Great breakfast place!
For starters this place is great for having a tasty breakfast or brunch if you prefer. This restaurant is in my top 5 list of places to go for having breakfast in the city, I've been coming to this place for years and I am quite sure to assure that quality of meals keeps being excellent. Here is my review of this restaurant.
Service: Pretty nice service, right after you arrive to the place you will be greeted by the valet parking who will park your car nearby since the street parking is limited, be confident that your car will be watched while you eat, so no worries. Hostess will offer you a table immediately if available, but be prepared to wait for 20+ minutes if you arrive later than 9:00 AM, if you arrive earlier there will be plenty of chances of getting a nice table. Place is nice and clean, even they have A/C inside if day turns out to be a little hot. Waiters are quite courteous and polite, and will hand you the menus while offering something to drink while you decide to what to order.
Food: They have a wide variety of meals, most of them breakfasts and brunches, there is plenty to choose from. Menu covers burgers, sandwiches, salads, omelettes, American style breakfasts, Mexican dishes, pancakes and waffles. You can mess around and make funny combos as well, since pancakes can be mixed with almost all of meals.
I've tried several dishes there such as omelettes and enchiladas, but I must confess that since a long ago I only order Chilaquiles, why you ask? Well, while I could have them somewhere else (and let me tell you that are dozens of places here in Tijuana to choose from) I really love the way they prepare them at Pancake place. You are given three options for chilaquiles, green sauce, red sauce, and the house specialty (which I would recommend if you are able to handle spicy food, because they are hot as hell, so be warned), you can then ask for fried eggs, chicken or fried beans as side. What I really like of chilaquiles is the crunchiness of the tortilla chips even when covered in sauce. My favorite combination is green sauce chilaquiles with chicken and beans (I really would like to have a bigger portion of fried beans since I really enjoy them)
Prices: Prices are just fair, nothing is overpriced and portions are very generous, nobody leaves this place with a half full stomach.
Place: As I wrote above this place is pretty nice and clean, it would be better if they had their own parking lot, but since they offer a valet parking service there is no need to worry looking for a parking spot. One thing I do not really like is that lower level tends to get really noisy when full, restaurant is not to blame but people usually raise their voices and environment becomes annoying, you can hear the conversations from all the tables and you have to raise your own voice to keep up with your personal conversation, it is like if all were taking place in some kind of "raise your voice contest", that's why my wife and I ALWAYS ask for a table in the upper level, where they have around only 5 tables and is way much quieter than the lower level. Something else that I did not really like was the restroom, is so tiny and worn out that maybe you would prefer to wait and do your deeds at home. Spanish is spoken there so you may have some issues when ordering something in a different language but I guess you can get your way to ask for something from the menu (which is in Spanish as well). Sometimes tables wobble, but waiters can take care of it, I would only recommend fixing all the furniture since I hate it when table wobbles when slicing my pancakes, also I do not like when my coffee spills on my lap.
