We all got drinks, for 5 people: it was 165, which from my experience is pretty good. The restaurant had a very cool vibe with a colorful bar area, and bamboo to separate the hibachi area from the dining area where people ordered from the kitchen. It was fun, tasty, and the chef was really funny. Would go again :)

I didn't expect that my travel partners would be in the mood for sushi while staying in Sheboygan -…read morebut what can I say? ...the palate wants what it wants. The meal started on shaky ground with the tuna tataki. Dry and somewhat fishy, I had no desire to have more than one piece. The ponzu sauce also did not have the flavorful, citrusy tartness that could have saved this dish. Thankfully, things did get better. The Spanish grasshopper roll was flavorful, much more fresh tasting, and had a nice level of heat. The dragon roll and the crazy roll were also decent but not amazing. Thankfully, the tataki set the bar pretty low for everything else. Service was also decent in that our server was friendly but somewhat forgetful and main courses didn't quite arrive together leaving some to stare at their food while others waited for theirs. This was not a major issue, though, and only helps to explain why this was just an average experience. One final note was how unusually dark the restaurant was with very dark paint-chipped walls. Additionally, the walk to the restrooms took me past a small graveyard of broken and unused chairs. The spiral bound menus were all in various levels of disrepair. The only reason I mention these things is because there's a certain level of attention to small details that can make or break my level of comfort in eating sushi at any particular restaurant. Pricing was shockingly inexpensive for the amount of food. Unsurprisingly, a service charge was added since our group was large - but I was shocked that it was only 15% - which I have never seen. We all made sure to add to the gratuity reflective of our appreciation for the hard work of our server. Overall, not fantastic - but definitely not the worst sushi place I have been. Not sure I have a strong desire to give this one another try, though.

In addition to the buffet, we had the option of made-to-order eggs benedict, omelets, and Prime Rib. We each ordered a benedict, which came as a single serving, and we shared a dish of Prime Rib, which came as two 3-4oz slices. Everything was delicious and well-prepared, and our server was great! The Wisconsin Room is one of many beautifully appointed rooms in the American Club, and I highly recommend the experience of dining!

Food: The menu offers a nice selection of starters, à la carte options, and full dinners. The ability to add a wide assortment of sides is a great way to customize a meal to fit your tastes. We started with a couple of specialty cocktails, the Whistle Stop Old Fashioned and the Hemingway Daiquiri. Both were nicely made and delicious. We do not normally order bread service, but my wife was famished, so we started with the House Special Duck Fat Parker Rolls. Wow. They were amazing. The crust was dark, crunchy, and full of flavor. They came with honey butter and a bacon jam spread. Next time I might try the Steakhouse Brisket Burger and substitute these rolls for the bun. For our meals, we ordered the Salmon à la carte with a Caesar salad and the Wagyu Short Rib dinner. The salad was nicely made with a light and flavorful dressing and good presentation. The salmon was excellent. It was melt in your mouth tender with a beautiful pan sear, which is a perfect combination. The Wagyu Short Rib was a different experience. This was my first time having this "Denver" cut of short rib. I was expecting a very luxurious, rich texture, but instead it was fairly lean and a bit dry. The outside was nicely charred and had a slightly ashen flavor, which was not unpleasant, just unexpected. On its own, the meat was a disappointment. Paired with the risotto and bordelaise, it improved considerably. Still, it is not something I would likely order again. We took our leftovers home and still had room for dessert, so we shared the Banana Bread Pudding. It was delicious, though the texture was more muffin-like than the dense, creamy style we usually prefer. The rum raisin ice cream was a very nice addition. Service: Like the rest of the service at the American Club, it was very good. The entire evening felt relaxed and well paced. Water and drinks were always attended to, and our server was knowledgeable about the menu and helpful when explaining items. My only small issue was the tone of the service. It was extremely upbeat, almost to the point of feeling a bit scripted or performative. I love enthusiastic and friendly service, but at times it did not feel entirely authentic. This is a minor criticism in what was otherwise a very good experience. Atmosphere: Like the rest of the hotel, the Wisconsin Room is full of character and charm. There is a strong sense of history in the space, especially knowing it was once the cafeteria for early immigrant workers. That adds a humbling and meaningful layer to the experience. The room was still decorated for the holidays, with tasteful greenery and ornaments. We would definitely come back for another meal.

Updating my review to rave about our recent service…read more Joined by my bestie and her husband who drove all the way from Denver to see us, my partner and I returned to The Blind Horse for a birthday dinner. My bestie is SEVERELY allergic to poultry and her husband was recently diagnosed with Celiac disease which means gluten is no good (even "cross contamination"). This makes finding a restaurant that can accommodate their needs a huge challenge. Our server went out of her way to talk to the chef and check things out. They were able to accommodate these specific diets and still beautifully create their entrees. It has been horrible to adjust life with Celiac, so when the food came out, I really thought there might be some tears of joy. ;) This gave us more reasons to come back! Thank you!

We saw there were little signs by the doors that tell you what building is what. Once inside, we were seated immediately. Our waitress got us drinks within a minute of sitting down. I think her name was Ella or Ellie- she was very good. Knew when to come over and when to not come over. I ordered the lobster cargot for an appetizer - it didn't have much taste so I would pass on this in the future. The corn chowder was amazing !!!! Very flavorful. My lobster ravioli had a very nice portion size and lots of extra lobster. Our bill for 2 people who each had two alcoholic beverages was $150 with the tip. Cute date night spot. The reason for the 4 star was the blackened snapper paella wasn't good. The fish was burnt not blackened. My friend took the bottom off because of how burnt it was.
