Sometimes Panera is okay and sometimes not. This restaurant chain not only penny pinches on everything, they also trick you with their rewards program. Free bagel with the rewards card, does not get you complementary cream cheese with it. You have to pay an extra $1.39 for a small container of cream cheese (only enough to slather on one bagel). Also, the new cheese sandwich just looks so damn pathetic. I could have made my own cheese sandwich at home at 1/4th of the cost. read more

I have given chance after chance. Granted management has always been apologetic and tried to fix mistakes with my order, which there is always an issue with a delivery order. From charging me for a whole sandwich and delivering half of one, to delivering a spinach sandwich instead of the Napa Chicken Sandwich. I am no longer going to be returning as I was just charged a $6 delivery fee on a $10 order for macaroni and cheeses. I like the food but the service is far below par. The staff is friendly and I like the soups. I don't know if i'm just unlucky but the past three times I have ordered from there they have messed up my order or forgotten to give me a part of my meal. Just ordered delivery and they didn't give me my bread with my soup. One time I did take out from there I went back to get my order fixed and they proceeded to mess it up again. If I could give 0 stars I would. This is by far the worst Panera I've ever been to, every time I go something gets messed up with my order. A couple months ago I ordered a Modern Greek Salad and the cashier even read it back as that but I received a regular Greek instead, I checked the receipt and he had rang it up as a regular Greek even though he said Modern Greek. I took this order to go so I didn't realize it until it was too late. Then last night I ordered chicken noodle soup with bread and extra bread because I've been sick for 2 days. I placed the order for rapid pickup around 6:30 to be picked up by my boyfriend at 8. Apparently they ran out of the French baguette in that time and decided that 2 slices of xl sourdough was decent enough EVEN THOUGH I PAID 99 CENTS FOR THE EXTRA SIDE OF BREAD. Also received no silverware or napkins. Im not one to complain, but I also work at a Panera in Overland Park and I KNOW that this one can be better. The employees have no sense of what good customer service is because they don't care, they just show up to get a pay check. The redesign and expansion at this location was much needed and you can actually find a place to sit at lunch. Parking might be a different story though. Multiple registers keep the line moving and the staff here hustles their butts off. I'm a fan of Panera due to the quality of the food and the clear and conspicuous calorie information. I absolutely love knowing what is or is not a calorie bomb. Yes, it costs more here than the fast food places with the catchy drive throughs, but I like the quality. At this location they created a variety of seating for large groups, small groups and individuals. At slow times it feels like a local coffeeshop with the big individual chairs and the unlimited refills on the coffee. During lunch you'll still have problems of where to park and the increased capacity makes the place even more busy, but if you are looking for a good quality lunch or dinner, Panera is a great choice. Gluten intolerant people and those on a low-carb diet should note Panera's not so "hidden" power menu. Ask about it and you'll avoid the bread and keep the meat and veggies. read more

I have never been to a Panera where bagels weren't available at all times during the day. Additionally, my wife ordered yogurt and they said they don't serve yogurt after 11 am... Really? You can't open the refrigerator behind you and grab some yogurt. Finally, my son's sandwich came with the wrong bread. Bathrooms weren't clean either. Skip this location. read more

I usually don't frequent chain eateries, but I left work late and didn't want to cook. Besides I'd seen a Panera commercial the day prior and was craving a sandwich. Terrible choice. I arrived about 615p on Sunday evening. Ordered a turkey avocado BLT for me and a turkey bravo no tomato for my husband. Two bags of chips and one drink. To go. Slowest service, but I should say the place was packed with sorority kids in yoga pants and house shoes. Approximately 35 minutes later tired and frustrated I made my way home. My husband was hungry and immediately bento unwrap sandwiches into plates. I told him my order his was turkey no tomatoes. Well my sandwich though quite tiny was prepared properly, however his was not the correct order. I'm not sure the meat, definitely not turkey, no bacon . Tons of red onion and no cheese. Today was an extremely disappointing day for lunch at Panera. We ordered 3 pick 2s. 2 sodas, a hot tea, and 3 bakery items. Two of our sandwiches were wrong, one of the soups were wrong, all 3 of the bakery items were hard and stale, and the hot tea, was barely room temperature. I complained about the sandwiches and soups and got them replaced with correct items. I then complained about the bakery items, and they offered to replace them, but stated that they would all have the same "texture". I've been to panera bread many times, and typically the bakery items are soft and yummy.... I mentioned that the hot tea was room temp,and was pointed into the direction of the microwave... The food sucked, the customer service sucked, the dining area was dirty and sucked, the only "ok" thing was the soups. I am very unhappy that their solution to hard stale baked goods, was to offer me MORE hard stale baked goods!! read more

This is truly the worst Panera in the country. I am subscribed to the unlimited sip club so that I can go to Panera everyday and get a drink. This specific location has been out of almost every drink except for a few types of sodas for at least a week. Instead of wasting gas and driving to the store today I decided to call the location and ask if they were back in stock of the drinks I wanted. The staff member on the phone told me they had them this morning but were already sold out again and won't have more until the truck comes to bring another shipment. They also don't tell you ahead of time if a sandwich has ingredients on it that are out of stock, so you end up wasting money on a sandwich with two ingredients when there are supposed to be about six. Why is forecasting so hard for these people to figure out? Don't go here, you're better off going to McCallister's or Jason's Deli instead. read more

I struggle with writing a bad review but this is the 3rd bad experience I've had at Panera in Lawrence. You may ask why I keep going back and to that I can only say I like their food. However, I won't be going back to Lawrence Panera after today. I order from my phone and did rapid pick up. Today was the final straw when I picked up my order and half of it was missing. This is my favorite fast casual cafe. The thing I love about Panera is they have meals for all times of day. I love their coffee with bagels and spreads (my favorite is French toast bagel & honey walnut spread) for breakfast. For lunch I really like their salads and sandwiches. For dinner the soups and broth bowls are really good! Panera always had great wifi (sometimes a one hour limit) and plenty of tables and space to work from. Apparently panera messing up orders is a pattern! About 50% of the time my order gets messed up at Panera regardless of location and this has happened in 3 states now! I ordered cheese and broccoli soup in a bread bowl with a side of baguette. I picked it up via quick pick up, felt the bag to make sure I'd been given a bread bowl (this has been wrong before) and headed home. Only to find out the baguette was missing! I called and calmly told them what had happened, and she immediately got my info to send me a gift card in the mail for a free meal. I would have been willing to accept a free dessert or something smaller given that it was only the side that was messed up, so I was happy with the gift card. She also apologized which I appreciated. I will try this place again but I will probably actually look inside the bag to make sure it's the right thing. read more

I do enjoy coming here for breakfast but I only ever get a coffee and a pastry. For lunch today, it was bad. My son chicken noodle soup didn't have any veggies, noodles, or chicken. It was just warm chicken broth. The chicken wonton broth I got was cold and very unappetizing. Like I have read on here the staff is rude, and they just want to get rid of you as soon as possible. If I could give this location zero stars I would. I have to admit Panera has always been one of my favorite go to quick dinner places when I'm in a rush. So when I moved to Lawrence I was happy to find out they had one. Unfortunately I will never return. The first time they left out the bread on both meals I ordered for pick up. Honest mistake, I know things happen. The second time for pick up they left out one of the salads and my husband was already on his way to Kansas City by the time he reaches down in his bag. We called to complain and they offered to send us a gift card since we couldn't come back to get the missing item. Needless to say it has been a month and still nothing. I get mistakes happen but it's a waste to pay for items I never receive and then be lied to by a manager about being compensated. Guess Panera just lost a loyal customer. read more

I come here because the bagels are better than einstein bagels but the last few times every order has been messed up. This is hands-down one of the worst experiences I've ever had that Panera. They were out of iced tea as well as ice. Not sure how you can run out of ice when they have a giant ice maker in the back house. Also I ordered an iced caramel latte with whip cream. I received an iced coffee with no whip cream and no flavor. Unfortunately this isn't surprising coming from the location that I was at, I guess I should have known better. I am currently having lunch at Panera Bread Company. I ordered a half a sandwich and a bowl of FRENCH onion soup that I used to love at Panera. What came out was a tepid brown cloudy broth where some dehydrated onions were soaking themselves. Too keep the dehydrated onions happy a few shreds of a white unknown cheese was tossed in. A few croutons on top to keep order and was sadly offered up. I told the young ignorant, culturally unaware , young woman behind the pick up window that her soup offering was not French Onion Soup! She looked at me with a wilting glare and bothered to inform me, in case I was unaware of better cuisine, that this WAS French Onion Soup. She saw that this response surprised and angered me. She offered to get a manager. He was not insulting or impudent as the young girl was, but he touted the corporate line that this was how it was made. Panera Bread was great when they first came into business. But with growth came greed and now the product that once so good ........... SUCKS!!!! I love Panera. Go there several times a week and most know my orders by now. Being part of the Panera rewards program is great as i get lots of free stuff :-) Their paninis are great as are the soups in the bread bowls. Their bottomless fresh brewed iced tea with their lemonade makes a great Arnold Palmer. The only problem that I have with Panera is that I have eaten their so much I am burnt out on it! read more

This Panera is consistently the worst Panera I've ever been to. I'm usually very considerate of food workers and understand that food orders can get backed up. However, there have been so many times I've been in this Panera when nobody has been in front of me and I've ordered a single sandwich, and it's taken 25+ minutes to get my food. They always say "Sorry for the wait" but I can see the workers behind the counter talking and moving very slow. This morning I waited 20 minutes for a breakfast sandwich when it wasn't busy at all. They put out a lukewarm sandwich, and I said that I had ordered it with avocado. The worker then cut up an avocado, put four slices in a cup, and gave it to me to put on my sandwich myself. I would hate to stop coming here because I'm a fan of Panera, but the service here is just terrible. read more
