They are quality flowers. I usually get red roses, and they have long, strong stems, strong petals, smell incredible, and are just giant and gorgeous. I wanted to send my mother-in-law flowers for her birthday, so I picked this florist as they are…read morelocated close to her home and the reviews were good. I ordered online and asked for the flowers to be delivered before noon, as I knew my mother-in-law would be leaving in the early afternoon. When 1:00 came around, I emailed the florist and asked if the arrangement had been sent out, and got a response full of excuses about how it takes longer to package the flowers in -30 weather. Meanwhile, the delivery driver got to my mother-in-law's building half an hour after she had left, somehow got into the secure building, and then called her as he was leaving to inform her that he had left the flowers on the floor outside her apartment. When she told him that was unacceptable because she wouldn't be back for two days, he told her "you're welcome" and hung up on her. She called the shop and spoke to the owner (Stephen, apparently) and he assured her that the driver would retrieve the flowers and they would be placed in the refrigerator in the shop and re-delivered when she was home in two days. When she got home, the flowers were still sitting in her hallway and were half-dead. Also, when she asked why the flowers hadn't been delivered in the morning, she was told that I should have called if I wanted them delivered at a specific time. There is no mention of this on the website. In summary, don't expect honesty, good manners or any sort of customer service from this florist. If you order online, don't bother filling in the "delivery instructions" box because they will not read it. The flowers themselves seem to have been decent quality when they were fresh, it's hard to tell.

There they were in all their glory peaking out in such sensual ways. So many nice colors and patterns to choose from, they are enticing and a bit seductive. Gil and her workers claimed they were the most unique flower that they ever came across simply because with they survive the best with the least attention; in fact one of the woman went as far to say that her bachelor son who has no time or green thumb has the most beautiful orchid flowering in his home and it has lasted for years. Where do I get the flowers from!? I partook of Yelp, Canadian style of course, and spied the barren reviews. Until I saw Carrie P's talk of " "funkiest" floral arrangements". The thing is, all these other flower shops web sites, were... well bland. Boring. Cookie cutter. Nothing brought my attention and made me want to say, "Yes! Yes! I want to go here!" Well... guess what? Purple Orchid's website blew me away. So unique, so different, so perfect. I knew I had found the one. I called up the store the day before my girlfriend was to arrive at the hotel, hoping they could do something. The woman couldn't have been nicer. Trying to get an idea of exactly what I wanted: colors, flowers, any specifics I wanted and she could think of, I was excited, but what would the recipient think of them? I eagerly awaited a phone call the next day, a text, email... anything! At one point I just needed a nap. I curled up and when I woke up forty minutes later, I had my answer. This is a nice florist with adequate selection....and they have a dread-locked employee! C'mon they deserve props for that---I mean we're in the middle of small town Canada, not California or Jamaica! ;)
