    Nasty lettuce...

Dined @ Panera in Spanish Springs yesterday... UGH so disappointed!! I should've checked their Yelp rating (2.5) - definitely wouldn't have wasted my money! Ordered the "strawberry chix caprese" and Greek salads. I thought Panera claimed to be this healthy restaurant? The caprese salad had LUNCH MEAT for the chix... gross! And it looked slimy!! And the lettuce in the Greek salad was disgusting. The restaurant was mostly clean and the staff were accommodating. It also took quite a while for the salads to be made. I remember why I stopped going. Sooo very sad - used to be a favorite restaurant for me!!

Big business meeting, where people spent thousands to get there, and I ordered coffee and some pastries from Panera. I get a call 10 minutes before the meeting that the pick up person forgot to take the coffee. me: WHAT? So you are going to send her back right? Lady Lake Panera - "Well, you have to call the delivery company" me: "Huh? I ordered from you." After some major loud talking about how unhappy I was she said, "I'll try." What? Me: "What?" We all walked over to a coffee shop and I bought. Oh, the coffee did show up. And this was a legal meeting that was being recorded and transcribed. The coffee made the transcript. See attached.

    Cranberry muffin

I like this location (Spanish Springs) much better than the one at Sumter Landing. They always have cranberry muffins. Sumter Landing is always out. The service and management is vastly better, too. The crew actually spends some time cleaning the tables. With respect to the atmosphere, it's typical. All in all, it's a decent place to sit for awhile.

Burned and curdled "creamy tomato" soup.

Really pricy. The coffee is not as good as Dunkin donuts. I have found yesterday's pastries on top and in the front of the rack.

Our favorite chicken salads were Fancy Nancy (grapes, pecans, and apples), Fruity Fran (grapes, apples, and pineapple), and Dixie Chick (minced onion). You can sample them before ordering, which is great considering the wide and unique variety offered. We found the scoops best for really tasting the flavor profile of the chicken salad. Meals come with as many wheat club crackers as you need, a pickle, and a small frosted sugar cookie. Our favorite side dish was the grape salad. Coated in a creamy dairy dressing and topped with brown sugar and crushed pecans, the grape salad is an amazing dessert or sweet accompaniment. There is plenty of indoor seating, some outdoor seating, restrooms, open parking, and friendly staff at the Lady Lake/The Villages location. A must-try Southern chain for those who enjoy chicken salad.

I opted for the 2 scoop and 1 side meal. I chose the classic for 1 scoop and bacon ranch for my second scoop, plus the loaded baked potato cup of soup. The service was quick and friendly and the dining room was packed! It was also customer appreciation day so we got a free scoop of Classic to take home.

The potatoes had that perfect golden crisp, the eggs were cooked just right, and every bite somehow managed to be rich, savory, and balanced all at once. It is the kind of dish where you keep taking "one more bite" until suddenly it is gone and you are mildly offended about it. The Barbacoa Chilaquiles came in strong with bold flavor and just the right amount of attitude. Saucy, layered, and satisfying without turning into a soggy mess, which is honestly rare. The Elevated Egg Sandwich lived up to its name. Clean, fresh, and put together in a way that makes you feel like you made a responsible life choice while still enjoying it. Hardwood smoked bacon did what bacon should do. Crispy, flavorful, no complaints. And the Project Sunrise coffee was smooth, easy, and exactly what you want backing up a meal like this. Everything felt intentional, balanced, and actually worth the price. This is the kind of brunch that makes you forget all the mediocre ones. Five stars without hesitation. Just note the quality of food they use, and enjoy.

Every member of the staff, from the chefs to the cashier, the shake maker, and even the person who keeps the restaurant spotless, treats us like family. They know us by name and have our order ready before we even ask. Over the months, they've gotten to know us personally. They know we used to live in Ocala, that we now live in The Villages, what we do for a living, and even that my father-in-law is a missionary bush pilot in Bolivia. Those conversations and genuine friendships mean more than they probably realize. It's rare to find a restaurant where the food is consistently good and the customer service is so warm and personal. We don't just come back because of the sandwiches--we come back because of the people. Thank you, Pot Belly, for making us feel welcome every single day.
