwich and she typed in chicken bacon. She didn't even hear my husband order mac n cheese. She apologized and said she'd been there a long time that day. I got the choose 2 with a cookie for.99¢ and a reg tea my meal was $14.99, a little high even for all natural. Food was good not super. The restaurant was clean and the tables have cool places to set your order buzzer so servers know where to deliver the meal. Only salt and pepper are in to go packets. Don't waste your time!! I love Panera but this location is a joke. I've had them give me the wrong soup, wrong sandwiches, they run out of breakfast items every single time. They ask you to park and take 20 minutes to prep drive thru food. I've given them so many chances bc I love the pick 2 meals but the service and food quality is soooo bad. I'm not a complainer so please don't consider this as such. It's really more of a warning. I have eaten at Panera all over the country. This is unfortunately the worst I have experienced. Let me give you a timeframe: Friday 12/14 at 7 pm so not super late. Their bread and bakery selection is wiped out. No bother. I'm ordering a salad anyway. The girl with the nose ring at the register (they don't wear name tags) is confused when I ask for the sprouted grain roll instead of the baguette. She looks around awkwardly and announces that they have baguettes. Sensing her confusion, I assure her that the baguette will be fine. She types in the order charging me for an extra baguette. I catch this and have her delete it before paying. This is just the beginning. My husband orders a "you pick two" of chicken noodle soup and a steak and cheese sandwich. His soup arrives. No sandwich. A kid with a cast on his wrist delivering the plate says he'll check on it. He comes back with the sammie on another plate. See my photo of the inside. It looks nothing like the poster up front as there are 2 measly pieces of meat. Half of the onions are on the plate. It's pathetic. To top it off, the soup was served cold. My husband takes it to the counter and is told that if he wants it hotter, he can microwave it! Unbelievable. For the record, my salad was fresh and tasty. This Panera is a joke. I keep coming back because I love Panera and try to overlook the mistakes of the people working there but today was it, we won't be back. They never give you the correct items in your order but this morning I did the rapid pickup for a dozen bagels and a couple souffles. Got in my truck and driver over. Sat and waited for half an hour before I finally asked where my stuff was. The manager told me his bakers didn't bake any of the bagels I ordered this morning (wtf?) and that they were out of souffles. So they literally had none of what I ordered. WHY can't this Panera ever get an order right? 95% of the time, we have to send it back. There's a sign on the wall that says if your order's not correct they'll give you a free treat from the bakery, but if you ask about it, the staff give you a blank look like they've never heard of that before. I went through the drive thru and ordered a sesame bagel with two honey walnut cream cheeses. The girl taking my order said "Ummmm I don't think we have that. Does that complete your order?" I said "so are you going to check? Just in case I need to pick something else?" She said "oh well I think we have it. Please pull forward." So when I finally get to the drive thru window the manager says "All we have left are French toast bagels. So I'm sorry I don't have a sesame bagel for you." I'm not sure who's in charge of training, but knowing what you have is kind of important for working at a restaurant especially if you're at the drive through. They have hired people that hardly speak English which makes ordering very difficult. I love Panera so much :( but I officially broke up with the Midland location a few months ago. After several wrong orders and dried out, hard food, I just can't anymore. They are always out of pastries. You have to order about 5 different ones until they have one that you want. When I finally picked a pastry they had, a chocolate chip cookie, I took it back to my table and realized it was hard as a rock. I took it back and said "I'm sorry but this is hard as a rock, could I get something else?" The cashier said "Oh my gosh I KNOW RIGHT." Then why did she serve it to me? Lol. I got a pumpkin muffin but threw it away because it was hard too. Was ordering all the time from Panera Bread. Loved the edamame bowl that they use to offer. Went on to their menu the following week and all the bowls changed. They all now have brown ice in them. My family and I came to Panera to get a coffee and scone. We waited in line for over 10 minutes when there was only 2 customers in front of us. When we went to choose our scones, there were FLIES all over them. When we got to place our order, we asked if thy had any fresh scones in the back because of the flies, the cashier girl rolled her eyes and strolled to the back only to tell us there was nothing back there. Many many employees were just standing around and goofing off while we sat for 15 minutes waiting for 2 lattes (we did not order the scones). Beware: Manager and staff at this location have no idea what ingredients are in their products and will make your food wrong. We had already verified ingredients from the Panera corporate webpage. Local store contradicted. Called corporate and they said manager should have offered me a black binder that details all ingredients. Instead the lady taking our order and the supervisor they called over said none of their products met criteria and argued with us holding up the post-church rush hour line. They did not offer the black binder as corporate said they should. After ordering a salad with no cheese and no chicken, it arrived with heaping amounts of chicken. How hard is it to make a PB&J sandwich and a salad to order? The manager also gave us attitude at the table when we asked him to fix our order. After making a corporate complaint, the negative feedback is being channeled for manager education and retraining. The matter was not handled well, resulting in holding up a line during peak hours, lost profit by having to remake an order, and the loss of a potential repeat customer's business. Panera would do better to ensure that corporate standards for making meals align with local production standards. They should not advertise products as free from certain ingredients when they don't intend to follow through at the actual stores selling those products. read more
