Have dined at this restaurant many times, but mostly take out. Took the wife for dinner last night 05/03/2019). took a little time to order, after 20 minutes, I got my food. I asked the server where my wife's dinner was, he said, "it will be right out". waited another 10 minutes, no food. I asked the server to take my food back, and give me my check. With the exception of the appetizers, the food was absolutely TERRIBLE. I'm not talking, passable but it's Alpine so give them a break, I'm talking unrecognizable as the food that we ordered. The egg rolls were heavy on the ginger, but I like ginger so.... We moved to alpine two weeks ago and have just started exploring the local eateries. This was one of our first for dinner. I walked in, asked for a menu, and started ordering our standard Chinese favorites: Beef and Broccoli, Orange Chicken, Kung Pao Shrimp (extra spicy), and fried rice. Calamari and Egg Rolls were the appetizers. There was no orange, and what appeared to be very little chicken in the orange chicken. Flavorless Kung Pao Shrimp. Heat does not equal flavor....but the heat was definitely ramped up with what appeared to be a hot chili paste because everything was screaming red. The beef in the beef and broccoli was nice and tender, but again, no spice/flavor was really recognizable. My s/o complained about the same things, along with the lack of shrimp in the kung pao shrimp, he suggested they rename it to kung pao vegetables with a few shrimp. The wait staff was friendly, and I thought I was going to score a big hit because this place was packed with locals, including the cops. Cheap and good you would think on a Sunday late afternoon/early evening, but no. The prices were right up there with a good, decent chinese place, without the good and without the decent. Seriously the best sushi I have had in San Diego. The fish is ALWAYS fresh, the service is awesome and Trinity is always friendly and ready to make any roll you like. I love the Leave it to the Chef option because she always comes up with some amazing combinations that you would never think of. If you like sushi or Chinese food, this is the restaurant to go to. I got the sashimi combo which was fresh and fair price, however the lobster roll wasn't good. I expected lobster piled on top of a roll, but this had some purée on top and did not taste fresh. The outstanding customer service and delicious menu speak for themselves. The servers are very friendly, hospitable, fast, and efficient. The owner, Trinity, is amazing - makes it a point to greet you and to ensure your dining experience is a great one. The variety of food alone begs us to come back over and over again. I've been here a few times now and the experience is the same every time. First off, come on panda machi how can you even serve the rice you serve. I have tried fried and sticky white rice , both ways have been undercooked 3 times in a row. My gf ordered a bowl of her own as well. Order came out in about 15 min in this order, wontons and Mongolian beef. About 5 minutes later my roll come out and about 8 min after that my gf's food comes out. If you are at all a gentleman you don't eat till your gf has her meal. So we ate the wontons together but they go fast. I had to wait till my food was cold before I actually got to eat it. Have some class panda machi, bring the ladies plate first. The only reason this place gets a 2 star is because the food other than the rice is actually very good. I probably won't be back because the negative outweighs the positive to me. read more

I am not sure how this place has 5 star reviews...other than the fact that it is the only Chinese restaurant in our little community. The food is awful. I have tried to give this place a chance to redeem itself by returning not once, but two more times. Each time we order food & always end up tossing it. We ate in the restaurant once and our server was incredibly slow, and rude. I could handle her being slow because they were short staffed for their dinner crowd, but the attitude was completely uncalled for. My husband ordered the honey walnut chicken and it was (to no one's shock) disgusting. He told the server and she just gave him a sarcastic "sorry" and walked away, didn't remove the entree from our bill or even offer to do so. She also never returned to our table. I had to go to the counter to ask for our check so that we could pay and leave. Their food is so incredibly awful. The chicken tasted old the next time we ordered from here. It was so bad we didn't even want to feed it to our dogs! Regardless, we have learned that the third time is not the charm and when we are craving Asian cuisine we will be traveling a little farther to get it from now on. The owner was extremely rude after I had complaint about my Rolls not tasting right, mind you I come here at least once or twice a week whether its dining in or ordering out. She was talking to me and asking quesions as if I was lying. This place is amazing . I've been here many times with family or somtimes alone . I always order the orange chicken which is always cooked to perfection everytime . The assorted rice and noodles are also always tasty and never let me down . The sushi is also good . I usually get the Phoenix roll which is my favorite . I tried a few others rolls lately but I forgot the names of them . Alot of good choices with good taste . The only negative would be the service . After your drink is served the first time they don't come to check on you after. They'll bring the food and that's it, so you have to flag them down to get refills or if you have questions . Alpine is a smaller community and as such this is the only Chinese/Asian fusion restaurant in town. The cream cheese wantons are delicious, hand rolled spicy tuna rolls are great, as well as the salmon.
