The batter on the shrimp however did fall off very easily and wasn't as crispy as I would have liked it to be. Every Panda Express in San Diego fails to consistently provide good food and customer service. They disregard food safety while prioritizing a fast pace, while also failing to consistently handle in person and online order rushes. The management has shown an inability to properly supervise staff members to minimize these issues overtime, while also being inappropriately aggressive and demeaning to their staff. At least that's the perception assuming the authority behind the counter are the owners as they seem to have everything in good control with the employees almost stricken with fear. Dear Panda Express Team, I'm a loyal customer of Panda Express and usually purchase food from your restaurants about 3-4 times a week. I love the food--it's always delicious--but I've noticed a frustrating issue at this particular location. The portion sizes here are significantly smaller compared to other Panda Express restaurants. One employee in particular, a Chinese man who often serves the teriyaki chicken, is extremely stingy with portions. Watching him cut the teriyaki chicken honestly makes me frustrated. If I order a double teriyaki, the amount he serves is barely equal to a single entrée at other locations. It's really disappointing, and it feels unfair as a paying customer. Since this location is the most convenient for me, I keep coming back, but whenever I see him serving, I already know I'll be getting about half the food I would at any other Panda Express. I walked in for a pickup that I placed online and was not greeted nor was it clear if my food was ready or if it was where I should pick it up at. I waited in the line that moved incredibly slowly despite there being more employees than there were customers. My partner ordered a bowl with chow mein and the Beyond orange chicken, and the cream cheese Rangoons. I ordered a plate with half chow mein and half fried rice, with regular orange chicken and the Beyond orange chicken as well. The ladies were very generous and loaded up our dishes with food, and even gave us a couple extra Rangoons. We were in and out quickly, and enjoyed the hot food as soon as we got home. You can eat here several times a month and get different combinations to keep it from getting stale. Orange flavored chicken is good. My usual go to item. Beijing beef is decent. Depends on how long it has been sitting on the tray. At busier locations, the food turns over faster so the food is a little fresher. I like the honey walnut shrimp. Honestly, this Panda Express frustrates me so much. I only come here because it's close to my gym, and I can grab a quick protein bowl for dinner. Anytime I come here it's a hit or miss. Mostly a mess! I'm not sure if I'm just coming at the worst times, but they're never seems to be enough staff on the line to help the line get through smoothly. The portion control is horrible. The entire stuff is all over the place, and you never really get a consistent amount of food. It's the right amount sometimes it's very low. Today employee denied a sample to a customer. When just last week I asked for a sample when they gave me one. I was not sure what that was about. They seem to always be running low on food, which I guess for near dinner time it might be normal. Also, when they do have enough staff on the line to take care of you, they just rush you through the line, messing up your order. And not to mention the online order that always hold back the entire line, or they confuse your order with their online order... Just a mess. The dining area was very clean (as it should be if you are just opening) and behind the counter was neat and organized. Not all the food choices were prepared but two of my favorites were ready to order. I ordered the two item plate: orange chicken and the beef and broccoli with a mix or noodles and fried rice ($6.80). The orange chicken was tender but with the beef and broccoli I received more broccoli than beef. The noodles and rice were good. They have a long food counter and I counted about 14-16 food trays so I am interested in what other choices they offer.
