In Branson... super starving... not sure where to eat as its mostly tourist traps. Yelp steps in to save the day! We found Pancho Villa pretty easily and stepped inside. While the decor could use a bit of an update - I am not eating the door or anything so its not the most important issue. A great local place on the strip. It looks like the place was mostly locals with very few tourists. We stopped in on a Friday night after trying 2 or 3 other places that were full and had wait for a table. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. My wife and youngest son had the shrimp tacos which they both really enjoyed. I had the Bandera Enchiladas which had a beef, chicken and cheese enchilada. We also had cheese dip and guacamole. I will say the guacamole was excellent. My only complaint was I had a small frozen margarita which was five dollars for a 16 ounce. size. If I had known it was going to be that much, I would have ordered the 27 ounces. read more

Not great..not horrible. We came because a local told us it was good...I am from Texas where Tex-Mex is a way of life. And if I could go back and find that local guy I would invite him back to my home for some real Tex-Mex food. The menu is overpriced for Tex/Mex food fare. The Mexican music was more annoying than enjoyable and was on the loud side. My waitress was attentive and friendly. The fajitas are the best choice here and be sure to get the flan for dessert. Confirmed the flan is made fresh daily every morning and is spot on delicious. Pass on the appetizers go with the fajitas and flan for dessert. The restaurant and bathrooms are clean. Parking here is sketchy as Poncho Villas shares parking with couple other busy businesses. I don't typically write reviews but felt this place deserved one. We are extremely picky when it comes to any kind of Mexican. We ordered trio fajitas, beef burrito, chicken enchiladas, white queso, and chicken fingers. The fajitas were amazing and the onion in them should have been a feature of their own. Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The beef burrito had FLAVOR and NO grease. I often find most Mexican places are full of grease with their beef. The chicken was so moist in the chicken enchiladas and also had flavor. The cheese dip was also good and my very picky 6 year old said the fries with his chicken fingers were the best. So good!! We decided to stop in here after a long day of shopping at the outlets based on other positive yelp reviews. We were seated quickly and despite having a group of 6, we were served quickly as well. They have both white and yellow queso--we had the white and it was delicious and mildly spicy, which was great. We had chimichangas, fajitas and a quesadilla among a few other items at our table and everything had great flavor and was a great portion size. We had full bowls of chips and full drinks the entire time--overall couldn't have asked for a better place to fill our bellies after a long day of shopping! read more

Very disappointing service and nasty food. First the waitress got our drink order wrong and when the food was brought out there was a live cockroach in the food. After tasting the other food orders we were very disappointed as it tasted very bland and as if it was canned food. When the bill came the waitress refused to remove or discount the plate of food that had the cockroach even though she took the plate back and saw the cockroach within the food. When asked to speak to the manger she said he was her brother and that she was in the right. After saying we would still like to speak to him she finally only discounted the plate. read more

Didn't read any reviews but decided to stop by after a show. Lots of parking but not level, but looking around no one seemed to have any issues. We walked in and got seated pretty fast and enjoyed the friendly banter with the folks there. The food; salsa, a little sweet but very good as well as the chips, we like the chips thin. On our third day in Branson so we ate light having chicken and beef enchiladas. Both were fresh and very good. There's a lot of places to eat but we'd go there again. read more

Queso was extra cost which is irritating and should be complimentary. It was decent but not worth paying for. The green sauce was my favorite. Had the cheese enchilada and tamale plate. Both very good. Service good. I would like to rate this place a 3 1/2 but can't so will give a 4. The salsa is what effecting rating for me which is big. I would come again. read more

What Mexican place doesn't have hot sauce? So I asked the waitress how could that be. Then she said they haven't made any yet. I asked her what time would they be making some. I'm from Boston, I've been to Branson twice. On current trip my friend and I wanted Mexican for Taco Tuesday (of course we do this weekly). After reading all the reviews of all the Mexican restaurants within a 5 miles radius of us we decided on Pancho Villa. OMGGGG am I glad we did. First off the restaurant itself is typical Mexican themed with mariachi music playing in the background and the staff were all Mexican, which I find all to be a plus and what I look for when choosing a Mexican restaurant. We got the Amigos combo to split and added an extra beef taco. First off the ground beef in the tacos, the BEST I have ever had! The enchiladas were perfect. Refried beans were delicious. To top it off I got a margarita the actual size of my head. If you ever find yourself in Branson, MO and have a Mexican craving come here to get your fix! read more

Margarita didn't taste like it had any alcohol in it at all then was 8.50. Cheese sauce was good. Had beef fajita lot of food but no real flavor. Charged for jalapeno and 2 extra tortillas. Service-6 Food-9 Ambiance-6 Portions-7 Margaritas-8 Beer Selection(based on it being a Mexican food est.)-8 Great Salsa, good queso blanco, service lacks, but if you know that a head of time you can plan refills and such accordingly. The WEIRD part: We had our one year old son in (who also loved the rice and beans), and the little Latina girl that waited on us spent as much time on his needs as the rest of her section(which isn't saying much). Anyway, the server was very cute and had an 18 month old son, nothing out of the ordinary yet.... wait for it..... when we were leaving she stops us by the front door, she asked if she could ask us a question, and then proceeded this way. to my wife: "If kidnappers took your husband and son, and you could pay to get only one of them back and you knew that they would kill the other, which one would you save?" I don't know about you guys, but that was a little deep for us after a couple of giant margaritas and a belly full of Mexican food. Not to mention, WAY out of left field. Not really knowing how to answer, I jumped in and said that I would kill the kidnappers and come home safely with my son, so that my wife would not have to make such a decision. Summary: Great "Branson" dining experience/Strange family owned vibe that makes you feel like your not so much a customer, but a third cousin. Service was fast and friendly and the food was good. Not the best for, but it was very good. I had veggie fajitas, which weren't on the menu but they did make on request. They were good and filling, although a smaller portion than fajitas usually are. Most places I can make 2-3 meals out of the fajitas and this was barely more than one. Otherwise, nice environment and staff and good food. The margaritas were some of the best I've had before. Would definitely go back next time we're in Branson. read more
