We walked every aisle; they have good products on display. I picked up a sturdy, colorful medicine container and my friend found an umbrella, ramekins, salt and pepper jars at an affordable price. I saw some good silver wares that I am planning to come back to buy (if they will still be there). The aisles are pretty neat, shelves are stocked, and employees are welcoming. Parking is plenty and free. Only thing to note: I didn't see a public restroom though. It was a good shopping trip.

Dollar King is like a bootleg "Dollar Tree", but this place has more interesting stuff. They are a discount store that has Arts & Crafts, Party Supplies, Kitchen Accessories, Electrical Gadgets, Office Supplies and more.... I was pleasantly surprised. I personally dig the spice section. Lots of Goya and Sadaf brands spices. I walked outta here with a bunch of spices for my pantry, kids party supplies; and I did find that butcher's or kitchen twine I originally came for, lol. My only complaint is - they have a good size parking lot in back but to get in, you go down a long driveway that won't fit one car in each direction. So if you're going in and out and someone comes the other way, someone has to back up to let the other go in/out. If some idiot comes flying in the other direction, make sure you have your insurance card handy.

The merchandise doesn't seem to have changed though the shop name and sign have changed. Most of the shop has kitchen/housewares, including tea kettles, mugs, glasses, canisters, cutting boards, things that looked like crystal but were to cheap to be crystal, serving trays, etc. There were lots of vases. You can get hookahs too. Prices were cheap but not dollar store cheap. For example, you could get three clear drinking glasses for $1.99. I can't say that the designs appealed to me but I'm not the target market.

Every Thursday (which is when Art gets in his pallets of new inventory), she says to me "Happy Smarty's Day!" You just never know what you are going to find here. We have gotten the following items in the past year or two: a brand new Samsung dishwasher (a model that had only been on the market for five months, new in the box for over $700 off retail price!), a Ninja Creamy ice cream machine, Instant Pot lid that turns it into an air fryer, Dyson and Shark vacuum cleaners for hundreds off list price, deck boxes and hose reels for the backyard, a new microwave, an amazing array of plastic storage bins in all sizes for the garage/storage locker...and that's just off the top of my head! Going to Smarty's is our weekly treasure hunt. More than once, my daughter has bemoaned that she bought something elsewhere only to find it later at Smarty's for a fraction of the price. On the rare occasion that something we bought ended up damaged after we opened the box (which does happen from time to time, given the nature of the business of buying pallets of stuff from Amazon, Target, Walmart, etc.), Art has always made good and given us a full refund. Wow... what a variety of goods: Halloween decorations, books, dorm supplies, hair accessories, costume jewelry, headphones, pet supplies, clothing, and Hello Kitty items such as socks, ukulele, key chains, water bottles, and rubber duckies dressed in Sanrio character costumes! They make it clear that no one can open the boxes on the tables and even have signs on the wall. However, it is not enforced, and every box is open. People rip these Amazon boxes to see inside and then lose the pieces. Therefore, that item is now useless. The worst part is that it is probably still on that table somewhere, but if you want that missing piece, you must now look for it. No one will do that, so therefore now it is just trash that sits there. 2. They sell a lot of stuff that is broken or reboxed and retaped, so be careful with that. Just because it's taped up does not mean it's never been opened. These items are items that have been returned for a reason. Yes, there are great items in the tables, but also defective ones. I bought a fan I thought was great because it was on sale for 4 dollars. When I opened it, it was dusty and made a nasty sound that hurt my ears. 3. Expired. You will find lots of food here, but it never sells. Why? Because it's expired. Sometimes you can't even see unless you open the boxes, which is why everyone opens these boxes, but you're not supposed to, but then you never know what's really inside. It's madness and confusing. Last. Not everything is bound by the overall price rule. There's stuff on the wall that's the good stuff that they won't sell at the table price but at regular retail prices, even if it came from the same shipments as everything else. Oh, there's a fridge in this shipment. Well, let's put it on the wall and sell it for half the market price instead of the $4 Monday that it's advertised for. Kind of defeats the purpose. So yeah, many flaws here; be cautious in what you buy. Does this mean there's no good stuff here? Hell, yeah, there is. I bought a lot of great stuff here, but with many great items, there are multiple bad ones, so just check your stuff. At the end of the day, you are getting a deal out of it regardless, right?

Once inside, the store felt cramped, with a very low ceiling and narrow aisles. Some of the items were also difficult to find, and the tight aisles could definitely be uncomfortable for anyone who is claustrophobic. On the plus side, they do have public restrooms, which was convenient.
